My experience with a similar installation. I auditioned the front setup for a few weeks and decided the highs were too harsh for me. I replaced the front 6 1/2” coaxials with mid bass drivers from an Infinity component system and moved the coaxials to the rear doors. The sound is much improved. It sounds great! Installation tips: It might be a good idea to wear gloves when cutting, removing the factory speakers. I used #8 x 1 ¼” screws. Where a couple of the screws didn't hold, I switched to #10 x 1 ¼” screws. It might be a good idea to have touch up paint on hand. Suggest using a piece of cardboard to protect the paint when drilling the wire holes. I used the mid bass drivers from an Infinity REF-6530cx system. Primus PR6510CS drivers would probably work just as well. I purchased an open box set.

I did check cruchfield and they sell these speakers with mounts and hardware for 87$. I bought these on Amazon for 57$ because i had bunch of gift cards. Also the reason why I did cut out old speakers is because i did not wanted to deal with drilling and old speakers not gonna be reused or sold.

Bro just completed my front door speaker upgrade, followed your instructions. Easier than I thought, got the JBL CS763 that were on sale and couldnt pass up. Very noticeable difference, am very happy. Is it worthwhile to do the rear doors?

Thank you very much. I followed your instructions and it is perfect. Replaced 6 speakers and the sound is amazing. Using longer screws is a must, not optional as the one provided in the kit wont reach on all sides.

I found this video very helpful. The Rear OEM speakers are Garbage... Reminded me of the 08 Yaris hatchback Rear OEM speakers.. I actually don't mind the Front OEM speakers; they are adequate for calm music or podcasts. I think I'm just going to Upgrade the Front and Swap the Front OEM speakers to the Rear location.. @@nazarettos6987 Jesse Rizo RU-vid channel, did a speaker upgrade on his Rav4 and he bought installation kits. He said he was going to trash the OEM speakers and many viewers got upset that he didn't hack up the OEM speakers and use them as Adapters, just like you did ... I guess you cannot win with some people in the RU-vid comment section...🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Anyway have a good one. Thanks 👍

Buen video amigo, yo le puse a las 4 puertas kiker y dos twiter a las puertas traseras, en el baúl le puse dos bufer de 12 pulgadas kiker y OMG, suena mi Rav4 espectacular, claro que necesite de dos amplificadores uno para mover las cuatro bocinas y el twiter y uno solo para mover los bajos (bufer) y no puedo estar más contento con lo que hice, saludos.

Thank you so much for the video. Helpful as I am thinking to upgrade speakers in my Rav4 as well. One thing bothers me is a possible water ingress inside the door and speaker. I would probably solder a custom wire and moved the contacts down or do extra sealing of the contacts. I know it is probably an overkill but it is better to be on the safe side.

You should put a bead of silicon between new speaker & existing plastic frame. It's not a perfect seal the way you did it.

I had a 2010 Toyota, Corolla. And when I replaced the rear speakers with poke audio 6. By nine inch hooked it up to the factory stereo, it sounded very tinny!! I had to turn to trouble all the way down. And the same thing with my friend who had a 2005 Toyota Camry, he had the. Rear spackers replaced with kicker 6 / 9 speakers. And it was the same situation. I don't know what it is with Toyota factory stereos. Something to do with the Equalizer settings internally I guess they are designed to make cheap speakers sound good

Does the sound system produce those 180Watts that you in stalled? You need to add and amplifier, otherwise you are not actually using the full potential of the speakers

Great explanation. I was worried to drill and remove the speaker brackets like some other videos showed. I prefer your method, it’s safer. Do you prefer infinity ref speakers or kicker dsc’s?

I always liked infinity speakers because of their clarity. It’s totally up to you what you wish to install, some people like JBL, but its same company under Harma. Some people also install boom boxes in their trunk because they want a lot of base and loudness, but I like clarity in my music. When you gonna be installing, make sure get screws that are no longer than 1. 1/4 and screw into the plastic braket just like I did. Two top screws into that thick plastic part and two bottom ones into plastic channel. Everything will be fine

so i bought a brand new Cadillac CT5 sport and the speakers sound terrible, i'm use to the older cadillac bose speakers that sounds really amazing. For some weird reason these newer cadillacs either sounds terrible or average. I think i will do this upgrade but i'm gonna need a specialist to do it

I went with the JBL SPKCB620FAM Club 620F Shallow Mount 6-1/2" 2-Way Speakers - No Grill for my 2019 JBL Rav4. The tweeter on that speaker is going to get smashed if someone hits the door panel. I also was replacing the garbage JBL system that was more difficult as it was a @#$@$#@ 2 OHM system. The crap JBL PREMIUM OEM speakers blow out easy and are terrible. The magnet is smaller than the one he showed. I also stuck with JBL to try and keep the same tone as I hoping to replace them in sets as they blow out. Even the lowest end JBL look better than what Toyota forces them to supply.

Do you need to add sound deadening pads to the door with this speaker? I read an amazon review for this speaker that you need to add some sound deadening panels to the door too or else it'll rattle or not sound that great at higher volumes. thanks.

I did not have to add any sound deadening pads. Everything works just fine. Sound is clear crisp better base everything works just fine. Plus these are not meant to be like very loud speakers. It’s all about the quality of the sound.

Been wondering if I should go to the same route as using both coaxials in front and rear for ease of installation even though my vehicle also have stock tweeters. I just dont to fuss around in installing a crossover that comes with separates (for front speakers+tweeter). Any thoughts on this?

35:06 if instead of your method of leaving the original speaker shell, would the included brackets that these speakers come with work? or are they too shallow? I think I would rather use the included brackets... unless there is a reason that you know not to? and in that case I would totally do it your way to save from buying brackets.

Too shallow, magnet extends into the door. You need to have space for the window and I didn’t wanted to risk it. Also if you want you can buy these speakers on crutchfield, they sell these speakers with brackets and harness. I got mine on amazon because i had free giftcard and speakers were cheaper.

@@nazarettos6987 I have a 2023 RAV4 Prime XSE and it came with these plastic piece of junk. It's a shame considering the price I paid. The higher trim you're talking about is the Tech version with JBL speakers. You need to put out $5k to get those. So I'm very satisfied with this $300 upgrade !

It was a little scary in the cutting factory speaker part. But I think your way is safer than drilling the bracket. I did upgrade my dashboard speaker by your way. I would use your method if I upgrade mine. And can I ask you how long for the whole process upgrading both side of rear and front speakers? And do the speakers have a lot of bass. I’m a fan of bass. It took me 30-40 minutes approximately to change my speakers. You just have to be careful with your plastic clips no to loose them. Sound is much better and you get better clearer sound with base, but not too much base because you need amplifier for better base.

They sell 6.5" speaker adapters for Toyota. Drill out the factory rivets and use bolts to put the adapters in. Use Toyota wiring harness for new speakers. It provides a much cleaner installation. I just did 2 front door speakers and took me about 30mins each side.

Cheaper to modify what's there. Plus you get more depth. Apparently the IX speakers work; Crutchfield says they won't.

Hey sir, or anyone else who happens to be reading, I don't know a ton about car audio, but is it sufficient to simply replace the door and dashboard speakers without additional work? As in, even with the stock head unit - can it drive the replacement speakers well enough without additional power? On a related note, does anyone know if the installation is noticeably different if you already have the factory JBL upgraded system, rather than the base system?

Do these speakers work well without amplifier ? They are 180 watts and the factory head unit only pushes out around 25 watts per channel so you might need to open up the volume level more...these infinity also comes in 6532 EX model as well and they are 165 watts im hoping lesser watts speaker will give you more punch from factory Radio...let me know your experience and suggestion..thanks

If the JBL system you have came from the factory, then these are MILES better, since OEM JBL is much different than aftermarket JBL. I'm willing to bet that if you took the JBLs that you have out (if they came from the factory as JBL), then you would find them to be crappy paper speakers.

It really doesn’t matter which one to use, i simply used what i had in the box . Its really easy to drill out that plastic piece.

That is not the correct wat to put those new speakers in. That old speaker was all one piece and should have been taken out from the door and a speaker adapter used to install the new speaker. This is a hack job

wow... super bad install... you know they sell speaker adapter for your car... Metra makes good speaker door adapters... please do it the right way from the beginning...!!!
