Sweet looking Land Cruiser. For some reason this was never sold in the USA. I was disappointed with that. All that was available was the station wagon (FJ60), with four doors. Sweet sounding diesel engine. It's an unforgivable shame that the Toyota diesel was never offered here in the USA.
probably wasnt sold in US cause it would of competed with the Jeep Wrangler brand and made them reasonably priced for the public. Can't have that. I'm sure if this thing came to America nowadays it would sell lot hot cakes. People want an off road, convertible, suv to compete with the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler has no competition in America. Its a class of it's own. Due to that they're way overpriced for the quality that goes into them. monopoly of the class.
We have tons and loads of them here in Africa And Toyota south Africa still updating it for mainly the southern African market. We have the 4 door v8 4.0 bakkie and the OG in line 6 4.0 diesel. I love it!
Very nice LC70! What uou told about the oil pressure gage, I had the same experience, my old HZJ73 with 24v had at normal conditions a quarter, and now my newer HZJ74 with 12v approx half. In the beginning I thought that the 73 had poor oil-pressure, but now I got again the information that this is all right for the models before 1999/2000. Keep the good work!!
These are modified for the Bangladesh army and navy i.e bulletproof windows etc, they are painted green or a navy blue and then used as military police vehicle they used to be staff cars like 3 years ago but that stopped
This comment may receive a lot of thumbs down votes, but this vehicle (that I would love to own) reminds me very much of a 1st generation Mitsubishi Montero. I had an ~86 or 87 model that was labeled as a Dodge Raider. I wish to God almighty that I had kept that car. I cannot understand why companies such as Toyota and Mitsubishi do not still make and sell brand-new versions of automobiles like this, here in the U.S.! I have read somewhere that the U.S. places a much higher import tax on the short-wheelbase cars such as this one. I remember reading in that same article that the tax was referred to as the protect the Jeep Wrangler, tax.
