Your improvisation is absolutely beautiful. Those harmonies leave me all warm inside like a cup of tea on a cold winter's day. This is the first song I danced to (The Jonas Blue Version) with the girl of my dreams on a night out. Anyway, the girl and I split up and everything has turned very sour. I find it hard listening to the original version, but this is wonderful. It brings back a lot of very special memories for me. Thanks.
So true. The crazy thing about playing like this is that I feel like I'm simultaneously in a beautiful urban environment as well as a relaxing countryside.
I have been looking for the perfect song to walk down the aisle down to in the future and all of the others are too fast and no heart. I can finally see myself walking down the aisle to this song. This one! Thank you. 9 years ago who would’ve thought?
Just AMAZING, its like you cut the stings off the pegs and connected them directly to your soul and they ressinated your what you were feeling. Touching music, thanks for that, changed my day.
It feeds the soul, doesn't it. I too wish I had persevered. If listening to these piano pieces makes us feel good, imagine being able to play as beautifully as well.
It's never too late to pick it back up mate! Get yourself a cheap one or even a weighted keyboard, tons of amazing youtube resources nowadays. You can learn literally any tune via the internet! If you need any help or guidance drop me a message, happy to help! :)
Beautiful arrangement and playing. btw, I love the sound of this piano. It sounds so comforable and "genuine" (if that makes sense). Ravel really liked Mason and Hamlins as well.
i loved the way you slowly built the tension up but could not get on with you when that "expressive" part started at 3:25. I couldnt follow your point there. Anyway great improvisation i liked your approach to this great song.
Hello, I saw that you have a zoom recording this piano and a dual mic set up on some of your newer recordings, can you give a little advice on which you would recommend pros/cons? I like using to mics and slightly panning to create a wider stereo effect but i also love the focused sound of a zoom. Thanks
Hi Owen. In this video I'm using a Zoom H4n. I eventually replaced it with a Zoom H6 and used that stereo mic for a while. I've since moved on to DPA D:vote 4099 piano mics, which I really like. The pros of using the Zoom stereo mic is simplicity because you only need one piece of equipment. I like the DPA mics for upright because I can keep the recorder out of the way of my hands for videos. Also they have nice separation and warmth. There is nothing wrong with the stereo mic on either the H4n or the H6 in my opinion. You can also adjust the stereo spread in post if needed using plug-ins. Hope that helps!
@@heavypiano Awesome thank you. I am tempted to grab the DPA D:vote 4099. I also have a USB interface and can run 2 condenser mics, any recommendation for a good set of condensers?
@@owen261I think the AKG C414 mics are considered to be some of the best, but they are very pricey. When I was working on my degree in college I used a pair of Shure SM81 mics that I liked. Sweetwater has a few listed here: www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=s%3Apiano-mics
@@heavypiano please tell me if your transcription for this is available. I would love to play it on my own piano. Your arrangement is so artful and sensitive.... really touches my heart. Thanks for posting it, and for a link to get your transcription, if possible.
Hi Shannon, I don't have sheet music but I did create a tutorial based on this improvisation if you find it helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A7SVm4QgC5E.html
Hello. I'm shooting a wedding for a friend in the summer and would love to have this as a backing track for the video I'm making for them? Would I be able to get your permission for this? I'll credit you, of course.
I don't mind if you use my arrangement for non-commercial use. I don't have the rights to the song so you may want to check with the copyright holder (Tracy Chapman?) for proper distribution rights. RU-vid takes care of any monetization on their end with these arrangement videos.
You got a fast car I want a ticket to anywhere Maybe we make a deal Maybe together we can get somewhere Anyplace is better Starting from zero got nothing to lose Maybe we'll make something Me, myself I got nothing to prove You got a fast car I got a plan to get us out of here I been working at the convenience store Managed to save just a little bit of money Won't have to drive too far Just 'cross the border and into the city You and I can both get jobs And finally see what it means to be living You see my old man's got a problem He live with the bottle that's the way it is He says his body's too old for working His body's too young to look like his My mama went off and left him She wanted more from life than he could give I said somebody's got to take care of him So I quit school and that's what I did You got a fast car Is it fast enough so we can fly away We gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way So remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car We go cruising to entertain ourselves You still ain't got a job I work in a market as a checkout girl I know things will get better You'll find work and I'll get promoted We'll move out of the shelter Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs I remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car I got a job that pays all our bills You stay out drinking late at the bar See more of your friends than you do of your kids I'd always hoped for better Thought maybe together you and me would find it I got no plans I ain't going nowhere So take your fast car and keep on driving I remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car But is it fast enough so you can fly away You gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way Songwriters: Tracy L Chapman
