Wow I have been a subscriber for most of those 3 years since before you and john went to live in the woods, it's nice to finally be able to comment so here it goes. Great job fixing the cub I enjoy watching your channel and learning a few things along the way.
Neil, used to drink gallons of Mountain Deere in Grade School with my best friend playing rummy or battleship on the back porch. Made the mistake one day of putting it into a clear glass, I was not going to drink anything that looked like, well, it was yellow. Drink Doctor Pepper now, but mainly coffee. Great vid, looked at a 2135 today with probably the same problem, no juice to the starter. Best news, it's free. All the best.
I'm glad your comments are back! Shoot, I didn't know they were disabled for 3 whole years, geez! I found this channel about a month ago. I was searching for videos about how to repair my own Craftsman T1400 lawn tractor. The deck belt was jumping the right idle pully for some reason. The fix was literally raising the idle pully with 2 washers, and funny enough I found that solution myself by just experimenting. Anywho, in my initial search I found this channel, started binge watching your videos, liked what I saw, and decided to subscribe!
That's the same model as my tractor! I bought it new 18 years ago and have about the same hours. Similar issue with the headlights except I used zip ties to keep them in place. I have always had seeping at the front seal but it doesn't dripped oil. There is something to be said about regular maintenance. The only problem is the PTO clutch will not re-engage when hot. It was such an expensive a part few years back, I just live with the problem and do not disengage blades when the engine is hot. Thanks for posting!!
Nice drink mine is MTN dew and any flavors I just got me a John Deere LX133 just need some work here and there took the deck off to use for around the yard and pull a trailer First mower I got what moved with no engine mounts lol got that fixed runs like a charm
I cannot believe how bad some folks can tear up a good machine in so little hours. 230 hours is nothing, any decent machine should last 1,500 hours or better with even the most basic care. I had one of those years ago and ran it for about 3 hours every week about 7 months out of the year plus some in the winter with a snow plow. I sold it with 1,970 hours on it still working as it should. I replaced the fuel pump twice, four spark plugs, two sets of tires, and 14 blades. I upgraded the deck from a 38" to a 42" but both decks were fine when I sold it. It got its oil changed twice a year, once in late spring and once when I was done mowing for the year. The deck came off, the plow went on and it sat read in case it snowed. The paint was pretty bad on mine, it flaked off all over the place, but apparently they all did that and it was a major problem. I did repaint the two side covers and the deck at around 300 hours or so but I was pretty particular about keeping it looking like new. If they still made a machine like that today vs. the belt drive junk they sell now I'd likely still own a CC but I refuse to buy a belt drive disposable machine.
Just picked up one of these exact models. Housing is beat to hell and it hadn’t ran for 5+ years got it up and running with the help of a battery booster. Now I just gotta get some tires and a new pto clutch and we are good to mow. Checked out reverse cutoff switch and pto switch which are all good. Power but no engage. Thing started up like it was brand new though
5 out of the last cubbie cadets I've acquired to fix & sell, I've noticed people love to mess with the wiring, you're right, its boring and a complete headache. Difficult to trace wires when the orange one goes to a spliced blue one that goes to another spliced red one then to another wire
I have a 2135 that I have had since new. It has 980 hrs showing on the meter and runs and mows as good as new. The biggest weakness I have found is the fuel pump; have replaced two over the years.
While I have only one tractor,I enjoy watching and lea. I 97mtm yard machine garden tractor. The parking brake leverhas been removed. Could you sonetime in the future show that being replaced ? Be nice to be able to use it. Please keep up to great vids
Do you work on snowmobiles Atv’s or things like that, because it seems like their would be a lot of them in your state. And Thank you for sharing your video’s. Be good stay safe
POLAR BLACK CHERRY SELTZER for me! I don't drink much soda anymore but I like 7-up, Ginger Ale, and a very occasional Mountain Dew. John is fine with Moxie, so long as he doesn't live on it and brushes his teeth twice a day(the ones he still has that is! - he's at that age where they are falling out left and right) I also really like Cheerwine, but not sure if you can get that in Maine.
Thank you kindly for this video. Have hills to climb and love the 2135’s direct drive. Mine clicked couple starts ago. Ok since. Google results point toward solenoid. Others small and seem simple to replace. This one large and attached to starter? Any advice on replacing it? Oh yea…Cheerwine!
Glad to see comments enabled. Do you have any experience with the Kohler courage single cylinder bucket motors? I've got a Husqvarna that seems to be leaking oil everywhere. Can't see any cracks unless they are underneath.
@@redneckcomputergeek Thank you for the reply. You confirmed what I've been thinking. So if I put it up on a lift and looked while it's running, I should see it leaking. Is that a job best accomplished from underneath or with the engine off of the unit. My first thought is to do it from underneath to save time and energy. Lol. I've noticed that you have learned a lot of shortcuts. I've really enjoyed your RU-vid channel. Best if John does not develop a taste for sweet drinks. I drink unsweetened iced tea with lemon.
Hmm, by the looks on John's face, maybe a bit less caffeine HAHA!!! Used to drink Mountain Dew all the time, practically lived on it during my deployment in Iraq. I hardly drink anything other than juice, water and milk now.
Just noticed the comments, so used to not seeing them, my POP of choice is Grape Crush or Root Beer. In moderation POP is OK for John, lol Are you sure the oil sensor interrupts the cranking, I’ve never seen that before on this type of machine.
I have a 2155 cub with the same body style, those headlight lenses fall off from vibration. I noticed that your cub takes a long time to shut off, like it keeps going until it runs out of fuel, from the solenoid in the carb. Is there a way to get it to shut down normally? My cub does the same thing and I would like to fix it. Love your videos, keep 'em coming!
It seems to only be a thing with these top load type engines. I think it actually diesels the last few rotations and there is not much to do about that cause it is burning off the pressure in the line at that point.
@@redneckcomputergeek rats, I was hoping it would be something simple, like the kill wire on the coil,or something. My forward and reverse pedals don't feel like they are going full speed. Is it hard to adjust them? Are you far from Bangor, Me. ? I live in Carmel, Me which is just a few minutes from Bangor.
It’s funny about the front of the hood being messed up on all of those it’s like the John Deere lt160’s it seems like every time I see one of them the hoods are screwed
I also just picked up a 2135. They deck was not on it. It would appear I'm missing some parts. Could you share/send a few pictures of the front of the deck please? Having trouble figuring out & finding info of where the engine belts go & where the blade belt attaches.
There's a mint Cub Cadet 125 near me, Hydrostatic,42" belly mower and a 3 point hitch, 12 hp. IH Louisville build..1967-69 era. 500 on Facebook Marketplace

#1 are you going to fix the oil leak on the tractor motor that you showed or was it a just a bolt needing to be replaced #2 how are you doing with your van conversion are you still doing it or have you changed your mind
