Small mistakes in the video: When you're IMPORTING .fbx files from RTB to blender, the scale MUST be 100. When you're EXPORTING the .fbx file from blender, the scale must be 0.01! You NEED to rename all visible road meshes to something other than ROAD. Assetto always treats ROAD meshes as drivable track, no matter if it's in surfaces.ini or not. So you HAVE to rename them all to something else. Also, displacement strenght=0.03 is still too much according to drivers with DD wheels. Feels "minecrafty" to quote one guy. I'd advise you to use about strenght=0.018 or less. I'm currently using 0.012 and 0.018.
I’ve scoured through mounds of incomplete, misdirected guides on AC track building. The details on how AC reads and understands obj files makes this video better than the rest! Thank you for these videos!
Great tutorial bassgaming, always good to see how other folks manage their workflow between the various bits of software. You’ve inspired me to resume one of my old track projects this evening! 👍🏼🍻
Really nice tutorial, very concise. I would like to see more of these types of videos, showing people how to create tracks/rally stages using a combo of RTB, and Blender.
Mind doing a branch tutorial from this one explaining how to add in terrain and possibly how to smoothly elevate the roads? This tutorial was very helpful but I'm not even sure how I'd make a terrain mesh smoothly connect with the road.
I do the terrain and roads in RTB so I can't help you there mate. There are more than enough tutorials on how to build a track in 3dsMax or blender though so you'll figure it out.
i was thinking , rather than using a bumpy track, would it not be more efficient to randomly affect in the suspension in code is Unity? Re the track, seems very high res, what is the total tri count for the scene?
I have a question => How to add a hot lap system to the track?(the track don't have it(I mean the timing gates I got a track but it can not count how much laps I had run and can't get the data of my lap time Hope u can help me! Please~~
Hi there, do you know any Blender method to create the fastlane (or ai splines) for a track, better than drive the track and save the file with AI app? I heard about some kind of process but I can't find any info. Thank you for the tutorial, really valuable information here.
You can create the spline in blender but I have never done it this way. So no, I make my sidelines and fastlane inside of the game by driving through the ai helper app on racedepartment. In other words, can't help ya mate. You can join the linked discord (description) and ask there.
@@IBassGaming no problem. Thanks anyway. My track is more than 250 km so it is complicated to manage. I tried several times using that method and I'm still fighting with it.
Everything worked for me, except that the asphalt now has such strong sun reflections that I can barely see the track. The tarmac basically went from dark grey to very light grey now. Any idea how I can chane this?
You can change how mmaterials interact with the light through kseditor. I think the relevant ones here are ksAmbient and ksSpecular or whatever it was called. I'm writing from memory ^^
@@IBassGaming I tried that and while its sometimes good for clear weather, the track is too dark for overcast, or when its good for overcast its way too bright for clear weather
hey man i made a track in RTB and i cant open it in blender or the assetto track app i get " external component has thrown an exception " havent found any fix an help would be great .. blender seems like a handful but i might have to learn it because rtb is nothing but issues for me
I dunno mate. I just load the .fbx file into blender and it works. Did you watch my other tutorial on how to use blender and RTB together? Link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MqC4Ga8bbiQ.html
@@IBassGaming just watched this now tried separating the files like u said I got the terrain but then it crashed when loading the roads lol but I think it'll work out
I discovered I need more ram if I want to use blender ahah , I'm also seeing some glitches / sharp edges in the terrain but I'm not sure if its because its struggling to run or not
