Thank you for having such a relaxing approach to teaching. It’s scary enough without a lot of jargon.

Thank you! My little girl is having PTLO surgery tomorrow and I guess I'm so stressed and worried about it that the youtube algorithm picked it up and recommended this video, I loved it and will watch the whole series to try and relieve some of the stress I'm having right now

My lab is having TPLO right now as we speak. Waiting to pick her up in three hours or so. I am so nervous with her return but feel somewhat more secure in watching this video and the following weekly videos. Thanks so much. Wish us luck!!

You will be shocked at how well she will do right out of surgery! I hope you have seen my other video's on using ice and heat, not doing the bicycle thing they will most probably recommend and other tips and tricks. You got this and will be so happy you did it...

How is your pup doing? How was the first week?

Thanks for asking. Carly Rose is doing very, very well! She had quite a bit of bruising, which looked awful, but it gradually went away. The Lick Sleeve is a life saviour. Wearing the sleeve allowed her not to have to wear the E collar. Highly recommend purchasing one or maybe two for laundering purposes. I am following all of Dr Tania’s videos which offers great advice. Thanks so much. All in all, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Her stitches get removed on May 15th.

You are absolutely correct, Dr. Tania, I was shocked. And I am heeding all of your advice. You are a God send! Thank you ever so much. And I am sure I will have more questions for you!!😮

@@MrsPatbar keep the questions coming. I love helping people. I am hoping one day soon to make an online course with way more info to help those who can't afford rehab, or just can't find anywhere to do it. Most of my clients i see are always so shocked at how well their dog does right out of surgery...like night and day. Hardest part is keeping your dog relatively sane during the recovery period as they feel so good (especially at week 5 onwards) they just want to get one with it..😉

BIG thank you from Switzerland for your relax, soft and kind explanation and approach. Tomorrow am at the end of Week 1 and I am happy to say that I have been doing everything OK. The last point about going out, bathroom only you are on the spot that this means different things for everybody. I did not know how to "behave" but realized that the main point was the 5 minutes out and not the amount of times he goes out. Also, I was on spot here with the time out and he even laid outside on the grass for a short while before coming inside again. Thank you for your videos. Makes the recovery process less worrying for us.

Just started week 1 (Now on day 3). We decided to leave our 8 year old Baxter in our vet's care for the first 3 days (2 nights) to get a head-start on the first week, so to speak. I'm finding it easier if I blend Baxter's everyday behavior with the requirements of this initial period. He goes almost into a panic attack when confined to his kennel so we modified our tv room where he can lay on his big pillow and there's nothing to jump on. We barricade the couches when we are not there with him. He loves laying near me while I work so that's a nice change of 'scenery' for him and plenty of good rest. Taking him out on bathroom trips at the regular times has resulted in no interruptions or constipation. I'm glad I found your video series on this. Our vet is amazing but there's a difference between getting bombarded with info or sitting back with a coffee watching you! THANKS!!!

So glad it is helpful. After doing rehab for 20+ years I know how hard it is for owners to know what to do. You got this. Please also watch my short video on “don’t do bicycling”. They will tell you to do that when you bring him home.

@@caninewellnessonline Fortunately, my vet and tech did not mention this. We're now on day 4 and Baxter is starting to put full weight on his leg! I've done your 'tickle/belly rub routine and that is great! All is going very well (fingers crossed). He's now used to having to be on the leash everywhere... The only thing he absolutely does not tolerate is the ice pack. The surgeon said, however, that this is not crucial. Swellings do not seem too bad to my untrained eye.

@@hankguichelaar i agree with your surgeon. Over the years i have learned, dogs know what they need. So if they don't like ice or heat don't do it..cheers t

My dog had tplo surgery yesterday and still has yet to go potty. Any advice on helping to get her to go?? Thank you ❤
@caninewellnessonline
@caninewellnessonline Месяц назад
sorry i missed this, i am sure by now she has gone potty. The first couple of days it is common for dogs to not want to go potty. The reasons perhaps are because of the anesthetic and other drugs which affect the entire body. Also in one of my other video's i discuss them not wanting to poop because they have to bend the knee and it hurts when then do that. I advise using a sling to help them. Hope your fur baby is much better now...keep me posted

...how does pooping go? Are you supposed to try to hold them up? I dont know if my guy will go if so. He doesnt even usually go on a leash unless he really has to.
@caninewellnessonline
@caninewellnessonline 4 месяца назад
you may want to use a sling, if he will let you. he may just walk and poop if he won't let you use a sling.

R they allowed to stand up?
@caninewellnessonline
@caninewellnessonline 5 месяцев назад
yes absolutely. But in the house they should be on a leash when not crated/confined, so they can't jump on anything.
