Very entertaining and educational! The irony is that I live in Florida and I'm watching this channel and getting a better understanding than I have from the local news. THANK YOU!
It also means you're smart enough to seek out the best info regardless of where it comes from. Props. 👍🏻 ...we should all do that. I only discovered KHOU yesterday afternoon.
David Paul as a native Floridian I must say you did a wonderful job explaining the ongoing of Hurricane Ian I thank you sir I hope KHOU 11 can see what a valuable asset you truly are Good day sir
This gentleman has a great communication style. Insightful and clear, grateful for how well he conveys this information. Thank you for such a thorough report.
We do all this warning to lower the chance of death from hurricanes, yet we have a President that is letting all this Fentynal into our country which is killing people off as much as Anthrax does. They call them Overdoses, but they are really poisinings and we're up to 90,000 deaths this year. The good news is that Biden has let in 5 million welfare-seeking people that can't speak English from 140 countries to replace the young Americans that are dying from a single candy-like pill. I am dependent on legally prescribed hydrocodone and my fear is that I will break the rules one of these days and be cut off cold turkey. When that happens, I might just buy something on the street for pain relief. It already killed one of my best friends.
I have to comment to this. I wholesomely agree he is very informative and has great presentation and teaching skills. I discovered him last night following the hurricane and has to be a top favorite news anchor now. It makes me happy seeing so many other people think the same as I do. We need more of this in the world I feel
Sir you just gave the best explanation of what is probably going to occur that I have heard. the graphics showing the wind directions and the steering currents. Great job.
This is the best explanation I've seen in my entire life. I really appreciate the way the meteorologist is helping us to understand with precision and clarity. Thank you! Great job!
I grew up in Miami, so have seen my share of hurricane coverage; I must say, this is some of the best. It’s informative without being overly dramatic and alarming. Practical, actionable advice to inform my storm plans. Thank you. Well done.
Great job of explaining how the surges happen and how the water could be pulled out of Tampa Bay instead of pushed in. This year is my first year in Florida and it's helpful to have someone break it down and explain why something does what it does. This is my favorite forecast so far!
Excellent presentation! I've been binge watching Ian News for 2 days, & this is the first time I've heard about the shallow waters on the west coast of Florida as the reason why we are so prone to surge.
Pretty much the whole gulf coast has shallow waters. It'll be ok for most people there will be a 30-40 mile stretch where it makes landfall where old buildings will be damaged or destroyed. Lots of old power poles and trees will demolish the power lines. Since there havnt been a strong Storm in so long lots of old large tree limbs to clobber the lines. Shingles and a few roofs might fly off. In areas that get hit alot. The building codes require structures to be able to handle 150+mph winds now. I believe that's all of Floridas building code since the 1980s for structure integrity. It's the old buildings that arnt well built/maintained that may have some issues.
I agree, not only that, he isn’t just repeating the same thing over and over with no real information that helps. It’s the BEST REPORT OUT THE RIGHT NOW for the storm watchers who want scientific data over drama and hype.
I have two cousins that live in the Tampa Area. They both got out. One live near a stream (something like 5 doors away at the end of her street) that empties into the Bay, as is prone to backing up and flooding anytime there's a storm surge. The other lives on a street that borders the Intracostal Waterway...the people across the street from her house all have boat docks in their back yards, and can launch right into the Intracostal. They're with their brother (my other Florida cousin) up near Orlando. His house is a fairly new custom construction that's been built to resist a Cat. 4 storm, and has a stand-alone emergency generator. They are absolutely loaded, and the house is like an absolute fortress. Being from Pittsburgh, we don't have much experience with hurricanes. We did, however have on brush by (but not come on shore) the eastern coast of Florida one year while we were at Disney. Orlando did not catch the brunt of the storm, but we did get enough to know I'd rather not have to deal with a direct hit. Stay safe, stay strong, Florida.
My aunt lives outside of Pittsburgh (near Butler) but is down in Orlando for vacation right now. She waited too long to leave but she isn't worried. 🤷♀️🤦♀️
I think that whole Tampa area up and down the coast is under mandatory evacuation orders according to a map on the news this evening. Glad I live on the west coast with no hurricane threat, looks like a real pain to have to evacuate with 2.5 million others and not knowing if you’ll still have a house when you return. Good luck folks.
Another highly informational and educational report by David Paul! This reporting is classroom material worthy. Top marks again for presentation and thorough explanation! A+
Meteorology fan here, this was such an educational, easy to understand breakdown of the forecast and what is influencing Ian's track. Loved the geography explanation, as well as how the fronts are helping steer the storm. I think this also helps people better understand the forces at play here, that they're to taken seriously. Though I'm in CA, I'll be keeping my eye out for David's work. Everyone in FL, please listen to orders and stay safe!!! 🍀🙏🌎 Ps. Love the messages y'all write on the boards!
This guy has an excellent communication style. Thank you for the information. My mother lives in Florida and I am concerned for her safety. Appreciate the information.
This guy has a nice, no bullshit approach. Great communication style, appreciate his professionalism with such an important and critical report on Hurricane Ian.
Watching from Orlando, FL! Really impressed with David's presentation; the way he explains complicated things for a layman to understand, has given me an incredible amount of insight and clarity. Thank you for going so in-depth on a storm that is not impacting Texas, KHOU. Hold on to this meteorologist; I'd say he's one of the best in the country.
Excellent presentation based on superb technical analysis, sound lessons learned and expert judgment. Supported by superior graphics..., among the best I've seen. Reminds me of my USAF Meteorologist briefings used to plan mission loads ...,
Honestly the best meteorologist i have seen to date. The technical info here is much appreciated! Im convinced in florida these guys just play gulf and drink coffee 5 mins before. Its terrible….. thanks for the details! Your a good one!
Great presentation of the anatomy of this storm. I must add, the graphics shown was truly fascinating. This reminds me of a wind driven hydro buzzsaw, that will be slicing through the mid sections of Florida. Seeing this foreshadowed event is most sobering.
Just wanted to comment that I appreciate how clearly and not rushed this presentation was. I feel as though I understand so much more that I did, and just just about this storm. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I'm in Melbourne Beach Florida I basically been through everything I remember the one year the whole Beach was in the streets they had to use construction equipment to scoop up all the sand and put it back on the beach it busted out windows of cars and businesses along the beach..We spent two weeks in Savannah Georgia no power no gasoline 99% of everything was closed for 2 weeks.. I'm praying for my friends that live on the Gulf Coast hopefully they'll make the right decisions a cat "4" is no joke it will rip your roof right off the top of your house..And by being close to the water The Surge is the worst thing that could happen water just keeps coming..Stay safe Florida..🙏🇺🇸🙏
Wow! He the best Professor of Meteorology! Omg, he's the only one TV that has given an explicit, and super excellent lecture on how a hurricane 🌀 works . Kudos to you sir!
I live in Texas and can't quit watching this pro explain what might happen. The weather guys here in my city are pathetic. Great work, Mr. Paul. I know he's in Houston and we could use him in our town.
Now here is a real Meteorologist, a real scientist, making the complexity of the power of nature easy to understand and endlessly fascinating! Thank you for this report. Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this storm.
So glad you have such a calm demeanor about this storm unlike other newscasters and outlets who like to hype up the fear and thus make people even more anxious prone than is necessary. Love the presentation.
David Paul gives a master class in all components of a major hurricane as it makes landfall. Excellent explanation of the unusual composition of the Florida Gulf coast shoreline's vulnerability to massive storm surge.
Imagine back in the caveman days . They would be just going along their day hanging at the beach fishing thinking it just a normal rainy day . Then bam 🌀..🌴 I'm glad I live in these times . Thankyou for the update . Good luck everyone in South Florida . I'm here also and ready for it✌🙏😎🤘🇺🇸🇵🇱🇺🇦
this guy talks like a real man... calm , slowish and deliberate.....so many others talk like a chick at 75 MPH.... and an octave higher... thank you sir...
@@jimhanty8149 I know that pain. I've stopped but they haven't. Some shit will never change. I just wait there and let them say what they gotta say, it's so much better.
This was extremely informative how the gulf goes 10k feet deep vs Atlantic Ocean which is less but the shoreline is shallow on the west of Florida which makes it prone to storm surge. Where as on the east of Florida the shoreline drops a 1000 feet so the storm surge doesn't extend as far in. I feel earth scientifically smart now.
That city is lucky to have that meteorologist. That’s nice he mentions the power may likely be out for a while. My dad and I may to take a trip to repair(portable generator to sump pump excess water in house) any flooding damage to their house. Sucks to be happy that you’re on the top side of the hurricane so to avoid the storm surge plus potential river flooding in coastal area.
Well, it looks like the drought that has been affecting Florida is going to be over, for the most part. I pray that God will protect and shelter those people in the path of Hurricane Ian.
I pray to god that we won't reach 100,000 deaths due to accidental poisining of pills laced with Fentynal. No hurricane will do that, but that is now where our focus is since the Democratic Communists are out to destroy our country so that they can take total totalitarian control. My best friend just died last month from a pill that looked like the typical pain pill.
IWant to Thank all the meteorologists that are letting us know what's going on God Bless you and protect you from any harm continue the Great job you guys are doing I would like to know on my Uncle that lives in Broward County his name is Eriberto Sepulveda I hope he is safe God Bless u All
THANK YOU Chief Meteorologist David Paul for the info I need to make good decisions for my family's safety and preservation of our property. This report is a clear, concise and complete. 👍🏾🌀👍🏾
Um, you're still vulnerable to a storm surge, as well. Even though the storm is closing in of the peninsula, the actual path is still anybody's guess...these things can be so fickle.
All I know is miami is raining like hell , hoping our fellow northern floridians stay safe , sending 🙏 prayers for protection. Also I hope our keys bros survive this 🙏
