Btw just a tip to anyone reading this: Make sure you get a battery that says “2016” on it (I got Duracell brand but I’m sure any 2016 will work) my dumb butt made the mistake of getting a battery that was the same size but had a different number on the front and it didn’t work and I had to return it and start over again.so make sure you have the correct battery, just bc it’s the same size doesn’t mean it’s the same thing lol.
i CAN't thank you enough for your clear and concise directions. You saved me I don't know how much money as opposed to the time and effort of dealing with a dealership. I just changed the batteries in both my key fobs on my 2007 rav 4. Now both fobs work flawlessly.
Happy 15 year old V6 Rav4 owner here. I LOVE my car, especially on our high-speed Boston area dog-eat-dog rotaries where out-of-the-hole performance matters and deep beautiful snow is a way of winter life! It’s a fabulous little SUV, and gives back everything I ever ask. Time and again, my car outperforms everything else on the road, especially in ‘bad’ weather. Too, I’ve always treated it like an investment, and it shows. From regular Toyota maintenance and synthetic oil changes to recalls to regular undercarriage and body washing to detailing - it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. That includes 2 diesel Mercedeses and 2 Hondas (a Civic and an Element). So, on point, I needed new key fob batteries. They’d lasted since I’d had them replaced in 2017. 8 years out of a fob battery had to be good. And for nearly 7 years, this second set lasted. So Toyota dealership’s parts dept again sold me two replacement batteries for my fobs. Like last time, the nice parts dept. man showed me how trivial it was to change the battery, by doing one key fob. I’d forgotten. Easy peasy, I thought. So I came home and tried to replace the battery in my second key fob. No problem opening the fob and replacing the battery. But the whole assembly came apart in pieces, and the rubber part REFUSES to cooperate - it won’t stay on the little circuit board/battery piece and refit back into the housing! Looks like I need to go back for ‘special education!’
I just opened both my fobs, one I've been using for 10 years, the other has been hanging on the key rack, 2012 RAV4 I bought new. I checked the voltages. 3.08 unused one, 3.04 on the used one. That is hard to believe. Swapped out anyhow but I think the success was due to the removal of a little oxidation in the process. So all is well. Thank you for the video.
