In this video we show you how to turn ON/OFF and adjust the settings on the various Toyota Safety Sense Features available on your Toyota. While we recommend that you keep these safety features on at all times to help prevent and mitigate collisions, there may be times where you would like to deactivate or adjust some of the sensitivity or notification settings on the various features. These features include a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Road Sign Assist (RSA).

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection:
This integrated camera and radar system is designed to help reduce the likelihood of colliding with a preceding car or pedestrian.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control:
This high-tech cruise control uses radar behind the Toyota badge plus a camera on the windshield designed to adjust your speed, helping you maintain a preset distance from the car in front of you.
Lane Departure Alert:
A camera on your windshield may help you avoid the consequences of unintended lane departure by alerting you when it senses that you’ve veered from your lane.
Automatic High Beams:
A camera on your windshield aids nighttime driving by using a camera to detect headlights and taillights of preceding vehicles, and toggling accordingly between high and low beams.
Lane Tracing Assist:
When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is enabled and lane markers are visible, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) uses the lines on the road and preceding vehicles to help keep the vehicle centered and in its lane.
Road Sign Assist
Using a forward-facing intelligent camera, Road Sign Assist (RSA) is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs and yield signs, and display them on the Multi-Information Display (MID).

Thank you for this! My pre-collision system is constantly triggering at the wrong time (such as during quick lane changes) and I'm worried it'll slam on the brakes and get me rear-ended. At the same time, it didn't trigger when I was rolling forward and checking over my shoulder for incoming traffic, resulting in a minor accident. As far as I'm concerned it's a useless system and I'm glad to be able to turn it off!

Perhaps I missed it but is there a setting to adjust/disable the backup camera alert for I did not see that on the video. Also I am installing a scooter lift on my 2018 Highlander and it blocks the backup camera. Does Toyota have the capability to move the backup camera higher on the hatchback door so that it will make the backup camera useful again? Thank you

You can do that or take it to the dealer. But you may need to check with several dealers and you may need to check with several technicians at the dealerships

its there to let you know when your too close on on the yellow line or the white line ,its pain in the ase ,but i am going to try not using it at all ,it was put in for those who dont keep there eyes on the road pretty much or there total attention on driveing ,an too help stop crashes ,if you ask me it can be good for student drivers ,couse with it on it keeps you in the lane without the bell ring or tire turning in or out to correct the steer,some call it jerking ,i feel like those who dont need it or dont want it ,just learn to shut it off ,its a pain i think couse most roads 8 feet wide are just too skinny ,but wont to improve the driveing yes ,also they will say it there to prevent accidents wich is part true , sensitivity is a low an high thing ,so it wont be as sensitive on low as it would on high ,i just shut mine of altogether ,now will see i drove 2k miles with it on an dont like it so much my 2 cent

i unfortunately got rear ended recently with my 2023 corolla. im just trying to figure out how to shut off the beeping noise saying my truck is open when its not (sadly had to bungie it shut now but i am scheduled to fix it soon) just want a fix for now. so im not driving and hearing it beep the whole time

What did you have to do to get the car to drive or turn over again? I’ve got the 21 Corolla and got into a wreck pretty minor but it won’t turn over at all now

Btw, i know you have a corolla, but the device is still the same, since it plugs up through the obd2/3 port.

I hate the assist. It scares me its like someone steering against my steering. Doesn't seem safe to me at all

@Cynthia Deviva right!! Idk what I did but it's off and I'm keeping it that way lol. I think i just kept holding it down for a long time and it finally worked. It really makes you feel uneasy and it's scary

Rented a ram 1500 back in 2019 that had lane keep assist. I hated it. I had to keep fighting with the vehicle for control, all because it didn't feel like I was in the exact center of the lane. After I got to the gas station to fill up, I looked up how to disable that crap. Made the trip so much better.

You have to either get the dealer to do it, or you have to get a scan-tool type odb2/3 device. I heard it cost between $30-$100. Basically it allows you to disable door chimes, ignition chimes, seatbelt chimes, and lane departure chimes. Basically if you have a feature that chimes, you can disable it, individually.

Pcs is always going off for no reason. If i didn't have it turned all the way down, it would have caused me to get rear ended. Even when I am slowing down, sometimes it decides that it will do it for me, and that results in the truck slamming it's brakes, even though it's not needed. I end up fighting the vehicle for control. It pisses me off.

I almost got into an accident today because of the PCS. Guy in front of me was slowing down to take a left turn, so I slowed down too. Note that I had 40+ feet of clearance between us. PCS decided I wasn’t slowing down enough and decided to brake automatically for me, making all my stuff fall to the floor, making my tires screech, and making everyone else behind me brake hard as well.

If you read the 198 pages in the owners manual on how these systems work you will discover they don't work in a large number of driving conditions we drive in regularly. The number of situations when the braking system may activate when there is no emergency is a long list and I drive in conditions like that on a daily basis. This means I need the system off more than I need it one. Turning it off every time you cycle the car off and on is ridiculous. There should be an easier way.
