Thanks for the vid mate. My partner and I are looking at getting a troopy and this vid has helped a lot. We have a young daughter and it was great to see the seating layout. Thanks again mate.
That’s epic mate! Glad it helped you out. I’m having serious thoughts about ripping it out for another fitout idea I have and doing a roof conversion. It’s never ending haha
Very nice rig, and have a 79 currently but I looked at a troopy for a while but the kid safety thing worried us a bit. Love the kid seats you put in, that’s a good solution. I just wish you could get a 70 series with airbags in the second row.
Thanks mate! Yeah I know what you mean. I’ve always looked at it that they are a pretty big vehicle and built a lot tougher than smaller cars, so kids are probably safer in that than a small car with more safety features. It’s only used as trip vehicle for us and isn’t a daily driver. Enjoy the 79 mate and thanks for checking out the video!!
Hi from germany, great video. I fitted a rear seat 1/3 + 2/3 from a VW caddy wich works also for my 3 girls, and is still flexible to sleep inside when doing a trip by my own! Greetings Hörn
Thanks so much mate! That’s a great idea, only issue in Australia is they are pretty strict with what they will sign off on for after market seats, so it’s no as easy as it should be to source seats etc from another vehicle
Awesome to see the little ones living this life. How much does a setup like this come to all up? Where do you fit the extra ground tent, just chuck it in the grab box between the drawers and rear seats?
Thanks so much mate! I honestly don’t have a full on cost break down, probably somewhere around 80k. I did managed to buy the troopy before Covid and a really really good price. Depends on what tent we use, we either strap it to the roof top tent if it’s a big one like an oztent, or fit it inside. I’ve recently just bought some light weight hiking gear which is super small, so going to test using this stuff as the second tent
@@bez1997 good luck with it, exciting! The 3rd door would be so handy. If it’s got a tech safe seat it should have the point built in. If it doesn’t have a tech safe seat and you decide to buy one, they are built in
Hey mate how was it when the kids were really young getting them in and out of the back. My partner is conferenced a 2 door Troopy is going to be too difficult and annoying to put a baby in and out of baby seat
Hey mate it didn’t worry us much and before you know it they are climbing in themselves. It wasn’t something we had to deal with every day, as it’s not a daily driver. It would be a bit of a pain to have it as your only car while kids are really small
We have either been taking an OzTent, or a double swag to sleep two of us. Can only fit two in the RTT or one adult and two kids, but that’s a bit tight. Unfortunately haven’t come across the perfect sleeping setup for all 4.
Please tell me this isn't the only family car you have...if that's the case... This is what you call forcing your family to conform to your whims... 2 door car for a family is a shit decision...no, they don't love to crawl up in and out of that vehicle... A simple 4k dollar Sequoia would have been fine...or if you're not in the US and gotta have an overlander a 100 Series with discreet mods would have been great too...but this a family car? hell no.
Hahaha mate believe it or not, going in this car is the highlight of my kids days. They absolutely love it. And yes they do love climbing in. Also we do own other cars which we use as daily drivers. This is just a car for family trips, or to go up the beach.
The Toyota Sequoia and other huge SUVs like Suburbans, etc are not available in Australia, as they are not built in Right Hand Drive. They would be great if available from the factory in RHD, as they offer more room and comfort. You guys in America have access to all these awesome SUVs. And cheap(er) gas.
