@@RelentlessRacingAJ got another question for you AJ like I said everything in car looks fresh and new the purge gasket and fuel pump gaskets had no cracks and was perfectly pliable I took my canister to mechanic friend he put pump on it and all was well except vsv evap valve on canister leaked down a bit from what I read it’s not supposed to at all so hopefully that’s my problem so gonna replace the two rubber seals anyway and the valve what do you think thanks

Do you have any tips on removing the difficult hose from the check valve? I’m doing it in the car, and it is testing my patience! Is it a squeeze to release, or stick a tool in somehow? Thanks in advance

Lmao. That hose can b challenging. If u look closely at 1:03 in the video, when u squeeze the 2 sections it releases the locks. The problem is sometimes u aren’t squeezing hard enough or the locks don’t move enough. I suggest squeezing and then stick a pick in there to help move the lock. U will have to do this on both sides and b careful not to ruin the locks bc they r plastic. Good luck. Don’t forget to subscribe. 👊

First. I subscribed. I watched the brake cable replacement video. I saw how it looks like you could replace the canister assembly evap unit without dropping the gas tank. By removing the luggage compartment. Its about 7 : 30 in on that video. You never actually removed the unit, so I was not able to see to answer this question. Is it possible to replace the 77390-20070 part without dropping the gas tank and just taking off the luggage compartment and removing the canister assembly evap unit? Can that metal thing be rotated so that check valve can be taken out?

I appreciate you watching, commenting, & subscribing. With respect to your question, I honestly don’t know because I obviously dropped the tank. You will have to try it on your own and find out. It’s pretty easy to remove the luggage compartment and EVAP unit. Get in there and try it. Good luck. -AJ

Did you ever able to clear the code? I replaced my cracked vent valve on my celica. I drove 450miles and light cameback. Before i could use drive for 50miles light come back on. So problem still not fixed. I wonder something came undone. I have checked the gas and lose hoses already. Any suggestions?

Recall, the EVAP is testing the system using vacuum. When it pops the the code it means you have a leak. Did you replace all the items as suggested in the video?

I got another vapor canister from picknpull with vent valve still attached along with all the hoses. I removed my bad vent valve plus gasket and slipped the replacement one in. Only house connectors i undo were the 3 by the vapor canister(2 with clamps and one doesnt) and that smaller hose that connected to the gas tank. I didn't want to disturb the connections. All the hoses were in great shape. So you think there could be a leak right at the connection point? I have checked every connection and or attempted to replace every component to see if it would clear the code. All electronic components are working. P0440 means the is a leak. Finding that minor slow leak is hard.

I don't have codes but can that check valve if it's bad, cause my car not to start after filling gas to full every time?

AJ-thanks for your videos and mostly for answers to our questions my 2000 mr2 with 90,000 miles driven by little ol lady to church on Sundays kind of car and always garages kept seriously so I don’t understand how the canister could be stopped up that’s what my local dealer told me after a 300$ check up there. I have all 3 cel lights po440,441,446 showing and have replaced gas cap and maf and checked for leaks so I’ve taken out seats and am to the canister but wondering ur opinion here- should I just replace canister put it all back together and try that or just go ahead and replace everything evap connected and remove tank plus aren’t there more switches or something under the hood that could be the problem? Just hate to replace everything if it’s just one single problem sorry for the long question thank you in advance for your help

If u are gonna throw parts at the problem eventually u will find the issue. However, EVAP probs are essentially leaks in the system and I believe in understanding the problem and attacking it systematically. I believe a smoke machine is what u need to properly identify leaks. U wrote “checked for leaks”. How did you check for leaks?

@@RelentlessRacingAJ it’s been a while but I’m sure Toyota dealership used smoke to come up with the canister idea but of course they didn’t tear out back compartment either I just removed the canister looks really good like I said this car is very clean and taken care of I read somewhere that if you can blow through the line and it comes out other it should be fine😬and this one seems to be I’m kinda thinking I have a cracked seal in either the fuel pump seal or the dreaded purge valve seal but the tank has to come out for that so if I remove tank surly I’ll be able to spot problem idk AJ just replacing all the evap parts if I shop around for best prices wouldn’t be too expensive then I know the car would be good to go another 22 years on evap anyway 🤷‍♂️

Would the fuel pump tank seal cause a p0440 just by itself bc I dont think I put a seal on it when I replaced it?

Yes, when I removed mine & I didn’t notice it was so cracked and it popped the code. I replaced it and no more code.

EVAP codes indicate u have a leak in the system. Review the service manual and start looking for leaks. Additionally, a smoke machine can be your best friend. Finally, there is no shame in taking your vehicle to a quality mechanic.
