After attempting this route on a previous trip and being shut down at the crux I returned for my second lead attempt after sending the route on top rope solo and somehow managed to pull it off. I'm in love with the thought-provoking start of this route and the gear that protects it. Scary and committing moves high above good gear with the potential of a ground fall always make for exciting climbing. Then, into an amazing and committing roof pull move and this route takes the cake!

another great video for a climb that I need to get on, thanks. Question, on the piece you placed after the roof, that looks like a bomber nut placement and your cam looks like it could have easily walked. Why no nut there?
@climbingforlife1
@climbingforlife1 10 месяцев назад
I knew a nut wouldve been bomber but I just didn't bring them on this climb. The cam was okay but I a but would've been 10x better. I think the cam fell out after I climbed above it lol.

Nice did you onsite this? That hold on the roof was kinda hard to find for me at frist
@climbingforlife1
@climbingforlife1 10 месяцев назад
No unfortunely i didnt. The first time I tried it I found the hold but the next slap to the slopers shut me down.

Are the elastic bits connected to each carabiner meant for shock absorbent if a fall where to happen?
@climbingforlife1
@climbingforlife1 10 месяцев назад
I believe you are reffering to the slings attached to the carabiners. These are actually incredible static as they are made of a material called dyneama. In climbing we use these slings to extend the point in which the rope is connected to the rock because if the rope connected right to the carabiner it will be able to move the protection point easier and with these slings it makes the line of the rope more straight causing less rope drag! Let me know If you have any more questions its a little tricky to explain!

When clipping two pieces of gear together, just clip the second one to the biner or small sling of the first one. No need to dick with clipping both to rope
@climbingforlife1
@climbingforlife1 10 месяцев назад
I did it for redundancy because the pieces below were not amazing. Had a fallen and that one carabiner came unclipped I would hit the ground. I also knew it was the crux so I decided to take the few extra seconds to go from one carabiner to a locked in system that I knew for sure wouldn't fail.
@wildfyr89
@wildfyr89 10 месяцев назад
@@climbingforlife1 It just takes less effort while you were fighting it and getting pumped, and you can also clip it to the sling instead of the other biner, which would keep the system closed still.
