Tractor Hunting: GT3000 Engine Fire $100 

Great video, exciting save on a nice mower! I just bought a Craftman LT1000 and I'm getting addicted to watching you trouble shoot.

Just bought the same mower it’s i great shape! Now I have to adapt my bagger from my old mower to it !

previous owner seems to be the king of neglect. my 1986 lt 16/44 still works fine.had to replace transaxle in 04. but still has original deck spindles for blades.they dont make them like they used too.opposed twin still runs great with well over 600 hours.only had to adjust valves once.maintenence is the key to longevity.

How did you know this particular GT3000 had a Roper 633 transaxle ? I'm looking at a GT3000 right now (917.275013) of similar vintage to yours and the manual for it spells out a 6-speed transaxle part number "174741" and I also looked at another older HD Craftsman II (917.257711) similar to yours and the manual for it calls out a 6-speed transaxle part number "140332". I'm guessing these are AYP transmissions ? So how do you ever find a tractor which has a Roper 633 beforehand ?

633 clarification please ? You said you liked this GT3000 model because it was "the last of the actual Craftsman GT's" which I guess means the last AYP built tractor ? Anyway, you said this model had a 633 transaxel but it also has a vertical shaft engine. My confusion is that your Craftsman II tractor shown in your "1 Point Hitch and Implements" video also had a 633 (Roper) but that tractor had a horizontally shafted engine !! Are both 633's identical except different belting configurations on each tractor ? or are there two different models of the 633?

Seeing as though, the original owner apparently drove it on spindles with no hub/bearings, which had to be the roughest ride ever, his dumbass probably was just full spraying starter fluid, didn’t know what he was doing and it ignited in the muffler. And that shit will full on flame up just not back fire.
