Just took delivery of one of these two days ago and I absolutely love it! It's so comfy, full of tech and drives so well. Kinda glad we chose it over the defender
Just to hear some Aussies spending bucket loads of cash without any second thought only establishes the fact that 98% Australians are making do with 2% resources and 2% Aussies are enjoying 98% resources.
I do have the same Prado-LC , same colour but different model & year. I bought it 2017. Ever since, I don’t encounter any mechanical-electrical problems. It’s diesel and very economical. Me & my family are always happy for its safety & reliability.
I have a 2010 petrol Kakadu and have done 165000k and it still drives like new and has been trouble free. It is a great car that always feels bulletproof.
Good observations on various aspects of the vehicle. A decent review! Its not a superlative vehicle in any particular area, but does well as an all rounder and long term ownership prospects, particularly low maintenance costs are likely to be very positive for families.
First of all it’s an SUV A true to the name, capable and rugged SUV Not a crossover or a raised hatch to feel easy to drive These things are supposed to be rugged and feel tough to drive, made for tough men and women
This is by purpose. Putting flashy new technology in such a car, that may last 20 years, is self defeating as the flashy technology gets outdated within 5 years
It doesnt hold lower gears, it just has a better throttle response. It will only hold a gear if you smash the peddle. On the highway it will stay in 6th if you only slightly use the throttle. Thats why she said its better, because you dont need to accelerate harder. Ive tested this on the highway and it uses less L/100km in power mode than eco if you are crusing. Eco only cuts the aircon use hence why it can "save" fuel. Dulling the throttle on a highway is stupid. You cant overtake at all. You can compare Eco mode on the highway to a 4 speed Mazda 323 from 1998 lol
Just one thing to note for Toyota especially for 4-wheel drive vehicles...please avoid too much electronics...otherwise you go the way of Land-rover. Keep your vehicles as the way they have been....SIMPLICITY, VERSATILE for the common driver Again no electronics especially for things like terrain response, suspension, wheel articulation...Let it remain simple, manual...DRIVER SELECT
All the mentioned usage can be satisfied by many SUV that are much cheaper, yet more comfortable. Prado is not the best choice for family who don't drive off-road a lot. Because it compromises onroad comfort for off-road capabilities. I.e. choose to use body on frame and solid rear axle rather than unibody with independent suspension . This review is better to include demos showing how capable it is doing typical 4WD driving which random suv can't do.
Your comment regarding delayed introduction to Apple CarPlay and low res cameras confirms my opinion that Toyota’s tech is not a priority and appears to be slapped together on a Friday afternoon on the way out the door.
@@craigdavid6668 Where did he mention cost or affordability? He's right about the crap tech. You can get stuck into me if you want because I'll tell you it's an overpriced old boring fart car for Wilma Woollies and Bob Bunnings to pootle about in clogging the roads while aimlessly shopping for a new caravan and that it that desperately needs an overhaul to be less gutless. A car that shows the world you have no imagination and are just burning up superannuation whilst waiting to die. Has nothing to do with the ability to afford, had everything to do with making good choices for the money and this car is a great choice if you are Wilma and Bob...
Ford Everest doesn’t really hold any competition with a Prado regardless of the Kakadu variant. Land Cruisers are a proven breed of 4x4s which Ford is yet to achieve
LOL such a Arrogant thing to say! The number one 4x4 for Utes in Australia is the Ford Raptor. To say they dont know about 4x4 is plain rubbish.. you are aware in the US they have bush and Desert right FFS
@@2004lesk01 its not arrogance. And by writing FFS don’t think you are someone who can abuse and it won’t get noticed. Not here to argue. And you better watch your tongue.
@@avneet911 lol not comparing? you made a view about 4x4's? BTW it is the same chasis and 4 x 4 line in the Everest, but the point here , saying Ford is yet to prove they can build great 4x4's is pretty small minded stay on point, your out laddish statement directed at the ford motor company. American's invented the car, and have built many off roaders for the Army and civilians While we enjoy a small percentage of cars for the off road, dont be so narrow minded to think no other car builder knows what their doing.. Most of these brands were doing it before the Japanese.
@@2004lesk01 seems more of an argument with you than a perspective. Maybe try looking into reliability of a vehicle than just history. Understand that Rangers sell a lot in Australia, maybe more for looks than other things. Also, my first hand experience with Fords while working on mine sites, we bashed every 4x4 and all get equally abused; fords had one of the highest failure rates and issues with engines, transmissions etc. Anyways, can’t argue any more and did not mean to offend.
Just curious why are they called Kakadu's? seems like the Australian market is the only place that uses this trim name... mostly the top trim Land Cruisers are called VXR' s
Finally some good news from Toyota...Apple car play and Android auto... Can someone tell me if the Prado are still suffering from the roll-over vulnerability? For me that is one of my beef with Prado
If u want family car suv to drive inside city and long trip road i dont think prado is good choise with this price point and Comfort i would prefer Kia teullried, lexus rx450L, santafe 2020 for this type of driving
Actually it's not a bad idea. For the prado you can buy an after market stainless table that bolts to the door, great when camping or picnicking away from the madding crowd.
$87000 plus on roads well over $90000 is a lot of money and they still could not get a decent info system and camera. Also the fuel economy is very much higher in all the people I know who has the latest version of the Prado, the average may have been around 10 per hundred but when a real liters used per klm it always comes in at way over better off with a Real land cruiser mid level.
People who are judging Prado ...nagging about not being that technically advanced 🤣🤣 bring your whatever car with cut throat technologies. Any car guy with mechanical knowledge knows who will survive more than 100k miles or even more. For a reason UN has made it their official car for any part of the world 🌎
Can you explain what the raised floor in the rear of the Prado is all about? I’ve seen it before and wondered why it’s not flat with the load lip - you lose valuable cargo space with this mad design.
@@luiss5648 interesting because other manufacturers seem to do third rows that don’t need that. My 3rd row folds flat and the seat bottoms fold down and underneath into the floor.
its because in the flat tailgate option, the tyre is stored beneath the car. In the option with the tyre on the back door, theres an extra fuel tank underneath for another 70 or so litres.
Really? Should have researched before saying that. Toyota had a major recall for many of it's models in November 2020. Fuel pump problem I think. Recall includes the Prado, from what I read.
@@Lemon83166 have you owned a Merc mate?😃 You are going to have to fork out $1350 for a regular service at their hopeless service centres, just saying.
It includes a HDMI input positioned in the middle console so you are not limited to the media you can use. Disappointing that a car review channel doesn’t point out this distinction.
I do not understand why these people keep on comparing the Toyota Prado to the Ford Everest - both SUVs do not belong to the same category. Toyota Prado=Ford Explorer, Toyota Fortuner=Ford Everest, Toyota LC 200=Ford Expedition (short version), Toyota Sequoia=Ford Expedition Max... Ford Everest is based on Ford Ranger, whereas the Prado ??? neither as the Ford Explorer is based on??? ...
Was this a paid ad or what? All talk and no details. The information that was there was just reading the leaflet. Strongly considering the car, would not endorse the video at all.
This car costs more than my salary and more than an Everest Trend so what the heck is CG comparing? Plus what this lady doesn't seem to understand or was told not to discuss- whilst the whole family will fit in, their gear won't. So unless you prefer travelling with no luggage, food and other essentials OR towing a trailer, filling in those 7 seats will empty your bank but not fill your travelling need.
I won't - not at this price. I live in Darwin which they may as well rename 'Prado' but really, I just don't get it? It costs $50,000 more than my LDV Ute which also has a 2.8 litre diesel engine and all the electronic and safety stuff you can think of. I have driven lots of Prados as part of a previous role in the NT Govt, where we had to go to remote communities. Engine was good - ran all day without any complaints. Interior was spartan, given the price of these vehicles. Don't get me started on the cheap jack. I used to take my own trolley jack out bush, as punctures were fairly regular. Tyres aren't great either, although they were the standard Dunlop highway tyres. Anyway, you get the picture.
@@larjkok1184 ha ha.... And will have only paid 36,000 for a ute with all the bells and whistles and which I can trade on the new Ldv ute next year. Whereas your Prado will be facing pressure from the new Chinese utes and SUVs at less than half of the the price of the Prado ie the Ldv D90 and Havrl H9 for a start.
@@Fitzaism Yeah, you should get $5,000 for it. Happy days! Some people prefer an amount of quality, some are happy with the cheapest possible option. Best of luck to you.
No difference with old version only interior change same engine to difference. Unfortunately very good to drive but very old vehicle in arrival to australia. I wouldn't wast my money.
Its nice... but I think a Rexton is better, better towing capacity, much cheaper but still has all the safety and luxury as the Prado and it is a decent offroader, not as good as a Prado but still good, I would go for a Rexton.
You can make this video shorter by simply stating "This is called an SUV. Its big. It makes you feel powerful on the road, so the trucks dont scare you so much. It doesnt fit in all car parks under 2m, so just find a nice little spot halfway up the gutter because this is what a SUV can do. Also, no internet app likes NETFLIX, but u can use this dvd player for.... well, its just for bragging rights. Who watches a tv in the car anyway! In the back, its very easy to fit your monthly yoga bag and mat inside, along with the groceries that only require 4 or 5 bags at most. Because we dont spend more than $200 on food per week after we pay $350 per week for this car, plus $130 per month on insurance, plus $120 every 5 days for fuel."
Nah I’d take the Everest over the Prado. Nice car just overpriced like nearly every Toyota. But must admit it’s definitely more refined than the Everest
@@mills3375 interestingly, the Australian designed Everest was everywhere on the roads in the Philippines just over a year ago. Especially in Manila, where it seemed to be the most popular SUV, followed by the Ford Ranger Utes.
Way too expensive, SsangYong Rexton Ultimate is better on the tech front, quality and luxury feel much better too, the Rexton can also tow more weight, the Rexton isn't as good off road but still is a very capable SUV and we'll worth a look.
@@Hope2421 you are sure that the rexton will be same relaible and durable as toyota after 10 years of use ? If we give a look to rexton model 2010 or 2011 ,are they still running flawlessly as when they are new ?
Why do these like some others have air vents above the Navigator reverse it around and you will not be looking down at any time its just stupid many now have it above the air vent not below who wants air hitting you in the face chest is much better get your act together Toyota
@@amrashraf9559 reliability has never really been an issue with Korean built Ssangyong, more their questionable looks....but now they look fantastic and come with a 7 year warranty. Definitely worth checking out.
Ssyangyong save you 30k at buying an when you sold the car you loss more than that like a stock falls 🤣 Even 2005 prado diesel now priced at 20-30k on carsales.. really2 worth it
Looking at the prado, in fact looking at the SUV range from Toyota, across the board, they are still treating their customers like mugs. Oh, it has a DVD, do people still use those? It doesn't have wireless connectivity. The range still lacks much of what is standard in other SUV's. Toyota's attitude is, people buy what we want to offer ( because they do) instead of we'll deliver a vehicle that is actually of a 21 century design, because that's what people want. The 2.8 lt still isn't enough for a vehicle of that weight, especially for towing. But as with all vehicle manufacturers, they refuse point blank to listen. Tune the engine, upgrade the ECU and exhaust, upgrade the suspension, replace the tyres with A/T's all on a vehicle you've just spent a 100k buying. Oh and one last bugbear that bloody LCT, a tax introduced to protect the local car manufacturers, of which Toyota helped push. But today we no longer have a local car industry but the tax is still very much in place. Neither the motoring journalists nor the manufacturers are fighting to remove this government money grab. Buy a car that attracts the LCT and your negotiations should start from the point of no LCT.
