Thanks for the review and your honest assessment of your boat. I like the way you mounted the Bimini top it's very clever.

Hey friend! I’m your Atlanta buddy, in fact I won your first raffle for crappie gear! We are both owners of Trackers, mine is a175 with a 115 Mercury! Like yours mine been bulletproof and for the money it can’t be beat! I have the Garmin live scope on the front and a 10” GARMIN in the cockpit, dual talons in the rear and the auto deployable trolling motor on the front. Because of my disability I fish sitting down and the only pain I have is when the canopy is up, its very difficult to cast around! Other than that I’m extremely happy with my Tracker! Wish we lived closer to wet a line together but sure enjoy your videos! God bless and happy fishing! Paul

Thanks for the update. I have a the Proguide V175 and agree with every one of your assessments. Would have loved to seen a how to video on the bunk boards you done.

I buy treated 2x4 and leave it out a couple of days to dry, because it always comes wet. After it dries i put 3 layers of polyurethane. It covers the whole wood with plastic. After that I put one strip of carpet on top of the bunk, for extra thickness and softness. After that I wrap the whole bunk with carpet, but on top it is now double. I like the feel of double carpet when the boat hits the trailer in the water. It is much softer and pleasant

Victor I welded my trailer winch handle after a year it got loose painted it and never looked back .....7 years later still solid and perfect I would recommend it
@ifishcatfish

that would work, but it will probably cost me as much as new winch, no? New winch is 40 bucks

Very nice video, I saw the 3-year review also. The 2 things I notice is that your installed wood does not have the corners or sides rounded, and the caulk on the rod holders was not what I would expect from your installation. On my 1980 Sylvan 18 the downrigger board I made was teak and much thinner-always rounded corners and sides, for safety and appearance .That was 40 years ago when teak was affordable. However, your attention to detail continues to amaze me. Thanks again for another great video

yeah, my boat work is pretty ugly, but this is the best I can do. I am really not handy, and nobody in my family has been and I just have no experience. It's not that I like this this way, but I am not gona pay money just to make it nicer : ). I think my art work fits my boat though... its not like I do this to a 60K Ranger or something : )

@@ifishcatfish Your boat is very nice looking and your work and planning is outstanding. The boat I had before my 18' was an MFG 14' with a 28HP McCullough. The 28 HP was the size of a 90HP today. That outfit was circa 1957 and I bought it in the early 1970's and with trailer paid $500. I got 5-6 years with that boat until the fiberglass cracked. We used to cram 4 of us in it for bait fishing for Perch and Smallmouth. Boy Those were the days!

Really enjoyed the review of an older boat. I'm in the market for a used boat. I'm certain the shape of the boat is related to the care the owner puts into it but it's nice to hear that a budget boat from a few years ago is worth considering as a used purchase today. I live on a river where I'll probably do most of my boating. Could you recommend a similar model that might be better in shallower water?
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 3 года назад
i dont have much knowledge in boats, but i will confirm - this boat does need a minimum of 2 feet of water, or you risk going home without transducer.

yup. put another 10K in electronics and accessories, but that's because I am happy with it and plan on keeping it. If I was planning on getting a new boat I wouldn't spend all this money on electronics

Those boat winch cranks handles always seem to get loose like that. I replaced mine 3 times and eventually they all get sloppy like that. I don't get it. Crappy design. Do those lithium batteries require special charger for them? I enjoyed your review. It has served you well.
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 3 года назад
yeah, and those are all brand specific. They need to know who u bought the lithium batteries from before they make one for you. I dont like that.
@jp040759
@jp040759 3 года назад
@@ifishcatfish I figured as much. Each battery manufacturer has different protection circuitry built in and that has to be known to match charger to battery electronics. Lithium batteries are great tech but need to be treated with respect so they are safely used. I am sure you have heard about Tesla cars burning up due to battery mishaps.

So far you are the first boat guy to call a boat engine a engine instead of a motor. Congrats. To the rest, motors are electric, engines are not. Your engine has a starter motor !
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 11 месяцев назад
Ha! I'm afraid i didn't know that.. Or maybe i subconsciously connected them. I change the engine oil of my car and the engine oil of my boat and to me they are exactly the same thing, one is just in a marine application.

It must handle the big water well, plus go into shallow water, is that correct ? I'm wanting a boat I can go into the bay with and on shallow flats.
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 3 года назад
decent in big water, as long as you have 1 or 2 people in the boat. With more i would not go out in dangerous conditions. I would say the boat is OK in big water, nothing spectacular. As for shallow water - you can go in 1.5 foot of water, but the transducer might be touching. Safe is 2 feet. Of course it depends again how many people and gas you have. It is now a shallow water boat for sure, but i do fish in 3-4 feet of water for carp all the time. I am not interested in fishing in 2 feet of water anyway
@garlandalmarode6396

just saw it. Was on the water. I looked at winches a lot.... Mine has a double hook setup. Every other winch I saw has a single hook. Of one hook fails, the second hook will still hold the boat on the trailer. That's the only reason I've kept it so long... I hope to find replacement that has two hooks on the strap, like the original...
