If budget isn't a concern. This overhead launch monitor is better than the rest in terms of "ease of use". No need for club stickers is a huge benefit.

I do find a lot of people are attracted to the no club stickers for club data. I have only been testing the new data release for a week or so now, but it looks great so far. Stay tuned for more and thanks for watching!

I have the Protee VX which I'm disappointed with have tried it alongside TM4 and there are so many anomalies I've lost total confidence in the product. What would you suggest as a replacement GC3 or going the extra mile for the TMIO?

Currently not able to read impact location on shots hit with black Titleist AP2 irons. And oftentimes getting italicized ball speed and launch angle data.

First I’ve heard of that. I would report it to Trackman support. I wonder if it’s the club or unit maybe needed calibration etc.

You do not need any special ball. I talked to them, this was just part of the beta and will be regular when fully released.

Falcon looks solid. I posted a hawk vs falcon on my Instagram. I talked to them about when a unit would be available to cover it in the channel but they said super limited before the PGA show. I will be at the show though and will cover it there and hopefully have one right after. Feel free to let me know if you have questions you want me to cover. I think the main differences I see so far is the hitting area and it does require stickers for club data but it does show more data like AOA, closure rate, and lie angle. It will be interesting to see what other data points iO can add vs Falcon not using club stickers. Always exciting seeing more new products hitting the market.

After this update, what are your thoughts on the Trackman iO vs the Trugolf Apogee? I am looking to build later this year and these are my two top choices. Curious how they stack up head to head

Trackman is more money but I would say has an edge with more refined software and data right now. Apogee is still getting updates so more time will tell along with Apex software. Trackman io data is very good and the hitting area is extremely larger which is nice. Also has a very refined club impact video.

Does it feel like the ball flight action while playing courses in Trackman is now more satisfying with the IO? I play in a league where they use a T4 (designed to be outside watching the entire ball flight) like most trackman users still do and the ball gets to its apex height and then just bails off the charts left or right if you mishit it at all. I play on a Uneekor Eye XO w/ GSPro and the game play is ten times better than Trackman and T4. Does the IO clean up those action differences?

In my opinion, yes. Since the spin axis is measured you don’t get any possible late calculation that can affect any mid flight changes.

Would you buy this LM over trackman 4 for home sim with hopes that most or all club data will eventually come?

IMO, Yes for sure. TM4 is now for the person that prioritizes outdoor green grass use or an advanced club fitter. The iO is the optimal indoor unit for sure with the camera being able to measure the ball spin and other factors, it also gives a nice large hitting zone vs TM4. I think this camera is very powerful and they have plans to unblock more just like you are seeing here. Also to answer your club data question, I can't imagine anyone really needing more club data than this unless they are using it with an instructor or fitting etc. But, like you said who knows what they can unlock, you might see nearly all club data soon.

No. Not necessary for the best data. The new large camera measures the golf ball so no need for a radar type tracking ball.

OK, I have just bought a Trackman IO (didn’t think I would), seems as though if you don’t want club stickers or marked balls and you want all the bells and whistles the Trackman IO is the way to go (based on my research anyway).

When I interviewed Jakob head of indoor at Trackman in my first video he says that major graphics updates are coming this year but no certain date.

The latest data is accessible now, but have you observed that the delay between the stroke and the ball's flight is longer again, resembling the TM 4? This means a previously held advantage of the IO has diminished.

Mine is the same based on testing so far. What is your GPU and are you running 1080p? Even with my 3090 I currently have to run 1080p with my 3 screens etc. They are working on more efficiency but I think it’s going to take a 4070ti or above for 4k.

Home bundle does not have club data, ball data only and limited courses and no performance center, but lower subscription price. It does have the impact video.

@@GolfSimulatorVideosno attack angle or low point. Why would I buy this over the new Foresight falcon that has all the data of a GCQuad? TM software is still much better than TM. But GSpro is a great equalizer.

@@OnTheSnap1 Yeah AOA was one I forgot to list above, my bad. I find that people are attracted to the software, swing path / impact video, and club data with no stickers. Falcon is of course brand new so will be interesting to see how they compete. Keep in mind Trackman said this unit would have a lot of future development so it will also be interesting to see what else they bring to the table as far as data or features. I find the offboard camera processing unique and a smart approach for development reasons.

They said they plan on continuing development, especially since it does off board processing so they feel like they can unlock a lot more with the camera. But, nothing confirmed at this time.

@@OnTheSnap1 for some I’m sure for many others I’ve talked to it’s no big deal. There will always be specific use for every user for sure. Keep in mind AOA could come at some point but I’m not sure about low point, not many units actually offer that data point. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Would be cool if you could compare Trackman 4 and Trackman iO side by side for numbers. I'm very curious how they compare espacially for spin axis and spin rate on drives and approach shots.

I’ve done this test, it wasn’t pretty to be completely honest. The spin axis numbers were wildly off. TMIO would give -40 deg while TM4 would give -20. And quite often we might see a draw on TMIO and a fade on TM4. These discrepancies are more prevalent with longer clubs / faster ball speeds. Down to mid and short irons they are pretty closely aligned on all data.

@@docomo661this is not what I wanted to see!! Have you the data and pictures to have a look at? I have TM4 at my club and a simulator setup. I hate off center hits with TM4 and corresponding spin axis numbers. Very hard to fit average golfers because of this

@@docomo661 That means your TM4 does not have enough light and/or not getting club impact using OERT. Without good impact TM4 will not know how to calculate gear effect. That is why irons are close and driver is off. TM iO is right, TM4 can be but needs proper impact. It is vital. BUT, I will say using two powerful radars at once I do not think helps, and could be causing interference. We have done a TON of iO testing, professionals included in the GSV studio and iO is performing great. TM4 does too, but it is VITAL to have impact location for drivers and it takes a lot of light to get it every time.

@@GolfSimulatorVideos I’m fairly confident we don’t have a lighting issue. The studio is set up exactly per TM’s recommendations, with a 30W spotlight for impact location. The TM4 also did pick up all of the impact location of those shots. TM support did tell me they were just releasing a new firmware which would factor in impact location more for gear effect. They must have realized something was amiss!

"I have no stickers on that club." Yeah, and you don't have attack angle. I don't get it why they sell a 14k device that is not able to show one of the most important club data. I'd rather have the ability to stick two stickers to my club and have attack angle than not having the opportunity at all.

Well they didn’t have a lot of club data and just added a lot. They continue to work on development of the unit so it’s possible it’s coming but not sure. Trackman has always been a premium price so I’m not sure they are really trying to compete with lower costs units even if the data is not the same. Thanks for watching!
