Mine arrived yesterday. Installed in 3 minutes. No need for Velcro or mounting the device. I put it in the open space behind the console. Routing it through the steering column will complicate removal when you need service. Plus I will use Bluetooth exclusively. I settled on city +2 for everyday driving. Much better throttle response. And eliminated my biggest gripe with the TRD exhaust…the helicopter drone when the stupid throttle mapping would force an up shift before it was needed in an attempt to save fuel. Very happy with this. It transformed my driving experience.

I hit the main highway and it literally feels like any of my GT'S during takeoff .. The torque is amazing..also turn off your ABS for more fun...Be careful because the weight on my Chuck TAYLOR SHOES SHOT ME BACKWARDS.. I personally like city 4 but try them all ..IT FREAKIN WORKS..ALSO IT CLEARLY SAYS NOT TO CHANGE MODES WHILE DRIVING...MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR IT CAN MESS IT UP..Stop before you change a setting...also spray your pedal with wd40 to clean and tell me im wrong.....Its bad ass

Not recommended if your tundra is supercharged. Just add Quantum solenoids for both exhaust and intake. You’ll feel the gear change more efficiently. Pedal commander helps your throttle response but doesn’t add any HP so when you hit the top end, the truck flattens out. The PC does help if you need to pass on a lane change. I used the PC before I added my supercharger and the best setting to me was the Sport +3. Supercharger is very expensive but adding 150HP is a big difference from just improving the throttle.

Question - Everything I see about the pedal commander is for "instant response" or "snappy response". We have a 2012 Tundra 5.7L and I find the accelerator pedal is too touchy when we launch from a stop, the truck is too digital, meaning even when we try to launch smoothly it will jerk and dump anything from the dash console; it is hard to launch smoothly in out stock Tundra Limited 5.7. I am wondering if using this in city with a low response setting would help the truck launch "smoother" without becoming a slug. We also tow a travel trailer which I use the trailer mode that is built into the truck, would you recommend using the pedal commander in place of or with the trailer mode?
@TrailGridPro
@TrailGridPro 2 года назад
So, all good questions. We found the stock throttle response to be slow that doesn’t have a jerk to it which is why we added the Pedal Commander to give it more of a throttle response. It’s interesting that you find yours to be not very smooth as stock. It’s certainly possible the Pedal Commander could level it out - but from our experience with Toyota’s and PC’s the addition of the PC gives it a quicker respond in City, Sport and Sport+ and a slower response in Eco which saves MPG’s. Sorry, not sure if that’s helpful but that’s our experience!
@clee3352
@clee3352 2 года назад
Like you said, City on the lowest setting or even Eco mode could possibly help with the jerky launch. When towing, you could turn the PC off or use it along with the built in Trailer mode.

Mark i just upgraded from a 2012 Tundra Crewmax to the 2018 Tundra Crewmax, both of which are an SR5 and the throttle response on the 2018 is WAY different. My 2012 was much more instantaneous, the 2018 feels sluggish in comparison. They must have made a programming adjustment along the way. I just ordered the pedal commander for my 2018 because I miss that feeling but I would assume that the eco or city mode would probably help alleviate some of that snappiness.

I have a supercharged tundra and I have found doing this is a night and day difference to the truck's get up a go response. Problem I have when driving like this is getting good traction to the back wheels. The backend easily breaks loose because of all the torque going to a light backend. I believe all these traction safety features that Toyota has on by default is what really holds the truck's performance back. I noticed you were driving in the rain and it didn't appear like you backend ever broke loose. What are your thoughts? Adding a PC to a supercharged tundra would this work?

No matter what I did, after install, as soon I fired the truck up - dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Check engine, pre-collision system going off, traction control light, etc. It isn't that big of a deal to undo, you just pull the battery terminal for 10minutes or so and remove the pedal commander and the truck goes back to normal. I did this probably 12 times and always got the same result. Not saying you shouldn't buy it, just saying that it didn't work for me, and if you do indeed have some issues, undoing the codes it throws is a 10minute in your driveway affair.

any difference in gas mileage ?

ECO mode will save you MPG's. City, Sport and Sport+ are all a faster throttle response and result is less MPG's.

Loved the product but eventually during a travel it effected my computer and had me stranded in the middle of nowhere in Az. Dealership did detect it but kept a hush hush if I paid out of pocket to avoid getting my warranty tossed out the window. $2500 later I said fuck pedal commander. All it does us make your throttle more sensitive.

@@TrailGridPro yeah it was great to have. Had mine for ten months. I would highly recommend not using the pedal commander during long travels with the cruise control on. My only guess why it could've affected my computer and crankshaft sensor.

How did the dealership detect it?
@DL-vt2gi
@DL-vt2gi 2 года назад
@@scottrempel7243 A deep diagnostics performed by the head mechanic found it when the regular shop diagnostic machine didn't catch it. The Pedal commander absorbed too much power and caused interference with the computer. A problem associated mostly with Dodge.

Ya, read the manual. Don’t change settings when moving. Also, why aren’t you using Bluetooth?
@TrailGridPro
@TrailGridPro 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! Our contacts at Pedal Commander suggested not to change settings while accelerating, but while moving was perfectly okay. We don’t change settings very often in real life, so changing settings on the module is easy enough for us, however you’re right / the Bluetooth capability is pretty awesome!

Push the “tow mode” button and save yourself hundreds. This peddle commander is notorious for causing issues, people have regularly stated their throttle is either inop until it’s unplugged or that it sticks which could cause serious harm or death. Don’t buy it

Thanks for commenting! We've had these in our company trucks for years with no issues, as well as many happy customers who love them! If the install procedure is followed correctly, it's very unlikely to see issues with this unit!

Thanks for the tip! Pedal Commander instructions state that you shouldn't change modes while accelerating. As long as you don't have your foot on the pedal it's okay to change modes while moving.
