Tractors at Work: MASSEY FERGUSON 1100 

We had a 135 Massey Diesel for a while handiest tractor we ever had. In the winter it was the only one that would start, the Perkins direct injection system really helped with winter starting for sure. Sadly it wasn’t my tractor but my uncles tractor and he used it to brush hog his property before he built his house and moved there so he kept the tractor on our farm cause he didn’t have a place yet. He allowed us to use it freely as long as we bought the fuel for when we needed it he wound up selling it and using that money to buy a kabota compact tractor with the mowing deck and we’ve missed it ever since.

Brings back memories of the good old days, I've never been to Wisconsin but your videos show it as the most beautiful place on earth. That old tractor sure works good. Thanks for the video

Always had a Massey on our family farm can say with pride the Masseys will start any time of year and were realtive lower cost and lower maintenance then the other tractors we ran

My dad had a MF 1085 when I was younger. Was a really good tractor. I learned to disk and field cultivate on that tractor. We also had a MF 410 combine too. Our cousins have 3 MF 1135's that they use all the time.

I grew up with Massey Ferguson tractors dad started out with a WD Allis and a 8N Ford then switched to Massey Ferguson 35 and 65 then he had the 135, 165, 175, and later the 255, 265 , 275, 285 . The last two tractors he bought was a Massey Ferguson 361 and a 471. Today My older brother owns his 471 and a sister owns his 255. Today I have a 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070 92hp and a IMT 539 it's the same as a Massey Ferguson 35. And a 5320 John Deere. There's nothing better then running a older Massey that is in good shape. Loved the video. The Massey 100 and 1000 series are some of the best tractors ever built.

I always liked the styling of the MF's. We had an 85 and it was a real workhorse.

Still have a 1100 on the farm for chores, it's got like 17000 hours on it and still runs good!!

We had an American built MF 1135 (1976)on the farm (Sweden)when I was a kid, it was awesome with it’s straight six cylinder Perkins engine ! We also had the four cylinder MF 1080 (1972)which was built in Europe….. those were the days!

Makes me miss the 1100 and 1135 that we used to have. Very reliable machines

I miss them old Ferguson tractors,I grew up on a 1963 and its still running as are many in my community.

My dad's biggest tractor was a Massey Ferguson 1105. He had an 1100 for a while also. I used to own a 2745.

We had a 1100. It was one of the first big tractors we had back then. Now the 8660 would make it look small.

We still have a 1105 with a cab we use it for silo blower work and round bale chopping for bedding at our heifer barn. Great tractor when I was a kid ,it was huge.Now nobody wants to take it for field work, no air conditioning, no air ride seat and no power shift.

Love the Massey's! Dad owned everything from a multi-power 65 all the way to an 8480. My brothers and I have kept going with them and just bought a new 8727S. Great video as always Jason

I've always liked the looks of the MF tractors with this body style and paint scheme. As a kid I wanted one of their garden tractors and almost bought one several years ago but the man wouldn't part with it for a reasonable price. We looked at a 35 and a 135 several years back as well. Kinda wish I had bought the 135 as it was in nice shape.

My Father had a T-20 Grey Ferguson tractor on this farm at a place called Lowcliffe which is towards the East coast from Hinds which is 8 miles west of Lowcliffe we has 200 acreas it was a mixed farm, milking some cows,for cream, and about 200sheep plus some cropps of oates, Linseed, and some wheat, with cocksford. I used drive that ferguson tractor quite a bit and it was just GREAT It was about 20litre engine so it had plenty of power ...................The new Massey ferguson tractor was not out then as this was about 1954 to 1959 plus.......I was only 12 yrs old in those days

We got a new spreader that had those colors back in 77 and I had to use a piece of plywood on the back because my stepfather didn't bother springing for a gate . What a pain in the .... Thatlooks like it could be Upstate NY. But I know it's not. After 5 years in the military and moving to Florida, I went back to Upstate after 21 years and most of the family dairy farms were shut down ... what a sad site.

The 135 Maassey Ferguson was a staple of farms here in East Tn during the 70s thru the late 90s. In its class there was no better tractor.

I was always a Massey Fan but I think Deere has the title now. You can see how having four wheel drive is a big advantage in modern day agriculture, the front wheels don't sink in so much, I surprised how far away from the dung clamp the driver parked the spreader, good video and happy New year to you and your family. We had a Massey Ferguson 285 w/cab. Dad bought new in the early 80’s. Hard to believe but thst was our biggest horse power tractor 80 or 85 hp. Did the tillage spring an fall, bailed hay, did chopper duties. Had it right until 2001 farm machinery auction an went to my uncles dairy farm.

Good looking 1100. The tractor that finally propelled Massey Ferguson into the big tractor space and eliminated it's dependency on Oliver/MM.

We had an 1100. First tractor i drove and for a long while it was our big tractor for field work. Super reliable. I think ours was serial # 11

I helped a man plant soybeans in the late 80s. He had a propane 1100 with a 21 foot 3point Tye drill. We called her the Delta Queen.

We had a 1135 cab tractor for a while. It was a good feed tractor in the winter which is what we used it for a lot but a good one in the hay field also

Although I’m a huge John Deere fan, you do get some great footage of all the tractors. Great video BTP! That spreader looks like it got a fresh coat of paint and a decal job.

We farm with a 1105 and 1135

grew up in the burbs with a riding mower, just starting into the farming thing and the tractor game is real... Our first real machine on the farm, is our MF175 with the perkins A4.236 diesel engine. Nothing like learning how it was done, short of doing it!!! Thanks for the massey videos, their arnt nearly as many of them as their should be!!!

This is probably my favorite body style of MF. I almost bought a 1080 at an auction one time but I didn’t need to start accumulating other brands- Tractor collecting is addictive lol

64 years old had 1100 1105 1150 and 2000 series Massey's .1100 most trouble free tractor out of the bunch I had. The downfalls were gear linkage wearing out and locking in park. Had good brakes but if tractor not running or stalled no brakes at all. Brakes part of hydraulic system.

We had a MF165 as the sole tractor on our small farm when I was growing up. It was a gem of a tractor.

We got a few of them big old beasts. We have an 1105, 2705, 2745, and 399. We also have a massey harris 44 and 30.

1085 MF pulled a Ford 4 16" plow fairly well. A tighter cab than international. Better heater. But the 1086 had two speakers stereo. Def leppard and guns and Rose's.

My dad had a Massey Ferguson 1100 that had a cab. It was a powerful little tractor. He pulled the neighbor's JD 7 bottom moldboard plow just to see if it would pull it.

I think it would be interesting to research the recommended minimum horsepower required to generally power different P.T.O. operated equipment. Manure spreaders, discbines, balers, choppers, Ect.

Worked on a farm years ago that a 1100 it was a good tractor. Handled good. The 806 IH we had would out pull it but I had no complaints on the tractor.

We have 1 1066 in but the other 6 are Massey Ferguson including a1100 and a 1130 great tractors in my opinion

First tractor I ever sat on was my uncles MF 180 in 1971 in Wisconsin, I was 5, it must of been a mid 1960s tractor.

learned in a 135 and the first articulated 4wd i ever saw (in the UK) was a MF 1200. my current loader is an Agco Allis 8775 which is pretty well a massey

That looks like a nice original 1100. I farm with an 1155.

All I run is Massey Ferguson tractors a 265, 2675 and a 2745

We have 4 165”s and 2 175”s we use to bale and move hay for our beef cows.

I rented a MF 1105 for two months in the spring for spring tillage. I did that for several years. My main tractor was a IH 1066, and I had a IH 706. I farmed 400 ti table acres. I pulled a 4 16s plow, and a 20 ft, brillian pulviamulther, and a 24 ft spring tooth harrow. After the 130 acres of corm was planted, and the 65 acres of field peas, & oats was planted, I called the MF dealer and he came and pick it up.I did that for 4 seasons, and then bought a 1586 with FWD. ThE MF dealer kept raising the rental price every year. so I finally bought the 1586. The MF 1105 was a good tractor, but I like the IH Tractors better.

There is a MF 1100 out on my grandma's farm. Good tractor, but we keep breaking the front rims. Though I think that is due to them being "upgraded" to a larger wider tire and the fact we have a front loader to lift round bails. Just seems to be too much weight for the rims and they keep splitting at the lugs and hub.

I have 67 Massey 1100 with original 1500 hours

My three year old daughter really likes watching the farming videos with me and I explain to her what they're doing and why. At the end of this on she says "They got poop everywhere Dada!"

All I can think is that I wouldn't want to be him in on an open station if the wind changed. Talking from experience

Up until his passing, my cousin on mom's side ran the full lineup. 165,175,185,2-1085s cabs, 1105, 1135cab, 1155cab. His pop my great uncle ran the 100s along with 1100, 1130. And we can't forget the 300 combine. Grandpa on pops side always keep up his 135. I'd trade every tractor in the world, to run those rigs again.

I grew up with masseys I wouldn't change the brand for nothing the 135 was a very handy tractor they said it was around 45hp but I think more like 48hp

I worked on a farm where they had 1100 Massey Ferguson and a 65 Ferguson I also had a 40-20 John Deere and that 1100 Massey Ferguson seem to have much more power but the brakes didn't work as good

I farm with a 1135 ,699,271 and a Massey 750 combine small farm in Ontario Can. And the 1135 starts the best in the winter

my grandpa farmed with Massey ferguson he had 2 1100s and a 2745

We firm with two 175s one has a loader and 1135 a 5480 and we also have a number 35 swather

How do you stop the oil leaks? I farmed with them 4 many yrs cotton farming and so glad i switched 2 John Deere.

We had a massey 180 on the farm

Started out learning on a MF35 and have had several others. I own a 593 4x4 cab tractor and a 451 4x4 to this day that I hay with. I don’t know if I will ever get rid of either of them!

The 1100 was very rare in the UK but there were more 1135's - plenty of power but had a reputation as poor pullers they really needed 4wd for our conditions.

Wonder what year the Bobcat is? We had a 1978 with a gas Ford engine in it back when i was younger. Spent alot of time riding in it with my dad feeding silage and everything else. Don't know how he did it.

I had a Massey 1100 gas sure wasn't a Oliver.

What size is the engine and I assuming that it is a diesel.

Is that the same physical size as a 1066?
