Thank you, Jeff and Dad! A lot of work went into that video just so that we could sit back and experience a hunt with you up in the DAX. This is about as real as it gets up there, especially after a fresh snow. Like Larry Benoit used to say, "The hard part is finding a big buck...the easy part is getting him out."

I really like watching all of your videos, even if they don’t have a kill. Every hunt in those mountains is successful in my opinion. Thanks for keeping it real. Makes my New York State tag soup taste kind of alright

I've cut my own track at least a few times in these weather conditions. Very easy to do but also a surprise every time it happens. Great video Jeff.

Always a surprise. My tendency that day was to walk right, learned long ago to trust the compass and not my sense of direction.

@@jeff_doyle Yes, the compass is the authority and I never hunt without one.

First time I cut my own track I was mad that someone else actually went in as far as I did. Took me awhile to figure it all out that it was my own stupid track. I was like 16. Didn't think it was possible to walk in a circle.

@@paulcoenen7918 Similar situation for me. About the same age too. Cut my track and was bummed that someone else was hunting my spot. Then I saw the same rub on a tree and realized I was on my own track. It was well after dark when I got to the truck that day.

I like the compass on the gun, nice tip. I think your dad may get an IMDB credit for his supporting hunter role. Great video

Hey Jeff only time I got turned around in the woods was same conditions as this. And I had hunted there a few times. Nothing was familiar. Gotta have 2 navigation tools. Compass, GPS and woodsmanship. Thanks for the vid.

No kidding about getting turned around in those weather conditions. Even on a clear day, in deep forest like those it probably be really easy to get turned around to the same spot.

I snuck right up on my truck one day in the first 25 minutes of walking in. I hadn't even check my compass yet because there was no way I already off course 🙃 😅 🙂 I honestly thougt for a moment that someone moved my truck. How I used to love the big woods of upper Michigan. Now nothing but wolf's everywhere.

Your awesome watch has a compass mode doesn't it? Do you have the 5 or 6? Both are the best do anything watches on the market by far...you have a awesome wife!! I have the 5 n it's way smarter than me lol . But honestly nothing beats a GOOD old compass! I really like that idea N for those who use the hunting apps out there, careful. I've gotten so turned around by trying to follow huntstand app , cuz there's a lag of ur position n by the time u realize it ur 50 yards of course in any give direction
