i got a pair of them bad boys for 2.5 dollars from a thrift shop today haven't tested yet if they actually works but they did light up when i got them tested before check out. thanks for the review i appreciate it.
Great video but it did not work for my customer, I had him buy a TP link two unit model such as the one in this video.. after more than an hour trying to set-up at a distance with him on the phone I gave-up, it seem that power line models work on the same electrical circuit, but when on a different circuit it may not function, so it got returned to Amazon. I told my customer to go and buy the Netgear wall plug wifi mesh single extender that was in-stock at his local Staples store. It has worked perfectly, my customer has an IP phone that is far from the router and requires a wired connection. With the WPS setup I was able to guide him over the phone. Really great during Covid as he is 79.
you could technically not reach beyond 100MBit/s, because its RJ45 Ports are Fast Ethernet limited, so it does not matter what the cable in between both adapters reaches, because it will always be cut down at every Port to 12 MByte/s (100MBit)!
Great video, I've got a question , is it possible my power line adapter is faulty as with wifi I get a 56 mpbs download and 12 up but with the power line adapter I only get like 5 mbps down and 0.7 Mbps up... the tests were done on both pc and PS4 and both gave me similar figures. Thanks in advance and great vid
So this is for the people that dont want an Ethernet cable going though the house and instead you just do this and you have wired connection to the ps4 for example?
Do you have to pair both the adapters to the router? Or do you have to pair one adapter to the router, and then pair the second adapter to the first one?
If i get it and plug it in to the second floor of a house and then plug the other one in the 1st floor in my house , will i be able to connect it to my pc and play games better? Remind you it's not the same house they are two different houses. Please answer to me
I have a problem. When I try to pair them, I believe they pair, but the wifi on my computer says, "limited" and I can't access internet features. Please help.
Redskull Do you mean that the TP-LINKs have to be on the same extension cord? Also, my computer only has Ethernet capabilities and cannot connect to wifi, but I haven't had a problem before. I have had both TP-LINKs on all 3 lights but still nothing happened with the internet connection. Is there a certain way I have to do things?
Like the others have said, in USA you have 2 phases that come into your home. If the 2 outlets are not on the same phase it won’t work. Try some other outlets nearby as that worked for me.
Yeah same for me the speed doesn’t increase but while gaming I just don’t get lost . Tbh it was an honest review that his speed is not increasing but it’s decent
I ain't getting the speeds you got in your video it seems capped at 10/10 on that speed test, and whenever I am downloading games, its capped at 2 MBPS
PLEASE HELP! I purchased a Philips hue light bulb kit that comes with 4 bulbs a a bridge and I’m having a lot of trouble with controlling them from my phone. Each bulb comes up “unavailable” on my phone even though I’ve reset them and manually connected each bulb to the bridge with the help of Philips hue tech support. I’m assuming my problem is because of how far away they are from the hue bridge. So I was looking at options of running an Ethernet cable from my router downstairs to my room on the second floor and the other side of my house. Do you think a TP-Link Powerline Adapter would work if I plugged my hue bridge Ethernet line into that so I could have it in the same room as my bulbs. I really don’t have much experience with things like this please help. Thanks
I live in the uk and they are really good I do recommend to get one but don't get the cheapest ones try go for a mid range price and you should be fine good luck
hi its works good please? i want buy one as my signal in bedroom upstairs is not good and i want connect camera near the bedrrom window its worth to buy it or not please?
the max transfer rate can be achieved is over a local network. Depending on what device your are using you could have even higher speeds than that, but it will be limited to 500
@redskull thaks for replying.I mean the ethernet port of this powerline adaptor supports maximum of 100mbps isnt it? no matter what device we use, we get max of 100 Mbps. is my understanding correect?
do you actually have to connect both of them (the first to the router and the second to the device) or yoo have to plug in just the first into the router and second is wireless?
Thank you very much! By the way when people call you Russian man is silly! You just happen to be born in Russia but the truth is that we all are the same, no matter where one is born. 👍🏻. Thank you again.
Excellent very thorough review. Just wish you actually had a WiFi problem (like 5 MB) that you improved to (60 MB), but in the locations you tested I understand it is what it is. I think I’ll pickup one of these for my PS4 in basement.
hi after doing it i saw improvements in my ps4 but not on my iphone. the connection on my iphone is still the same in terms of speed can any1 help me pls?
it is a socalled "Star Topology" in network, so every device could connect to a center like a router or switch! One Device is the entry point of LAN-cable wiring, the second Pair is the Outward-Point facing the wiring to the router or switch!
As usual, I can't find information. Redskull, I just bought this PA4010 and before even trying to connect I'd like to know if this will broadcast the wifi signal to my smart tv - which has no hard internet in port.
Are the powerlines in your house new or old? I'm thinking of buying a plc repeater and I'm not sure that it's gonna work at its full speed in my house because it was built in 1979.
I know this is a late comment, but my internet speed is horrible where I live and I get 1-3 mb/s down. There isn't a faster plan. I play online video games and I always lag unless I'm the only one on the internet. My siblings watch Netflix and it takes all the bandwidth. So, do these decrease internet speed? And also, if I get this, will I get a good connection when my siblings are also using the wifi?
Can the second adaptor be used for just wifi without using the telephone cable thing? I'm trying to get wifi down to my basement from a router upstairs
I would like to use this for my bedroom on the second floor. It would be primarily used for streaming video and broadcasting video. Would this be adequate? I have an extremely fast internet connection but sadly this old house is made of materials that prevent a WiFi signal. I was thinking this might be my answer! thoughts?
A respectful comment. Go right to the explanation. We all know what a box is and the cables it has in it with the equipment, etc. Most us us would appreciate if those who do the explanation do so right away.
Redskull thanks for the reply I’ve had it in the same place for pretty much over 1 year and it’s been perfect just today it’s been acting up it’s working for a few minutes then it’s going off again would you reckon it could be the plugs?
+Redskull thank you,I've got TL-PA2010KIT, at day its fine, but in the evening, its just 3-4Mb/s since my ISP speed is 20Mb. I wonder if it is due to my old AV200 TL-PA2010 brand or electrical noise. I still feel quite skeptical about powerlime adapter capability.
Huy Lê Đức you know how you can try it the best? make a network between 2 computers thru the powerline adapters and transfer a big file from one computer to another. you will see the real speed of your powerline this way
Huy Lê Đức yeah I have the same speed most of the time... it usually decreases between 5 and 8 pm...when the network is busy. Could be from your internet provider...
ok im thinking of ordering this exact set but im wondering if i buy 2 kits soo i have 4 boxes total can i hook all of them up on the same? like one it the router and 3 around the house?
+Olav Øverland yeah, they will work, you may have to pair them but it's quite simple. It depends how your house is set-up... I have a room that doesn't seem to be on the same circuit with the power outlet by the router where the first one is connected.
if it's a different power circuit you won't be able to pair them, only if they are on the same one. Most smaller houses should have only one thruout the house. It depends how big the house is
hey I have a question I have this tp link set up and has improved my internet speed for my computer upstairs...now I've been getting accused by my brother using another computer downstairs connected through a different Ethernet cable connected to the same router as well that I am "stealing" all the internet is this true
Redskull Lol ty I wish you can explain it to my family because their not tech genius, but my brother has convinced them to say I need to disconnect my tplink now I have shit WiFi again :/
I need something to connect to my hotspot that has an Ethernet port. I need it to come from a atnt hotspot that has no Ethernet port that can make it be able to run an Ethernet port out of it. So connect wirelessly then have a wired connection from it
My record measured download speed was 54mbps (fluke). Claimed average is ~20mbps. Downloading a game steam shows anywhere between 1-2.5mbps. How bad is that?
Great vid! Is there a difference between the AV500 and AV200? Our internet only get up to 40 mbps (hardwired) and 15 mpbs on wifi. Would the av200 get me close to 40 mbps? And would av500 be overkill? TIA
how's everything going sir question I have Comcast internet service provider in my back room from my apartment I can't get no WiFi connection trying to hookup too android Tv box and Xbox one it works fine everywhere else in the apartment
I am late to your video but i was wondering if i plug this in to my console if it will speed up my console but make everyone else's internet slower or will it make everything faster?
well it will make your console a bit faster for internet usage, but it may slow down the speed on your network since your console will get more bandwith
Thank you. One more question. Could the second extender be moved around the house. In other words I want to find best use of it, second floor or basement
Would this work being plugged into my phone line then the second one plugged into my router to give me an internet connection so I can say move my router up stairs where there is no phone line ?
my Wi-Fi reaches my room but it's slow and sometimes lags I went on my ps4 to check my Internet speed and it says connections speed (download) 38.mps and connection speed upload 5.4 mbps is this good? and with these adapters will it improve it? if any one could help me that one be great
Hey Alex nice video. 1 question though: how far did you connect the 2nd power line? Have you tried to check if distance affects quality of signal? Also I've read that using same electric plug as router will drastically reduce badn- have you experimented this ?
If I have a spare router can I then have wifi connection at the other end (another access point)? And how do i do this is it simple where I can just plug in?
Beware of TP-Link products. If the product fails within the warranty period you will be required to pay for shipping the defective item to them before they will send a replacement.
