My advice would be to make sure the mechanism is 100% clean and free of debris, I use spray on lithium grease

Accountability.... if these politicians would make thieves accountable for their crimes, we wouldn't be overwhelmed with break-ins and thefts

I got in through passenger door and held it unlocked and opened from inside

Did you figure it out? Same problem door is shut and can no open

@@Troy_Sent_A_Message I was prepared to remove both seats and the center console in order to have enough room to get in there to remove the panel, but even then I'm afraid it would have been a tight fit getting it out of there. Instead I got really really lucky. I stood outside and either used the key or the remote to repeatedly lock and unlock it while holding the handle in just the right place until I could feel it start to grab. Sometimes when I would lift the handle it would push the lock back down. But if you don't lift the handle up all the way eventually you'll get it to come up enough where it'll just barely grab and the door finally opened. I wish I could post some pictures and then I could Point some things out, but none of those matter because they're more about fixing the problem after you get the door panel off. Hope that helps and you get lucky like I did, it sure beats the alternative!

I have the same problem! Door is locked shut!

This is a 20 year old truck. " Bend It back" will do just fine 👍🏼

What cause it to bend ?

you don't have to, but it is a lot easier if you do

@@gofast228 At the moment, I'm finding the top of the rod impossible to remove from the door handle, and I've got the plastic clip disengaged. But when I pull the rod away it's not coming out of the hole, and the horizontal lever it attaches to has a ton of play in it, exacerbating the problem. I hate this defective design. They should have recalled this years ago.

Aaaand prying with a long skinny screwdriver popped the plastic retainer free of the handle mechanism. whereupon I learned the handle mechanism is broken. The horizontal level in "part 2" at the end of the video is supposed to be secured in a sort of plastic eyelet on he other end, as shown in the video. Mine broke there. Door handle still worked, but not great. Now to find a replacement and swap the lock over.

@@thenexthobby If the rod clip is disengaged and won't slide out, good chance the ear is bent and binding. I recommend a trim removal tool or a flat blade screwdriver to pry rather than pull and not break anything
