At least, those contestants had sense to bid $1 if they thought that the other contestant was over. They do not seem to do that with Drew Carey and there seems to be constant Double Overbid showcases.
It's not always stupid cause LOTS of people have bid $1 on their showcases (due to their opponents overbidding, some of them bid OUTRAGEOUSLY high) and WON.
There was one instance where someone bid $1 on a showcase and it backfired on them because the other contestant ended up being a double showcase winner and was only off by $9.
I remember people was upset at this one contestant who bid $1 on his showcase cause his opponent had went over and she did and he won a lot of people were upset.
I wouldn’t say that being a stupid bid it’s called strategy. To me, I thought the spa being expensive in 1985 however the runner up had the right idea but went over by a few hundred dollars.
Season XIV Air Date Wednesday December 4th, 1985. Gene Wood announcer on daytime Price is Right Debra won her showcase almost $36,000 in cash and prizes including $10,000 ten thousand dollars in the grand game.
