Need to remove battery terminal or not before remove the pillar? Worry thay airbag will trigger if not disconnect battery terminal on my vios 2020. Gonna install obd2 meter soon.
Excellent job on this video. It’s very detailed; I like how you give a close up on how the pin mechanics work. This is exactly what I was looking for. Many people skip the details and the watcher are left with questions still. Again excellent job!
Just recently purchased a new RAV4 and attempted to install the dashcam, so I removed the trim not knowing about this type of clip design and couldn’t figure out how to reinstall it. Your video helped me reinstall the trim with ease. Thank you for making this video!
My husband and I were about ready to kill each other over getting this panel clicked back in. Who knew someone out there would make a video on this. You saved our marriage!! No one will appreciate this video until you trying to figure out why this shit is not clicking back in!! My husband works in the motor industry as well!! Arghhh so frustrating. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Thank you for the vid. I have taken many panels apart and have had zero issues over the years. This is my first airbag style. I almost lost my shit trying to figure them out. I've been out of the auto world professionally for too long. This helped a lot today. Thank you
Great big "thank you" for this. I didn't realize the air bag went up that far. Excellent overview of those anchoring clips. Good idea on Toyota's part to prevent trim from becoming projectiles.
Thanks. Subscribed. Great work guys. Nice and crisp decription. One of the ways to avoid going over the airbag would be to fish the wire under the airbag .
Thank you very much for all of your detailed Rav4 videos! I just bought a new 2024 RAV4 hybrid, and I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now. Your videos are VERY helpful to me, please keep making these videos. Thank you, Morozov.
Outstanding video. Thank you! Installing dash cam and wanted to find out how to remove the A pillar trim and was concerned about airbag. You made my day!
Thank you so much for your great explanation on those blinking clips - mine came off and it's drove me crackers trying to put it back. My plan B was blue tac 🤣😆
Thanks for great tips. Your detailed step to remove the anchoring clip really helped me to correctly re-install the airbag cover. I followed many of your detailed videos.
Extremely helpful. Thanks for providing a way to completely avoid the airbags. I really would rather not risk or take a chance with a life saving air bag device. people should have their priorities straight. air bags should also come before any accessories.
EXCELLENT !!! Concise, and very informative. You guys obviously put a fair bit of thought into this video, and used a lot of common sense. VERY helpful !!! Thank you so much. Subscribed.
excellent and detailed video. I was thinking instead of running the wire over the airbag, you can run it underneath it, would that work? thanks again for this video
Thank you! The clip part number is 62217-42050. A-Pillar Trim Clips (62217-42050) - www.ebay.com/itm/314322681738?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338971185&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1.
Thank you for your great videos!! I have 2019 Rav4 XLE and when it rains I notice wet spots inside the car on the apillars. I live in Florida and think the heat caused it because it did not happen until I moved here. Any ideas on what to do?? Thank you!!
Bonjour, et merci pour tes vidéos, pourrais tu faire une rapide vidéo pour enlever le plastique du coffre arrière enfin que je puisse changer le vérin gauche hydraulique assistée..?? merci
Though I'm not able to get a close look, just follow the airbag wiring harness down to the dash and out the bottom. No need to cross over the actual airbag.

Ummm...I was thinking of adding sound deadening materials (i.e. dynamat extreme + 1/8 dynaliner) in the a pillar panel to reduce wind noise .....do you think it will be effective?
would it be possible to run the wire down the A pillar and underneath the speaker cover and avoid the weather striping and crossover the airbag entirely? thx
Hi, great video, do you have to disconnect 12v battery when you remove the A pillar trim. After watching this video, I want to add sound deadening on the A pillar metal and sound absorption material like 3m sm600L sound absorption.
Thank you for you video. I will not have a problem with the front camera cord, since I will stay along the front window edge until coming to the dashboard. The cord will not be by the airbag. The back camera cord is the problem. Again I will go along the front window edge, but will have to cross over the top of the air bag. If I take the pilled cover off, can I fish the cord behind the airbag? Please let me know. Thank you again!
Hi, I watched your video few times but i am not able to put it back the clip. I am concerned if i will break the clip. What am i doing it wrong. I have installed the wiring/dash cam, all job is done except this trim which is hanging around. Please help me.
Make sure that you push clips back into the A-pillar trim prior to reinstalling it. Carefully align the a-pillar trim and push it in. Make sure that nothing is in the way.
Can you also just tuck the wire between the front window and pillar without opening the A-Pillar? Or will that obstruct the plastic from going out when the airbag deploys? Thanks again
You should be able to tuck the wire using the plastic trim removal tool. I don't think it will affect the plastic trim. Here is another article on the topic - www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/dash-cams-and-airbags.
Hi Tom, yes, it is a good practice to disconnect the battery when you work close to the airbags. The 12v battery is located in the trunk of the RAV4. This video shows where it is located: Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (2019-2022): 12V Battery Location - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kR6gQE9d1Bo.html.
@@MorozovAutomotive That's the one I watch any not sure all those extra connector around the battery affect anything if I disconnect the traditional way.. The extra large holding frame looks quite scary....I will see what dash cam is best for my 22' Rav4 Hybrid LE. Way too complicated to connect rear cam to the front
I'm an Auto Technician who installs Dash Cameras daily. The lack of experience in the video and comments is astonishing. Routing it infront of the airbag WILL hinder the airbag deploy, why take the risk? Get it installed by a professional. Please DO NOT cut in front of airbags. Just go in behind them, unless you pull the fucking thing it isn't going to deploy. Just route it in behind it.
You should have said that youre an auto technician who lacks a brain. The airbag pushes out the entire A-pillar panel and deploys with enough force to send a grown man airborne but apparently you think that's not enough to push a flimsy wire out of the way.
@@helltrooper1288 I also have a degree in Engineering with a fairly comprehensive understanding of physics. Yes an airbag deploys with lots of force, but if it's being wrapped around by a cable immediately that absolutely will affect how it deploys. It's the same principle as this: It's like having a firecracker go off in an open hand, you'll get a scorched palm. if you wrap your hands around it and it deploys your entire hand will be blown off. You want to take the risk, fine go ahead, I'll continue to spend an extra 5 seconds not being lazy and not risking peoples lives.
@@scatcat1994 I get your concern, I also rather not go over the airbag but my logic is that the A-pillar seems to be literally doing the same thing. It's blocking the airbag completely. Unless it's released by another mechanism and not from the force of the airbag deploying, I dont see how a wire in the same position could affect anything. It's not like the wire is under a lot of tension, once the A-pillar is loose, the wire will be dangling and any force applied will effectively pull the wire out that's still tucked in from above. The only problem is that the wire will most likely yank the dashcam off, break it, and send it towards passengers as a projectile, or passengers could get slapped in the face by the wire. How do you recommend going behind the airbag? I have a rear view camera that needs to be routed from the front windshield all the way to the back. Should I remove the remove the pillars as shown in the video?
@@helltrooper1288 It looks like it won't block the deployment of the airbag. But Have you guys taken into account that if blocked airbag with a wire deploys, the wire can hit the face with a really high speed and hurt the person. This could be really dangerous.
Air bag on the A pillar fires to the front door window to provide a cushion for driver and front passenger before hitting on door glass. If the firing direction is not blocked. It would be OK.
