Toyota Gazoo Racing test with Tommi Mäkinen the Yaris WRC 2017 on spanish tarmac for first time! Video by Jaume Soler "Please do not download this video and reupload it on Facebook or RU-vid"
They should make some street versions of these cars. Like the good old days with Escort Cosworth, Celica GT Four, Impreza STI, Lancia Delta Integrale...
Kaisuke971 yeah I've heard. Back then when I wrote the comment they didn't announce that yet. I'm glad to hear they are starting to make some exiting cars again. Just having a gt86 in the lineup is not enough. They need a entry-level performance cars too
sasajungic89 What would be even cooler is if they build a Gazoo GT86, with actual tyres and Aero (maybe ditching the back seats too). So it can be a real performance car not just an entry level FR whatever.
Mark Jones it's the catalyst that's glowing they put right out at the back to keep it away from the turbo and keep it from melting from the als flames.
well tommi is an instructor now and i can be in finland in less than 2 hours. I want some rally lessons. much time with playstation makes me itch to try the real deal.
Es un "kit" aerodinámico, no un mero kit de ensanche. Entonces importa más la función que la estética - y un buen ejemplo es el Yaris final: tiene un alerón trasero mucho más grande y "deforme", que no es muy estético visto de perfil, pero funciona.
The backend looks pretty spectacular, seems like its not on point handling wise though. Seems like they are dealing with loads of understeer even on slow corners
It's more the teams that choose to use a hatchback instead of sedans. Rally cars needs to be agile in the corners and hatchbacks with their short wheelbase (compared to sedans) is the perfect base for them.
its purely based on what gives the team better results. Small sedans worked but they were getting larger by each generation. Hatchbacks have basically retained their sizes for decades now.
The body modifications look a bit too dramatic compared to the other WRC cars. Don't get why they didn't choose the Auris since it's a slightly larger car and visually would look closer to the road version.
I actually have not driven one yet. But what I was saying is that the Yaris looks like a good Group B rally car. Hopefully the FIA will bring back Group B rallying with some good safety regulations...
The ANT manufacturer can try crazy things and test extreme conditions of their techs in these rally cars so it definitely will influence toyota on obvious side and in-obvious side
so it will have a similar impact that imprezas and cosworths made to the sales of the road cars. hmm, I don't think so. look at the difference it has made to vw, ford and hyundi sales.
Only the ia sedan, which would be foolish to get for anything other than Mazdas infotainment setup. Hopefully Toyota just has some left over contract from scion they have to fulfill because the 2 has abysmal reliability and parts availability versus the Yaris which is like any other slowly evolved Toyota.
James Coburn dont get me wrong he is a great driver and everything but his driving style is not fit with the new generation of wrc cars, his style makes me think about mcrae wich also was a great driver but thats just not the way to go about with these new cars
Le nuove WRC andranno anche....Ma non si posso guardare....sembrano delle merde da tuning....forse si salva solo leggermente la Hyundai....che pena pensando ai vecchi wrc anni 90
