Excellent video, purchased the radio but was not the right fit for me but your customer service was beyond outstanding. Worked above and beyond to help me out and get me the product that worked best for my truck. Cannot thank you enough for taking the time and effort that you did.
Thank you for your AWESOME feedback, Eric! We're super pumped we've found the best head unit for you!! Thanks for all your patience while we worked through your issue!
First time seeing your content. First time visiting your website. Purchased exactly this unit today. Excellent offering and a bargain in my opinion. I was researching an option for plug and play with Apple CarPlay and I'll be damned if Trail Grid wasn't made for me.
Hello that radio looks great I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma SR5 access cab there are speakers in the back half doors but the Raido I believe is the base model with the knobs up top Do I need a different bezel for this radio…..I do have SiriusXM subscription on this radio is it hard to switch to your Sony Ok thank You Burt
The SR5 uses a slightly smaller frame around the radio - and we build our bundles for SR5 models accordingly! No worries there! Our bundles are also Sirius XM compatible, and we have the Sirius XM Tuner add-on available from the drop-down menus on our product page!
Great question! Aftermarket head units are designed to go into a wide variety of vehicles, and to have matching microphone ports for every vehicle would be impossible.
Does the AX7000 work in the 2020 tacoma with plug and play? Can you get rid of the beep every time you hit a button? Lastly, can you hook up the oem mic? Thank you..
It would refreshing to see this same video showcasing a Tacoma SR Access Cab 2020 like mine. Not every Toyota customer may have the income to afford a full accessorized TRD PRO top of the line SPORT model. I am interested in upgrading my stock stereo unit, which is so basic, it's pathetic. I want to upgrade to the Alpine ILX-507 unit. Nothing against the SONY options, I had a alpine years ago and absolutely loved it. So I feel now it's time to replace my present unit with something far better. At the price point of the Alpine or even the affordable less expensive SONY, I can have great sound again. I hope the fine folks at Trail Grid Pro will take my suggestion into mind. Thank you .
That's a great point! We also don't have the capacity to have every possible trim level at our disposal, but we're working on making our install guides and videos as universal as possible! We have an in-house media team working full-time to produce new videos as we speak!
Thank you very much. Looking forward to seeing more vids in the future. I am still making little decision changes as to the exact stereo I will purchase. @@TrailGridPro
Nice video. Im wondering if you can disable the noise of the beeps when pressing things, most importantly turning up/down volume using steering wheel controls.
The Sony 7000 does have WebLink screen mirroring capability to you can mirror your phone. If you’re looking for HDMI capability for video playback check out of Sony 8100 bundle: trailgridpro.com/shop/head-units/sony-xav-ax8100-plug-play-bundle-16-19-tacoma/
It maintains sound very well! Everyone reports a better audio experience over stock! We don’t have much experience with the PAC amp pro, but I’d love to here your thoughts if you’re familiar with it!
Great video! I was reading on some of the high powered Sony HU's you have to run it's on power straight from the battery. Have you had to do that on any of these?
Check and make sure the dip switches on your PAC module are 1,2,3 as “off” and 4 as “on” - for more support his us up at support@trailgridpro.com or call us tomorrow during business hours (9am - 5pm EST) and we’ll get ya taken care of: 301.835.9100.
Great question - all of our kits do require use of our provided Sony microphone but we have a mic mount we include with our kits that allows you to hide our Sony mic in the headliner console: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X5_02EtAWko.html
Is it possible to use the factory mic that comes with the car? The one that is used for bluetooth calls etc? I've got a 2016 tacoma with the factory bluetooth music/phone stereo. I'm hoping to get the Sony 7000 and I'm just curious if it's possible to use the mic the car already seems to have, instead of mounting a new one.
Thanks for your question! Unfortunately the factory mic cannot be retained. Our provided Sony mic has to be used. Let us know if we can help with anything else!
We appreciate your patience! It’s hard to tell on timing because we’re not getting any clear information regarding stock. It’s not anyone’s fault, it’s just the way global commerce is currently due to the chip shortage. We’re hoping it won’t be more than a month. Stay tuned!
Thanks for your comment and for watching! At what “time” in the video are you referring to seeing gaps? That would help us be able to make sure we’re both looking at the same thing so I can accurately answer your question. Thanks!
Great video. I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The radio I have in mine is the basic no JBL without GPS and SiriusXm. Will this radio work, or do I need other special attachments. Thanks.
I have a manual Tacoma and the reverse camera will not come on automatically when I put the truck in reverse. Any idea why or how I can fix that. Thanks
Hey there. Considering purchasing this for my '17 Limited. I have an aftermarket subwoofer in it, how would installing this bundle affect it? Would it work automatically?
Thanks for your interest! All you'd need to do is connect your amps power wire to the blue/white stripe wire in our harness and use the provided sub outs on the back of the radio. It's that easy!
Great question - our bundles do require use of our provided Sony mics. We do include a mic mount with our bundles that allows you to store our mic in the overhead console: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dSlZAypJo04.html Also, have you seen our new Tacoma bundles? We have the Sony 9500ES: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b9flb4gbCOw.html And, the Sony 6000 or 4000: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--2_8MZuEd3A.html
Just got the Sony ax 3200 for some respn my steering wheel controls ain't working and it the back up camare on work if I press the camara button on the screen. Please HELP
Thank you for your kind words! The mic has a clip that comes with it and clips perfectly to the dash panel in front of the gauges and doesn’t block the view at all.
My JBL AMP blew up, or died in my 2016 Tacoma... will this bypass the factory AMP, or will need to do other wiring or replace the factory AMP? Any help would be awesome?
Great question - so our kit is designed to be used with the factory system - but our kit works for non-amplified or amplified kits. So, you can certainly get our kit to work without an amp or with an aftermarket amp no problem.
Does this unit have Bluetooth built in? Wondering because you have to usb for Apple Car Play… can this be accomplished with Bluetooth connection as current in my 2018 TRD Off Road.
Great question! So, a wired connection is required for the Apple CarPlay interface to launch, but the system still has Bluetooth capability for playing music, phone calls, etc.
does this unit have to be connected to the parking brake in order to use some functions? I dont have a tacoma have a honda ridgeline but considering this stereo. Good content Thanks Robert
Yea, not all functions are available while driving but everything you would need is active while drinking and you’ll also have the capability to use voice commands.
Does this bundle retain the oem volume buttons? My stock headunit is broken but everything I see says I need to not only buy a headunit but also the idata module thing for an additional $160 to retain steering wheel buttons
Great question! Our bundle maintains your factory USB location under your head unit that when connected to your phone allows you to launch Apple CarPlay.
Awesome video. Couple questions on your product. Do you retain the sensor beeps when backing up the vehicle? Someone mentioned the auto unlock for the doors, do we loose that feature? Lastly if i have the jbl stock amp and all that... will it boost the volume as it is aftermarket? Thanks in advance
Thanks for your kind words! Honestly, that’s a great question regarding the sensor beeps. I believe they’re retained because they are a product of the sensors and your vehicles audio capabilities but I could be wrong. You will lose the ability to select or unselect Auto Unlock from the head unit. Our bundle provides a clearer signal than factory so it will definitely sound as if it’s louder, but in fact it’s just a cleaner and clearer signal which gives off that impression.
Thanks 🙏 for the video I like your phone mount in photo you guys sell that one? Also would you be getting a larger screen in dash for third gen tacoma soon ? thanks 🙏
So, the mount was the customers and we don’t sell them, unfortunately. I’m not sure what brand it is. We’ll have a Sony 8000 version soon for the Tacoma’s! It’s an 8.95” panel screen.
Thanks 🙏 for the info That’s awesome would that be plug and play for Trd off road jbl system 16 tacoma ? Do u know a price on that and maybe a time frame thanks 🙏
@@williamm4554 Yep, it'll be plug and play for a 16 Tacoma w/ JBL. We have them ready - they're just not on the site yet. If you want one, I can certainly easily build it and ship it to you. It's the exact same install as the 7000 in this video. Just a larger screen. The price will be $808 shipped. If you're interested in learning more, simply email us at support@trailgridpro.com
Yep, Toyota changed all the wiring behind the head unit in 2020. We're currently working on a 2020+ version as we speak! We hope to have it ready in about a month or so.
Our bundle comes with a mic provided by Sony and in the install portion of the video we mention how we recommend running the mic. When your bundle ships, we’ll provide an FAQ document which contains a link to the exact point in the video where we talk about running the mic if you don’t feel like watching the video again, lol.
@@TrailGridPro No I saw that I was just wondering if the trucks on mic in the roof could not be used. I don't think I saw that addressed in the video unless I missed it.
@@TraddSlayton Ah, I’m sorry. Misunderstood the question. Unfortunately the factory mic cannot be reused. The Sony mic is required for voice commands with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Aloha! I’ve been considering buying this product for my 2017 toyota tacoma. Does every kit come pre-built or would i have to watch a separate video on how i would have to build everything? I also have a subwoofer installed in my Tacoma will that mess everything up?
Thanks for watching and commenting! Every bundle is prebuilt to our customers specific vehicle before it leaves the shop to you! Other than installing the system, there’s nothing you’ll have to put together. If you’re referring to having the OEM JBL subwoofer, our bundle works perfectly with it. If you have an aftermarket subwoofer, you’ll just need to connect everything to the Sony bundle but we have guys do that all the time themselves.
Well, yes our bundle can be built with a 5000, but we don’t have spare harnesses as we marry the provided Sony harness to the PAC interface harness … so we need the original Sony harness to make it work.
@@TrailGridPro thank you! I’m super excited about this and the new model with the larger screen! Are there more details on how to wire and place the mic on the dash?
@@kevrobinson2000 Did you already see this portion of the video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W5oBSs_xGcg.html) and you're wondering if we have more details? If so, that's all we have for now but when the head unit is removed it's fairly easy to fish the wire from the microphone near the gauge cluster to back behind the radio if you remove that small panel we mention which allows you to fish the wire through to behind the radio.
@@TrailGridPro perfect thank you. I did see the part of the video with the mic explanation, but didnt see the mic or the install process so was wondering exactly what it entailed.
@@kevrobinson2000 Ah, gotcha! Yea, it’s really just about fishing the wire from the steering column to behind the radio. Not super challenging once you have everything in front of you after the radio is removed. If you have any specific questions we’re happy to help!
I have a 2019 with just the regular radio in it, not the factory Android auto/Apple CarPlay one. Will the one you are installing just plug and play with this the one I have or is this an upgrade to the factory android auto/CarPlay one that already comes in some of the Tacoma’s? I’m not sure if the wiring harnesses are different between the two
Great question! Our kit does require use of our provide Sony microphone. That being said, we have a mount that allows you to use the factory mic location with our provided Sony microphone: trailgridpro.com/shop/accessories/sony-microphone-mount-16-19-tacoma/
Yep, you can retains Sirius/XM and GPS is functional through Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto where you’ll have access to Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze.
Great question! It does not but you’ll have Apple Maps, Waze or Google Maps able to speak turn by turn directions to you while also providing alerts on your head unit.
Yes, you absolutely can! Let us know if you have any other questions or visit the product page for more details: trailgridpro.com/shop/audio/sony-xav-ax7000-plug-play-bundle-16-19-tacoma/
Is it normal for the speakers to start at different intervals then all be on? I realized as a song starts playing it will start in the rear then start playing in the front.
No, that shouldn’t happen. That’s the built in fading retention feature of the PAC module and the amplifier not communicating correctly at the moment - it can sometimes happen depending on the order the plugs were plugged in. I’ll send you the instructions to perform a reset of the PAC module and also the simple instructions to turn off the fading capability feature to avoid it altogether.
@Trail Grid Pro nice set up either way. Thanks for the help. I'll look into it. Do you happen to have a setup with a larger screen? I'm looking into upgrading but still shopping around. There was a company selling a kit with the alpine halo, but now it's not available.
@@TrailGridPro I'm ready to buy a head unit and I would like to buy it from you guys if possible. Is there any other newer units with 400 watt? If not I guess this one will do.
I have a early 2016 SR with a basic radio and a smaller dashboard radio opening. Do I need to get the dashboard with a 7" opening to be able to install this? Thanks!
Hi Matt, did you plug in the rear camera harness? Trace the rear camera harness back from the yellow RCA connection plugged in to the back of the radio. It’s an additional harness that needs to be plugged in along with the 3 vehicle connectors. That problem may be connected to the parking brake issue - so if the rear camera plug isn’t plugged in, it may be causing both issues.
If you need additional info on the rear camera harness, we sent an email a couple days ago titled “Sony Installation Tips” and that has more details about the rear camera. If that doesn’t do the trick, email us at support@trailgridpro.com and we’ll get you taken care of.
So, we don’t have it as a product on the website yet (it’s coming soon) - but we know exactly how to build it and if you’d like one we’d be super happy to build one and ship it to you. If you’re interested, send us an email to support@trailgridpro.com that you’re interested in a quote - we’ll ask some more questions about your Tundra and build you a quote for your rig.
how does this affect the Tacoma's settings? for example, i like to have "auto ac" off in colder months and on during summer as well as being a construction worker i do change the door lock settings sometimes based on where i have to park my truck.
Great question! So, any settings you accessed via your head unit won’t be accessible anymore, but anything you can still access in your heads up display between your gauges can still be modified.
Thanks for your question! We combine a couple different parts to create the bundle and build the harness ourselves in-house. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
We have two 7000’s left in stock and after these go, which will probably be tonight, it could be June before we’ll have more. Thanks for your question and for watching! We appreciate ya!
@@TrailGridPro just ordered it. Really looking forward to it! I have to say the only thing im bummed about is the microphone, but i cant deal with this terrible Entune unit anymore.
@@mattspry3761 Thanks so much for your order! I hear you about the mic, but unfortunately our bundle isn’t compatible with the factory mic. We tried! Lol.
Our kit has an adapter that connects plug and play to the factory USB connector that previously plugged in to the factory radio. Thanks for your question!
