I felt that "If it's not fighting me every step of the way, it isn't even a project car". Glad to see you have buttoned her up, ready for the road! Can't wait to hear she passed her test!
Putting this comment in to fight the algorithm. Love an MR2 and it's been a pleasure watching this over the years. I've gives me hope I'll get my 98' Honda Civic fully finished one day! All the best!
Also, judging by the testing I have done... if you ask *(remind) for likes early on, you are more likely to get more because of the normal view duration drop off.
Great work on the brakes! Very close now. The boot on the handbrake cable won’t be an issue at all for the MOT, you’ll be good. Also, when vacuum bleeding brakes, you’ll nearly always end up with the odd bubble come through as it pulls air in through the threads of the bleed screw. Good luck with the MOT! Look forward to the next update. P.s. we need more Sophie content, it’s been far too long!
Thanks! Ah that’s good to know about the hand brake cable boot. I think I’ll replace the hand brake cables at some point as they’re already a bit rusty and will only get worse with the broken boots (it’s the same on the other side) I did put some grease on the threads to try and stop air leaking through them, and the bubbles were quite big so I suspect it was still a bit of air in the system. Either way the brake pedal feels good so I’m quietly confident. Hoping to get Sophie back in a video or two soon, it’s more of a challenge these days with having kids and most of the work happening in the evenings
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness as long as the pedal feels good you're golden! Would love a sofa and brew outro from yourself and Sophie, do miss those! At least that can be filmed at home :D
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness ah greasing the threads, I should do that. My Oldsmobile is very bad for sucking air past the bleeder screw. But yes, again, goodluck!
Get the anklebiters involved as well... I recently-ish bled my Jaguar S Type brakes just using the brake pedal. There was only me so I pumped the brake, checked the hose, etc, and when it felt like there was no sponginess called it a day. Seems ok, but probably not ideal. I did buy a kit to pressurise it from the top, from the brake fluid reservoir...but the top blew off and I got brake fluid all over the engine. Luckily I bought a 5 litre can of brake fluid...
I found your MR2 progess a few months ago and started watching. I've wanted to buy an SW20 for as long as I can remember. And a few weeks back i finally got one! Your videos actually made me look forwards to start working on the car and were a big help! So thank you for still making these videos!
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness Running like a dream. But has a bit of rust on the passenger site T-Top water drain ;) Hands down the best GT car I ever owned!
Having been here since the very beginning, and having a project car that is nowhere near as finished as yours, I feel both a sense of inadequacy and homely coziness watching. Love your content
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness A 2001 Mazda Miata. Had it apart pretty much completely, did full service, replaced most stuff and upgraded what needed to be upgraded. Still haven't been back on the road. I started six years ago XD If you're curious about MY journey, you'll find a playlist on my channel named "Project Bumblebee". I go through many of the same pains as you XD
I'm excited to see Misty on the road again. The motorcycle content is also good. Miss having Sophie and the feline content in your videos, but young families are busy. I've come close to buying a MR2, and watch Sarah - n - tuned channel as well for that content. Still on Miatas and S2000 myself, but will own a MR2 someday. Good luck with the channel growth.
Thanks! I’m gonna be picking up the CB500 scrambler project again once Misty is back on the road. We’ll try to fond time to film a sofa based outro for a video soon, and make sure to get Monkey our cat some screen time 😊
discovered your channel way back when you started- I had just bought my own MR2. That car's moved on and I miss it dearly but I'm very happy to see how far Misty's come. Great work!
hot tip, the Goodridge hoses do fit and have the bracket. 10 brake pumps with fluid, then 10 handbrake pulls. should adjust the piston. there is adjustment under the car, under the plastics directly under the gearstick. next time, just stick the breaker bar between the wheel studs so it wedges into the ground. then you can use the torque wrench on the hub nut.
We ended getting some blueprint hoses which have the proper metal brackets. I did consider trying to stop the wheel spinning with a breaker in the studs, but was concerned about potential bending the wheel studs. Although realistically that would probably take a lot more torque than is required to do up the hub nut
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness if I reply to your reply and use the word reply many many times, will it break the algorithm? There will be 1s and 0s flying around like a mother... Reply reply reply reply 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow Misty is nearly back on the road. That has been a bit of a long journey to get there but it would be good to see you all doing a road trip in her. So once Misty is legally back on the road and all repaired; what’s next? P.s. the silly algorithms will not keep me away. This is my fav channel and I always look forward to the next video.
Yeah, finally getting to the end 😊 don’t think she’ll ever be truly finished though, still loads of things we want to do even after she’s back on the road. There’s other projects as well, like the cb500 scrambler project I started a while back, and has been on hold for a while. I also need to decide what I’m doing with that cursed Vauxhall Omega, so that could become a project. And I’ve got a couple of other projects I’d like to start once misty is on the road
Great to see more progress! I always like every video I watch. It's one way I keep track of the videos I've watched. And being a long time subscriber, I think I get most of the notifications. Always enjoy seeing what you've done on Misty!
Yeah, the "call to action" is annoyingly just the industry standard for YT now. Ignore it at your own peril. Anyway, very curious to see results of the roadtest and MOT, should be fun!
I’d always just assumed it wouldn’t work but turns out I was very wrong. It’ll be interesting to see if this video gets more comments/subscribes than average too. MOT is booked for next week, couldn’t get one any sooner unfortunately, gonna be cutting it fine as we want to take misty to the MR2 national day
I need to get my MR2 back on the road. It's a 1991 car. Owned it since 1994 but it needs some welding. I've bought a couple of new sills for it. I also have a radiator leak.
Had my MR2 for 25yrs in Germany now, my Nephew 4 yrs in Barnstaple, I know u r at Mullicott X. Fancy meeting in August? I have a holiday home down the road from you in Woolacombe. There as said in August 2024, would be cool 2 meet. I used to sell the GKS Gear Knob Starter, Gear Knob.
25 years with an MR2 is awesome, did you get the turbos in Germany? We only got NA over here. Yeah send me a message in August and we’ll organise getting a drink or something 👍
No Turbo unfortunately, it's a RHD GLimited import from Japan, now registered in Germany, bought it at a large Japanese sports car dealer in Weten Super Mare called East to West imports, they're not there anymore unfortunately. I recognised some roads you drive on. Yes, I contact u in August 👍👌
The rust on the rotors is troubling. I do understand that without a lot of money and space, compromises are often a regrettable necessity. In this instance, I might just degrease the things and soak them in vinegar or citric acid, given the availability of a large enough bucket.
I was concerned about the rusty discs as well, but to my surprise it wasn’t even an advisory on the last MOT. I’d still like to replace them and the pads soon, but as it wasn’t an issue on the MOT it wasn’t a priority
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness It looks like just a bit of surface rust which will come off with a bit of driving. For some reason some discs just rust really quickly...the ones on my Jaguar will rust after a few days, while the ones on my BMW aren't rusty after about 5 years.
Fact is, the absence of Sophie in the last few isn't helping you any. The interaction between you two is what made me click the Subscribe button initially.
Yeah that’s absolutely a factor. I definitely miss having more opportunities to get Sophie in to the workshop with me these days, but that’s life with kids 😅 really appreciate the honest feedback though, and we are gonna try to get us both is some videos again soon
Small world, I subscribe to your channel on personal account, great to see you’re gonna be uploading videos again soon. I’m hoping to get back to work on my CB500 next 😊
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness My aeroplane mechanic does that when working on my aeroplane. Funny thing, I can see how much effort he's putting in and I estimate that he's pretty much correct. Human torque wrenches are underestimated.
...I wonder if the random Toyota rims I have would fit an MR2🤔. Though shipping probably wouldn't make it worthwhile, even if they were free and even if you wanted them.
Yeah no, ~$300 CAD for some old camry (apparently) rims that you probably don't even need as I doubt people there normally have a set of both winter and all season tires. Also, that you could likely find nicer ones at a local garage sale for
@@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness They look beautiful. I have a spare set for mine (mine are the older ones) which I bought to get refurbished to put on when I get the rest of the car refurbished!
