TOYS R US EXCLUSIVE R2 D2 INTERACTIVE ROBOTIC DROID VIDEO TOY REVIEW 

Excellent! Explained so well that even a two-year-old can understand. :) I just found one of these yesterday on a tree belt for free, only, the remote controller is missing. I'll try to find one. Also, there was another R2-D2 of the same size, but, it's basically a statue; only has the two outer legs; has a battery compartment without any metal battery terminals; the buttons are stationary; and, it has no manufacturing or copyright markings at all!?!? When the head is turned manually, it sounds as if there are gears and/or a motor inside. I don't know what the story of this version is, maybe a model kit...but, without any markings!?!? There was also a 31-inch K-2SO droid. Beats me why they tossed these out!?!? All are in such great condition that I doubt that any of them has ever been played with by a child. My interactive droid says "Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope" when the hologram lights up. Like your droid, mine also 'knocks' loudly when the head moves from side to side!?!? Everything seems to work without the remote, only, it works randomly - can't give it direct orders without the remote. Do you (or, anyone) know if a remote can be ordered through the factory? Not a bad toy! It really does seem like it's loud though. LOL! It's really cool how they keep making their toys more improved over the past few years. I remember the times where there was a controllable R2-D2 similar to this one, but it couldn't do as much stuff as this one. And that was back in 2008! And to see things like that Yoda and BB-8, it sure is impressive how they improve in such a short time. I even remember the times when I was little, where the best things we got were Plug-and-play systems. Overall, neat toy Mightmouse74. :)

I have the interactive R2 By hasbro and love him to death :D I think this one would make a nice friend for him :D Can you do a comparison review on hasbros and thinkways to see how they would get along?

I really love this droid. It's a lot of fun controlling it and figuring out its nuances. The Canadian version doesn't have the Princess Leia audio clip unfortunately but there's still a lot of charm with this R2-D2. Since this doesn't actually recognize voice commands, Thinkway Toys had to lower the sensitivity of the mic so it doesn't activate to every load noise. It seems you have to yell at R2 at close range in order for that feature to work. It's a bit disappointing but it's still neat. Thanks for the comparison with the older Hasbro version. I always wondered how they would compare.

I have the old one from Hasbro, doesn't have a remote. But the value has gone up. But this one is cool man, thanks for the review!

Mine just came in, it's awesome. Pricey but awesome, it even looks good just standing there. BTW make sure you have batteriesgalore available, these things are electrical vampires.
