They should call the Ford mustang 4 door the falcon. Makes a lot of sense. In the 60s the falcon created the mustang using it's parts. Now the mustang will be used to create the "falcon"
And engineer it in Australia, like they did with the Bronco!! Especially considering their previous decades of Ford Falcon engineering and manufacturing 🤠
That's only if it's going to have unique styling. If the plan is to literally have a Mustang that's stretched to sit four, then sticking with the Mustang name is fitting, even if that's not what Mustang purists wish they did. We'll see.
@@andycalifornia426nope. Because what would be a Mustang then other than styling cues. What made the Mustang special enough to be around for 60 years? If this was the case maybe the Probe should’ve been the Mustang, but it wasn’t and it isn’t here but the 2 door Mustang is. Again sounds stupid
Hey, Ford, if you want to make a 4-dr Charger competitor, call it the Marauder (civilian performance market) & Crown Victoria (law enforcement market). They can thank me later...
Wishful Mustang purist thinking... Mustang brand name has much more appeal than any other shitbox sedan they've made in the past 50 years. Thunderbird name has appeal in the segment of population that's dying as we speak, so they're not buying that many cars collectively. Excuse the car company for wanting to make a car actually marketable.
Hooray for wagons! _"Women are like cars: we all want a Ferrari, sometimes want a pickup truck, and end up with a station wagon."_ *~Tim Allen* Thank you as always, Matt. Stay classy my friend.
23:00 tesla superchargers already offer something similar to this, they call it the magic dock, it converts the NACS cable with a CCS1 adapter, while the Onmi Port is a CCS1 cable with an attachable NACS adapter
As a Mustang owner since 1987, I'd be interested in a 4 door Mustang BASED performance sedan. I couldn't get a Marauder when they were new, and I considered a G8 GT in 2009 and a Chevy SS when I bought my current 16 GT, but I wanted a manual and those were hard to find.
@@trbstang uhh can’t you buy a Mercury maruader used? I mean there are some for sale. Imo it shouldn’t matter if a car is new or not what matters is ownership and experience.
@@drippgxd true, but I'd really prefer a manual. I wanted to get my wife the Marauder but then we had twins and needed a SUV. I wasn't about to get rid of my 87 Mustang! I have seen a few manual swaps on them, but I doubt my wife would like for me to buy a 20 yr old car as my daily driver.
If ford does want a sedan Mustang they literally had one with 4 cars that was the crown vic grand marquis Lincoln town car & mercury marauder just bring those back shared many parts with the stang
Why is there so much hype about upcoming $25k EVs when the Chevy Bolt exists? I feel like the Chevy Bolt is the perfect proof that Americans will not buy cheap cars anymore. It had perfectly adequate power, range and storage for an incredibly competitive price but it didn't sell like hotcakes.
@imnotusingmyrealname4566 Chevy Bolt was placed on hiatus until 2025. After they solved the issues, it did sell well. So that may just happen again, assuming that they can launch without issues.
It did sell pretty well in its last year or two of life, once the problems were solved and the price came down. The next-gen Bolt, like the Equinox EV, will sell well.
Hope Acura keeps something that looks like a grill like the zdx rather than have nothing at all. And also chicane style lights. Here its look like the new buicks
I'd be really surprised if Ford came through on a 4 door Mustang or offroad Mustang that wasnt just an electric Mach e. Shelby type vert would be amaaazzziing. But i suppose it depends on regulations too
@@MaddNomad1015 I feel ya but the Crown Vic was actually a four door Mustang, they were built on the same platform and shared engines at one point. I was being literal.
@@timephire naw. Falcon has the better history, Mustang started from a Falcon and again like I said it was the most recent 4 door performance sedan they had with a v8.
I love that bmw is getting us the shooting break option, but dear lord I can never justify that front end. It’s been over a month and I still can’t accept it, it’s so goping and ungainly. The M2 grew on me instantly, it was just a momentary “OH GOD, wait it looks kinda good as an M2 vs the m240i”
Yeah the Volt was way ahead of its time. GM is looking at the Toyota sales and kicking themselves for killing the Voltec system that was a decade ahead of everyone else at the time.
Not really. Ultium is finally stretching its legs, and the cheaper Ultium offerings like the Equinox EV and later second gen Bolt will sell very well too.
Wunderbar! Another Episode of the Matt Maran Friday Night Car News Show - with a nice selection of new topics again. Wishing everybody here a great day and a fantastic weekend ahead! Enjoy the News!
Toyota has no choice but to move their fleet toward electrification. That 2030 mandate is creeping up. And with a catalog that big, they have to start early.
It sounds like Toyota doesn't want to spend $500 billion building out hydrogen infrastructure for all the 140K gas stations in America, and the rest of the world.
Hybrids are not more popular because people want them but because we have no choice. Almost every car is a some kind of hybrid these days. This is a skewed statistics. For example in Europe Lexus has ZERO non hybrid vehicles right now (Yeah, LC is going away, unfortunately) and Toyota will brag "hybrids are very popular". Yeh, because I can't buy non-hybrid, which I would if it was available
M5 will be a hit. The target market segment that buys these NEW don't even know what power-to-weight is. "More horsepower" is the only part of the equation they understand. So BMW is doing right.
You forgot to take a drink for the death of the raptor, bronco and mustang. Beloved models for decades, 50 years the mustang badge lasted. Sure make it an off roader, 4 door hell put the badge on an expedition. Why not, it doesn’t mean anything anyway.
my problem with ford and their "other mustangs" are they use the mustang name for a completely different car. i'll never understand why the mach 3 got the mustang name. i won't understand the mach 4 getting it and i will never understand a 4 door, awd car getting the mustang name.
Yup. 30% globally would be China alone! That statement was nonsense. The only reason Toyota is so against BEVs is because they want to protect their Japanese suppliers for ICE parts.
What ever happened to basic transportation, the complexity and cost with batteries EV hybrid, majority people are happy with normal economy engines with efficient automatics, Toyota is no longer a value leader they DO have issues with this technology and does not justify a higher price tag. Ford ditched the sedans, bringing another mustang version not too many people are crazy for that since the SUV MACH e version isn’t that great either. The overall manufacturers are overpriced and getting more gimmicky with the best technology features that are not working so great, it’s so hard for consumers to get deals from dealerships it shouldn’t be a headache process, inflation and market is messed up but a break is needed or else more manufacturers will be out of business
What I understand that from a guy who I know is self cars to department of Homeland security tell me that they sell them four-door mustangs and they're not the the electric mach e call Matt this is not me this is a guy that works for a company that sells cars to Homeland security whether that's true or not I don't know I pressed them on whether it was the electric mustang and he said no it wasn't what is a four-door mustang and he sent me the pictures and it looks like exactly what they've been showing for the last few years
