I've read that its sometimes difficult for mechanics to get around the plastic when servicing the brakes so that's when you may run into problems.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for! One of mine fell off rolling down the interstate lol not one sign of adhesive under it, but I couldn't replace just the cover since they don't sell them. I like the look of the black rims too. Now I know how to take the rest off. Too bad they all didn't fall off like my first one lol

Yeah, I'm guessing the rest will be a bit on the tougher side. 😕 But you might be able to be a bit rougher on the removal if you aren't trying to save the caps. Did you search online for replacements? I've seen a lot of aftermarket ones. Maybe they don't match well enough. My wife loves the black rims!

It really is a crazy that they cover those rims with plastic that you have to work so hard to get off. The wife is super happy with the rims now though. :)

The black wheels turned out great. Try Rapid Remover, very strong and works fast.

Did you guys try using a heat gun before scraping? Would that have softened the glue enough to possibly peel off?

Yeah, we put the rims out in the sun on a 100-degree day. Then, we used a heat gun as well. It helped a little, but it was less than I was hoping. 😢😪 🤣😂 It's just a lot of work! 😁

I would take the stupid covers off but leave the glue on them, and put a sticker on my rear bumper that says "Toyota pooped on my wheels" :)

Thank you. I'd say it took an hour to an hour and a half of diligently working on the adhesive to get it off. Also, the first rim took a little longer as we were just figuring out what worked and what didn't. Fun times. 🤣😂

I was able to post a couple of pictures on the community page. I posted a picture of each side of the van. 👍 These rims are one inch smaller than my wife's factory rims, and the tires are a little bigger. She liked the tires more before but is very happy with the outcome.

We used the center caps from the hubcaps. They pop out and right in to the rims.

Why are all the wheels going to a black finish? Once on with the wheel, they are hidden from site and the look of the car is lost.

Just super light surface scratches. Nothing more than life and a few car washes would give them.

Interesting! Did it look like these could have come off with a hammer with no damage to the painted rim? That's an honest question. These things were soooo stuck to the rims that I couldn't just pull them off. I definitely tried! LOL These rims also never saw the road. I wonder if that makes any difference. Hmmm...

No damage to the rim but the plastic was trash. Now for that dang goop! I have a rubber wheel on the way.
