I'm 37 years old & grew up hearing this song never giving it a 2nd thought til now. I'm noticing that I'm the friend & they aren't mine. It's always what I can do for them. My little boy was in the ICU & not one person came to see him. Not one. No family. No friends. It really opened my eyes to a lot of things. One reminding me just how alone I am in this world. It's fuckin sad.

This happened to me this past year. I was having surgery done the Tuesday after Labor Day. My Mom was out of town, my Sister wasn’t able to take off of work, so I thought I was going to have to cancel the procedure! I called my Best Friend of almost 40 years and he said “I got you Bro!” Not only showed up but drove me to my surgery and back home. Stayed with me at home until the Anesthesia wore off. Called my Mom and Sister to give them updates and made sure I had everything I needed! True friends are more than friends, they’re family!

Had to work late, 12 hour shift and get off at 11pm. Couple buddys went fishing on the boat and broke down and was able to get back to shore, miles from the dock. Went to pick em up and had to roll up blaring this. They both were soo ashamed 😂😂😂 what are friends for. Still made it to work the next morning too!

I just recently resign from putting in over 10 years of being a first responder in our local community. You find out who your friends are when you get no appreciation of the time and commitment you put into this. Had a buddy call me once needing help. He lived in Idaho and I lived in Texas. I believe it was a 26 hour drive I don’t remember for sure but like the song says I dropped everything got a pay advance from my boss and hit the road. Never second guessed it. Was gone for a week and still had my job. I wish more people were willing to sacrifice everything to help those they care about

This song has been with me my entire adult life. I have shared this song so many time because it is the solid truth and I am all about the truth. I just had a major surgery and the ONLY person that stuck by me was my friend Denise. Not one of my children called, my so-called “Bestie” texted to see if I was ok, but did anyone offer to help Denise take care of me?, NO! Not one! I’m so blessed to have such a beautiful friend in my life. Thank you Tracy Lawrence for this song. It truly means so much to me.

I got injured and spent 11 days in the hospital. My wife stayed by my side the whole time. Not one person from the church I've gone too for 30 years came to see me or encourage me , . I thought of this song. A visiting evangelist did come and pray for me ! My pastor did text me. I'll be honest , it was hard to text back and pretend it helped. I'm not bitter or sour about it , but I definitely know where I stand in my church, or better yet where my church stands in the word of God I do know that Jesus was with me the whole time. You know who your friends are that you've never really realized. Marines, Navy sailors, Army soldiers, Coast guards, National Gaurds men and all first responders. They put their lives on the line to protect you and make sure you have a safe and free country to live in. Those are your friends, even if you don't personally know them. The people that take them for granted and protest against them while supporting and protesting for terrorists and enemies of our country are not your friends. They are using the freedoms they have because of our military, law enforcement and first responders to protest against Americans and our best interests. You find out who your friends are just like you find out who your enemies are. God Bless America

Such a great song. Everyone has had times where you really find out who your true friends are. I've left at 3 a.m. and drove from Michigan to Kentucky to get a friend that just had his heart broken. Didn't matter he was struggling, just needed to get him back to Michigan. Didn't hesitate or think twice because he'd have done the exact same thing. There's good people that sometimes need a shoulder to learn on and those are the times you find out who's got your back and who's not willing to go outta their way. That's what this song is about and that's when you know who you can call family.

We used to have an old car that wouldn't start without a jump. Hubby walked to work a few blocks away, so we only needed it when visiting family. Anyway Christmas Eve, pouring rain, we leave brother-in-law's early to get home before dark. A mile from his home the car died. Without reason, brother-in-law's buddy decided to leave minutes after us and followed the route that takes us home even though he lived in the opposite direction. At EVERY red light the car died. He was there to help until we pulled into our drive. Didn't even stop for a "thank you." That's a friend! Yes, I've posted this song on his fb wall and thanked him time and again.

My mom passed away a week ago today. We had her funeral Friday evening. I had so many friends and co-workers who did not even come pay their respects, or even send me a text. You surely do find out who your friends are.

Yes, it's a great way to find out who your friends are. It's an even better way to find out who in your family you can count on. Car broke down in Columbia, Missouri called a sister in Fulton, Missouri about 30 minutes away. Was told by her and her husband that they wouldn't come and get us because of gas and wear and tear on the vehicle. We had even offered to pay for the gas. Ended up calling friends who were more than happy to pack up their children in there vehicle and come get us from the repair shop as we had to have a transmission. Sometimes friends are even better than family even though you always hear that blood is thicker than water.

This song reminds me of my old man. A couple of years ago I went into a snowbank during a wicked Wisconsin blizzard waaaaaay out in the country. The closest farmhouse was dark so I called the old man at about midnight. About 30 minutes later he shows up with his truck and pulls me out! I expected an ass chewing but he never gave me a hard time just did what he felt was right. I'm thankful my old man is still here today and will never forget that as long as I live!

This song has a very strong meaning to me. My best friend and I had a huge fight. It was one of those "you live your life, I will live mine. bye" kind of fights. Almost a year later, I get a phone call that her husband passed away. Another friend of mine jumped on the next greyhound for 3 hours, and caught a 5 hour drive here. The next day, we went out to see our recently widowed friend. She and I hadn't talked since the day of our fight. Since then, we talk at least 3 times a week, we support one another, and offer advice. The sting of her husband leaving this world too early still hurts, 8 months after the ordeal. R.I.P.
