A lot of people are asking about the fan noise... I am using about a dozen POE devices and consuming 45.7W out of the 250W limit. I ran the "AndroSensor" app and held my phone a couple of inches away from the switch and measured the ambient room sound level at 41.00 dB, then on start up it went up to about 59 dB. Then the sound level stepped down a couple of time before finally resting at about 51 dB.
hahaha I just ordered one of these, and then thought "oh I can't have that noisy thing running in my rack a few feet from me - I was praying it would throttle down after it booted, and it did :)
Omada (pronounced like the word armada) is a Greek word which means team. I don't really know if it's named after the Greek word but it makes sense as it's used to manage multiple devices. :)
Thank you for showing the webinterface in detail. I was wondering whether it was possible to see the CRC errors that occurred - to check whether there might be a problem with the cabling. Your video was the only one I found that actually clicked on the the statistics page at 30:38. There is a stat called alignment errors which according to google is at least repeated, possibly a subset of CRC errors. Probably enough to diagnose a bad cable.
I just got one of these for free. Looking to use it for a small home setup. I'm sure there are better options, but you can't beat free. All it's missing is the ears, but I don't have a rack anyway. It'll be sitting on a shelf or stand.
How do I set up a connection between IP cameras (8 Nos.), PoE switch (16 Port), Mesh Wi-Fi Setup (4 Nos.) (as a home network extender), Router (for Internet uplink), and NVR (Network Video Recorder).
Is it possible to turn PoE for specific ports on or off? My old PoE+ switch has an option to do so, even something like failsafe - when the device does not respond to ping for specified amount of times, it will turn the power off and back on to reboot the device. I'd like to know if the TP-Link has similar feature.
Can you use this as an omada controller too? Instead of having to host the software yourself or using their dedicated controller, I’m kinda confused since it mentions omada SDN is integrated
Hi there. I know someone’s already asked the question about the fan noise. But just to be clear after initial turn on and the fans are on what appear to be full steam, do they actually quiet down some or do they stay like this all the time? I’ve just hooked this switch up and after a good 10 mins maybe more they’re still going fast and loud? Any idea if they can be adjusted in the controller software?

Your connected configuring equipment eg PC, laptop needs to be set to a Static IP that it is on the same Subnet (192.268.0. …) as the Switch default IP ,in order to be able to access the GUI
I just installed omada switch 2428...it's my first switch of this kind and i find the noise extremaly annoying. I can't compare with other as it's my first, but i even thought mine is broken as u can't be calm on the same room than the router.
