Do we have a doozy for you folks! Watch as Wrecker Rick, Nikki, Hot Rod, Heavy T, De Niro and Cody take Black Betty out for this off-road recovery. Black Betty is our Ram 2500 Mega Cab on Rubitracks. It has a 6 speed and Cummins. Wrecker Rick loves rolling coal in Black Betty.
Wrecker Rick uses Baileys Towing Kinetic Rope and Shackles to survive this off-road recovery. Things get very Western and we damage every truck! Johnson’s Canyon is beautiful this time of year in Northern Arizona. Murphys Diesel crew gets to pass through an abandoned railroad tunnel. A piece of history. This recovery is leading us to do a Jeep off-road build to get to trickier places our larger trucks have difficulty reaching. Stay tuned and stay classy!

JEEEEZZZZ. Ram should use this video for an ad. What a beating those trucks took! I used to have one just like the customer's. It was so much freakin fun! haha. It would make all that noise but in the end it was more bark than bite but what a tank it was.

Yikes! Sending Black Betty on tracks down a rocky obstacle trail and narrow rail bed that only fits a jeep, and then only just. A mad Max Wrecker with rock crawling tires would have done it in half the time, but you gave us loads of fun when it got Western a time or two, which of course is what we like 🙂

That’s why Rory has 3 different tow trucks, a scrambler and a rock buggy, each works well in some areas and not so much in others. But sometimes you use what you got! That 7 ton was like a whale pulling a minnow.

I believe Black Betty would have been better if there was a way to put hydraulic cylinders on the tracks to lock them in place, to be able to change the angle of them as needed or "float" them in flat conditions. It looked like not having any control of the tracks is what hinders them the most on the rocks.

I installed a Randy’s Stage 3 68RFE Transmission, billet triple disc torque converter and flex plate, in my 5th gen. Was gonna go Allison but the driveline shops around me take a week or two to do any drive shaft work. Don’t have that kinda of time. I pull a 10k pound enclosed service trailer every day with 38s on my truck.

Unless it’s snow loose the tracks I’d say, but with tires that would be 2x faster on the trail and far more fun to watch in my opinion but each their own. Can we maybe never see tracks again unless there’s snow lol

Hellboy is good the way he is, but Matt's Off Road has a jeep wrangler and a corvair station wagon he calls the Morrvair besides the big wrecker, the big wrecker makes it through many tight spots just because of the pneumatic tires, don't sweat it Hellboy is Cool, plus he don't need no snow cat to help him out. Matt has a Bombardier sno-cat , that he just upgraded and hasn't tried it out yet but winter's comin', your Hellboy already proved himself in the snow he can only do better with that 4 foot ground clearance, And about narrow trails you know why railroad grades are called that? Cause they're made just wide enough for trains the RR tracks are only 4 feet 8 and 1/2 inches wide they weren't made for CARS & TRUCKS. I'm glad you uploaded I was having HOTROD withdrawls, plus all you people are the best.

Great video from you. My questions, why don't you always have enough crowbars in 40 inch length with you? Why don't you have a heavy sledgehammer with you out in the field? Why are larger chunks not pushed away? Why are small boulders not broken up? Rick, it's your damage, not all repairs can be included in the price beforehand. Who pays? Who lacks the money for investments? My impression is that you don't have a vehicle for jobs like this. In my many years in plant construction, no matter where in the world, very often outside, laugh - really at the ass of the world. - We had UNIMOGS and STEIER Puch, both identical in construction. Big diesels, I mean about 6 liters. High chassis, Hiab or Palfinger crane, outriggers on the left and right. Winches at the front and rear. Sliding blade if required. Above all, good tires with lateral tread. Something like this would certainly be useful in such terrain. Greetings from Frankfurt.

that is one trail where Tracks are NOT what you want, Big Tires would have rolled over those boulders..... watch TrailMater do it all the time with big tires.
