This video teaches you how to track the size of one object anywhere in your perspective plane. It also deals with choosing and applying a specific scale to your scene to make all the objects work together! It gives clear step by step instructions you can do for yourself :)

Nice. This helps a lot with my drawing. Any chance you’re going to do dividing into proportions? I could really use some help with that. Thanks so much.

Thanks, glad it helps :) I’ve touched on that topic a bit with the “x trick” dividing planes video. Can you tell me more specifically what you are looking for?

Hi! Thank you for your content! I’m learning a lot of new things. I’m a beginner. I have a question about when you said that you don’t have to change a figure’s size when you move it on an x or y axis bc it’s not moving in perspective. Is this referring specifically to objects that are independent from a scene in that perspective? What I mean is that if you drew a building, the lines would recede to the vanishing points differently depending on the placement. I hope that makes sense. In other words, I can’t draw a building and then move it on an x axis and still have it be accurate bc the different parts of the building interact with the vanishing points. Whereas a person can be independent from the scene and it’s whole figure’s size is based on the vanishing points as opposed to different parts of the person. But maybe the width and the height of the building would be the same if u moved it on an x or y axis, accordingly ????? Let me know if that makes sense! :D

Nothing is independent from the scene, that is important to understand from the start. Everything exists within the perspective setup. If an object moves up or down the x or y axis, it is not moving in “space”, meaning towards or away from the viewer. This is why it doesn’t change size. Only things that move on the z axis would change size. However, if something moves on x or y, it still needs to be redrawn because it has a different relationship to the vanishing points. This is true for a person or a building. That of course only applies to 1 and 2 point perspective. In three point perspective if something moves on the y axis it will also change size. Hope that helps.

3:19 Is there a good explanation for how to do this in three-point perspective? I got to this video by searching "transfer objects three point perspective", but this video only covers one and two-point perspective.
@DrawshStudio
@DrawshStudio Год назад
In three point perspective when you travel on the Y axis instead of being horizontal it must aim at the 3 rd vanishing point. But I don’t know of a video that demonstrates that.

@@DrawshStudio It seems like that's a gap on RU-vid right now. There are good videos about specific techniques for one- and two-point perspective, but videos about three-point perspective are more basic. Maybe there's an idea for a future video or two :)
@DrawshStudio
@DrawshStudio Год назад
Thanks for the insight, I had planned when I’m able to resume video making to explore 3 point, good to know there is a need for it.
@lukestevens9375
@lukestevens9375 Год назад
@@DrawshStudio Yeah, it would be nice to have something more detailed than "you need a third vanishing point, guys!" which is about as far as most videos go right now. You could do a traditional "staring up at a skyscraper" type of three-point perspective example and then show how to draw a person on the sidewalk and a person standing on a third-floor balcony in the correct size.
