I have no expectations when buying a box of cards. Part of the fun is the unknown and opening the cards with your kids. Harkens back to memories of when you were growing up opening up wax packs with gum. I enjoy opening cheap boxes with my daughter. Also buying vintage boxes, like 1987 Topps for the memories.
@@leightonsheldon9469 That’s excellent. Loved buying a pack of cards for 25 cents and or a box back then for 20 bucks and spending an afternoon ripping through 36 packs of cards. Wonderful memories
Before 2020 i used to buy a lot of wax because the value was there. Now it’s just not wise to buy sealed. Yes here and there, there are products that come along that are worth it but generally, I now stay away from ripping. Why? Because Fanatics has shifted away from that fine median that made sense to rip. Print runs have doubled or even tripled in some cases in the last few years and prices have increased as well. great for fanatics but horrible for the collector. new collectors don’t know ant better and those are the ones complaining about value and return on investment. good video!
I have bought many PWCC cards with the sticker they label as top 30%, 15% and 5% …. i buy alot of vintage and i beilieve those higher end appeal of the grade do have much more value...
I most only buy the single cards I want… never done a break or repack…. have some wax but dont open it.. just hang on to it long term see what happnes… open a few boxes and packs and was boring.. prefer to keep them as part of my collection...
I have zero expectations on opening new wax boxes, which is why i haven't opened a "modern" box since 1999. It's common sense when you analyze the numbers as far as $ value expectations. But i dont have the gambing gene. The house usually wins. Odds are NOT in one's favor. Breaking boxes is a fool's game. I will probably have my comment removed now, lol.
Appreciate your point of view. If you can afford to and you enjoy the entertainment then opening boxes is fun…but it’s not for everyone and you need to be responsible
I have about 500 cards in my collection.. my collection is like 20/80… 20% of my collection is 80% of the value.. should I sell off my 80% lower cards… yes I should but I love all my cards so prolly not… lol...
