I'm glad you made MB vs Mb clear because it's irritating how many people mix these up. When you say something they often respond "what's the difference?" in a dismisive tone. The difference is 800%. LOL.
Awesome Review! :D Was already very set on buying this after my first research, but this definitely seals the deal! Even the knowledge about the App make this purchase so much more exciting for me. Thank you!
This is for the budget an excellent WIFI-6 router. One this about TP-LINK's 'OneMesh System' I'm curious do you have to have 2 routers supporting OneMesh? I asked my country's Tp-link spokesperson and they said you need 1 OneMesh supported router and others have to be OneMesh supported Range Extender. Can you confirm that 2 routers (not range extender) that support OneMesh can be used together as mesh system?
Yes correct .... From TP-Link's website regarding "OneMesh" .... "OneMesh only works between a OneMesh router and OneMesh Wi-Fi Extenders/Powerlines. The following models including their subsequent versions are compatible with OneMesh." www.tp-link.com/us/onemesh/product-list/ Therefore think the video's author made a mistake here ....
It does appear I have made a mistake based on this link. I’m curious to test it out though, not sure why this would be the case when Asus makes the AiMesh and you can connect router to router which was my assumption here for OneMesh.
Thanks! At 3000sqf, a mesh wifi will suit your needs better unless you plan on getting two of these. If you don't have ethernet cables throughout your home, meaning no way of connecting one router to another router (acting as an extender) then I suggest you look for a tri band mesh wifi or quad band mesh wifi (this is currently very expensive). A good tri band system for a good price is the TP Link Deco X68. It all depends on what you're trying to achieve and how fast your internet is. Tri Band Mesh Wifi would be a good start
I JUST purchased an AX55 tp link router and it refuses to connect to the internet. The internet light is always orange. It is not my isp - i have an old router (which i wanted to replace) that easily works when plugged in. So it's not any of the cables either. The modem is brand new, it is a satellite internet modem. I have tried almost all of the troubleshooting problems (all the ways to restart/reset). I managed to use the tether app to find the router - so i can connect to it wirelessly, but still cannot manage to get it to connect to the internet. There are some other ways that talk about physically connecting the router to the computer - but that is difficult for me (hence having a good wireless router - computer room is opposite in the house). Any tips to try before i sent this piece of junk back to tp link?
thank you for your review! I saw your comment saying that you don't use this router anymore,(assuming you upgraded?) which one do you use now? if you don't mind.
No problem. I'm always changing what I'm using since I'm constantly testing new ones. But if I had to choose to use one from everything I have, it would either be the Deco BE85 or Orbi 970 since my internet speeds are 5Gbps and these can handle those speeds
Hi, thank you very much for the review! I have a question you may answer: Being this router (wifi6) backwards compatible, would it be possible to set a ONE MESH configuration, combining wifi6 and wifi5 tp-link devices? Something like this router (AX55 AX3000) with a TP-Link EAP245? Thank very much in advance!
My house has steel siding and my current Arris router provided by my ISP really struggles to get through it to provide me with a strong enough signal for my doorbell cameras, etc. do you think this one would be powerful enough to push through that?
Depends how big your house is, you can try this or the AX73 or just get a mesh system like the Deco X20 or eero 6+, the mesh systems will reach easily.
Can I just use it to route the wi-fi from the modem to it? Meaning without connecting it with the ethernet cable to the modem, but having it as a wi-fi point. Using WPS connection
ax55 vs ax50? what you recommend. I have concrete roofs, Main device is at 1st floor and want have signals at ground floor. Ill place the router at 1st floor.
I bought an AX50 for my brother house, solid performance! now i'm moving from his house for my own house i'm buying this AX55! Not much of an upgrade but worth every penny!
Hi, I really enjoy your YT vids and find them quite helpful. One area that I need advice about pertains to making my desktop PC into my server, as you often do, so as to bypass your ISP for speed testing. I cannot find a vid on doing that, so please provide that link. Thanks.
Thanks! I use something called OpenSpeedTest Server which is an app that runs on my computer. Several people have asked about this so I do plan on making a video about it but I do have a few others I need to get to at this time.
I don't know It's less than or equal to 253 in theory. I would think the limit applies as a general rule of thumb between the main and the guest network cause that's a limitation of what the router can do. I have around 60 devices between main and guest network and it handles that just fine.
I look at them in terms of performance rather than their chips. There is probably a good reason they switched but I'm not sure as long as it gets good performance, that's all I care about. Now with my desktop, I would almost always opt for more cores since I do lots of editing, that really pushes the CPU, so more cores is better.
Hi landpet, i've never had a mini router so i don't know anything about it, i know that this can be a stupid question but I can plugg it in my Xbox series s right?
@@mrdentredo8676 Yes, in order to get internet access to your devices, your router needs to be plugged into your modem via an ethernet cable through the WAN port.
I can’t remember honestly if this one supports it or not. I may mention it in this more recent video of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k4nB6IilH5A.html If I mention it, it will be towards the end of the video when I show the app (I have chapters setup). Feel free to skip there. Hopefully this helps. I do know for a fact that just about any recent Asus router supports VPN.
I don’t know how it is in Australia but generally speaking, it should work so as long as you have a modem with an Ethernet port to connect to this router.
I have this one and honestly for me its really bad i only get 85mbps and for wifi i get the exact same thing is there a way to fix this? I am on pc btw
How fast are your internet speeds? Are you connected via Ethernet or WiFi? If it’s WiFi, what type of WiFi card are you using? Is it capable of WiFi 6? Try with another device like a phone to see what you get. One thing I would try is to restart both your modem and router if you haven’t done so already
Tip for my German Fellows: Unfortunately you're probably not gonna be able to use TP-Link products with any provider 'cause German Providers suck like that apparantly :/ So Double Check with your Provider if you're gonna be able to use this router, 'cause I sadly couldn't...
@@Mujahed. German Companies like Telekom or Vodafone won't let you use any other Router other than their own or the Fritz Box because of some Software apparantly. I don't know why they do that but I hate it
@@infentex3801 Have you tried connecting a cable from your ISP provided modem to any 3rd party router, and putting your ISP modem on Bridge Mode? Theoretically that should work since it's your right to use any router you want, you just have to use their modem as the source. Our telecom companies here (Saudi Arabia) impose many limitations on users, but they let us put their modems on bridge mode.
its a shame you didnt show how to pair them, connect them with cable and create one network with one name and password- the video didnt show what its promised.
I cannot believe the speeds you guys are able to get in the U.S. Up to a Gig is crazy. Here in Australia, the most we can get is a paltry 100Mb/sec and I'm not kidding. That's it ! Our stupid Govt spent hundreds of billions of dollars rolling out a fiber network and this is the best we can do. I am ashamed !
I have since upgraded to 5Gbps upload and download but I do get the occasional comment asking about which routers to choose for a 10Gbps connection. I had to upgrade cause of these new wifi 7 routers, they are beyond fast even over wireless backhaul. I did a video demoing the speeds here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--j2GJRdc2zI.html
+ VPN test slow down bits for pull and push on the Mac address. In short...it will slow the speed down which would throw off the test results...VPN=Security which equals slower speed to ensure security... that's another reason why...no VPN test! Can't ask for speed when your locked down for security bits of data...that's not how a gate watcher or gate keeper works...which is what a VPN does..
There are better options now but still good for the price. But some of the better options like the Archer BE9300 cost more so it really depends on price.
I just ordered this to replace my 6 year old Linksys wrt3200 that has been having issues. It keeps dropping the 2.4 network some of my stuff still needs. Then I have to reboot. Sometimes it will lose connection to the modem too. I hear TP link is very good for the price and this one was very affordable. Good review. Hopefully it works out here.
Thanks for the great review! I am going onto a fibre connection, so I assume the WAN port is used in this case? Or does it use an ethernet port As I have done for my old netgear D7000 which has only ever been problematic.
OK. So biggist question I've had, once you buy it, do you have to pay for it monthly? If so how much? Oooor is this a wifi booster that connects to your network? I'm honestly new to this so bear with me
There are no fees once you buy it. But remember a router needs a modem with Internet to provide internet access. Routers job is really to take the internet signal coming from the modem and pass it on to your home devices either through ethernet or over wifi. That's a simplified explanation, there's a much more technical one since the router creates a NAT (Network Address Translation) which takes your WAN IP and creates a bunch of local IP Addresses and manages all the traffic in your home and provides internet access through the modem which typically does require a monthly subscription. If you watch this video, things will make a ton of sense: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-90BFxA2yEUY.html
What is the difference between the V1 and V2 versions in Tp Link? I heard that this archer tp link in the V2 hardware version is much better than V1 because it is already on a different Chipset. can you help?
Does the AX55 have better range than the AX21? Comparing between the two but can´t decided. It seems the conditions were not the same as the AX21 right?
I don't understand. Since I bought this router, my speed went down from 500mbps to 350mbps max... Wifi or cable. Didn't change anything else in my setup. Tried with my old router and it's back to 500. Any idea ?
A router works with your modem or ONT (device that provides internet access) to create a NAT which basically maps a bunch of private IP addresses to a single external IP address that is your assigned IP for the internet.
I haven’t tested them at the same place, I feel like it should get around the same. It’s more how fast the speeds decrease as you walk further away. I’ll be releasing the Deco X55 video in the next few days which is pretty similar to the X60. So you can compare the number in the range. I think the X55 goes further
Helloo 👋 Thanks a lot. Does this router AX 21. Support bandwidth control for each device alone by entering the IP and speeds for each device separately.????? Thanks very much
I haven't used this in some time but it has QoS so it should be able to do that to a certain degree. www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax21/v3/#specifications AX55 has it as well
