TPD: Ohio State predictions, expectations for second half of the Buckeyes 2024 football season 

The JTT treatment needs to be up. The guy has been here for 4 years and was a no show in all 3 Michigan games, the Georgia game, Oregon game, Missouri game. Give Caden Curry his PT. He’s flashed more than JTT ever has.

Will Howard is absolutely more important to this team than Caleb Downs, lmao. Austin says the "defense would disintegrate" with Caleb not on the field, but they did a good enough job disintegrating WITH Caleb playing. Take Will Howard off the field last week and Ohio State loses by 3 TDs. I love Austin but I don't agree with that take at all.

I noticed the rotating of fresh defensive players was not enough to keep the starters fresh just like last season.

Oregon had all kinds of problems on their own line at beginning of the year. With multiple players. We should be able to freaking figure the Simmons thing out in 2 weeks with 1 of the weeks off. And yes if players aren't doing their jobs jerk their asses out of the game, I guarantee the younger players will play with more fire and passion

Jim Knowles schemes reek. Those two man rush and three standing around looking at each other puzzled was mind numbing. Until the defensive side coaches get it together, we're in deep doo doo. Our O-line still has major issues, with or without Simmons.

Landis is spot on. The 4 year returning defenders like JT, Jack, Cody, Lathan, Denzel, have all drastically underperformed thus far. At least they did in their first test of the year. Still time to right the ship, but their careers will be defined by the next 7-10 games. If their careers ended right now, you would have to acknowledge that every one of those guys did virtually nothing in 4 years.

Subpar play at the line of scrimmage has been an issue for at least 3 years, exhibiting the same leverage surrendering techniques that gets exposed whenever near peer opponents line up against us.

Bottomline fact is they do not have a DE speed rusher. There are 2 potentials. CJ and Sonny, but LJ and Knowles are incapable of making these kind of improvements and changes.

Whatever it takes in adjusting scheme or player personnel, the defense needs to play with their hair on fire. There really isn’t anymore cake walks. Those who came back for whatever the reason better start manning up.

When I watch our line play on both sides of the ball, I think it is a mistake to think that there are not one or two more losses coming our way in the second half of the season. We are getting physically and schematically handled at the line of scrimmage, again, on both sides of the ball. I hope I am wrong and the Buckeyes turn it around.

I'll admit I probably only have an intermediate-level knowledge of the game of football, but some of the people who make comments in these threads sound as if they don't watch football at all. A former retired basketball coach used to constantly tell me, “If you are always watching the player who has the ball, you are missing 75% of the game.” The same can be applied to football. Go BUCKS!🅾🌰🏈

I understand Birm's palpable frustration after the Autzen loss, but with respect to ORE, he sounds utterly defeated. (I hope OSU doesn't feel that way.) I appreciate the new, instant rivalry the Buckeyes have with the Ducks, but ORE is beatable. Why is Birm saying the Buckeyes want no part of the Ducks moving forward? That's defeatist talk; that's a loser's mentality. OSU would've won that game guaranteed with killer, more clinical coaching after it had reached the ORE 28. WAYS THE BUCKEYES CAN IMPROVE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON AHEAD OF A POSSIBLE REMATCH WITH THE DUCKS: 1.) OSU's RBs need to protect the ball to avoid strip tackles. Realize in matchup games, elite teams don't fear OSU's "stars"; rather, they're dying to pick on them, to take their manhood. 2.) Howard's seeming inability to throw the ball deep may be affecting the CBs in that they don't get a lot of experience in practice reacting to the threat. The Buckeyes need to practice throwing the ball deep to give their CBs more experience handling those situations. 3.) OSU needs to practice tackling. That builds toughness, shuts down the run game, and minimizes YAC. 4.) HOW CAN THE BUCKEYES IMPROVE IN SITUATIONS IN WHICH THEY NEED A FEW YARDS? a.) Use misdirection and sweeps in order to better move the ball on the ground. b.) Use big-boy-only packages, and put the ball in the hands of its biggest, most trusted back. c.) Use slot receivers and TEs in creative, reliable packages. A team of OSU's stature should have numerous such plays in its bag of tricks.

I see no reason for K. Jackson to play, looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane…I would move J. Sawyer to 3-Tech DT, keep Williams & Hamilton fresh rotating at other DT, and put Curry/Houston rotation at DE - ENERGY MOTOR PLAYERS‼️

As I comment, Oregon has beaten Purdue 35 - 0. So, Purdue, with NO offense, and suspect defense, only allowed about as many points as Ohio state`s vaunted Defense. interesting.

With Penn State the defense just needs to put constant pressure on QB. Stuff the run like they did with Iowa. And MAKE SURE they cover tightly that #44 TE/RB. He is the only real go too threat.
