The C8 Z51 has already claimed supercar status in the ring of amazing cars. The Z06 will now start to take down the leaders of that ring. For 1/4 the price. GM is finally using its capacity and economies of scale as a major automaker - to design and build a world beater at this price point.
My C6 ZO6 can already take down Supercar status of the Ferraris and the sound of my cars ridiculous and for the extra money I saved I can get a girl for everyday of the week
Really like your dialogue. Nice videos. Thanks. I would love to have Z06, but still happy with my 2020 C8. Agree. C8 Z06 is super car. Stingray is already sort of close... Z lap time should be at 7" easy.
I have the number 1 allocation spot for the zo6 at my local dealership in NJ, even if u offered me 50k for it i would not let it go. There are close to 200 people in line for the zo6 at my dealership and they have only 15-20 allocations that the dealership is gonna get.
Another time you missed was the corvette c7 ZR1's time of 7:04 (on cold tires and restrained power output). Also, the C8 Z06 has been reported to run a 7:12 time... in traffic!
I share your excitement! I saw Jim's comment on another video and potentially a sub 7 at the Ring...Wow! I have been in the Z06 order queue since Aug 2020 with a $2000 refundable deposit @ MSRP through MacMulkin which is the 2nd largest Corvette dealer in the US. I have set aside $150K. A Stingray maxed out is ~$100K and IMHO the Z06 options will be significantly more expensive, especially I will be going with the Z07 package. I tracked my last Corvette, a custom built C5R-427, at Road Atlanta, and will run the Z06 there, so I want the optimum track car. Like you I love the mountains. I live 20 minutes from the Great Smoky Mtns.
Wow that's great you got a spot on a list to pay MSRP. I wonder if Chevy will put something in place where they prevent owners from flipping them for a certain amount of time, like what was done with the new Ford GT.
@@BrentRuiz They sure didn't do that with the C8. IMHO GM was too hands-off! Dealers charging over list, people buying C8's and flipping for big bucks. I saw where a guy bought 2 C8's and flipped both before he took delivering. If the Z06 comes close to the hype with a sub 7 run at Nurburgring, the Z06 will be a real feeding frenzy. So glad I am in the queue at a large reputable dealer.
I put a deposit at macmulkin as well. This car is going to be impressive. And really don’t want to be robbed over msrp. So I don’t mind some waiting. Love the channel btw!
the quaity of the Ferrari, McLaren, Lambo, is wayyyyy over and above the Chevy plus they don't make them in the tens of thousands so it's nice to have a car you won't see 10 of during your daily drive
The tires by themselves would improve the c7 z06 by 10-12 seconds. Although the Z06 is not built purely for lap times, its made for the driving experience.
Can't wait...too bad they couldn't log the track times but they will come next season. Then it will be on. I'm in the 400s at Ciocca so hopefully will have her beginning of second year allocations. Demand will be like nothing we've ever seen...Anyone with a collection will want one of these baby's in the garage.
I agree with you . My question is would you be ok getting a first year Flat plane crank engine remember what happened to the GT 350 the first year a lot of engine failures ?
In case you forgot....the 2012 zl1 Camaro did the nurburgring in 7:41:27. Faster then any car you just mentioned. ;) ive even seen reports of 7:37. And that was n/a 505 hp. Pretty sure the c8z vette will checkmate everything
You have a good point, but only until you get to test drive the Z06, then you might change your mind. Personally I really like the noise the Z06 makes with that price point is out of this world.
A your remind me of my East Coast Bro from India, Nathan. Good video! In my heart I really believe the ZO7 high wing version will hit 6:42 sec. around the track. If wrong then something very very close to the GT2RS 6:46 or 47 MY gut tells me the ZR1 will be even more fun to drive the best sounding twin turbo supercar and 6:25 ish on this track Even better handling with rear wheel steering. Hey ZO6 just might have rear wheel steering too.
The Z06 isn't gonna have rear wheel steering... also, don't expect anything below 6:52 for the c8 z06 because even the c7 zr1 (with 100hp more and possibly more downforce) only managed 7:04 (on cold tires, and a slightly restrained hp output due to the nurburgring regulations). The zr1 should be somewhere around 6:42 and the zora (hybrid, twin turbo setup with 1000hp) may be around 6:38. Even full on racecars struggle to get 6:25 at the ring
For the c8 z06, under 7 would be a huge accomplishment but anything under a 6:55 would be flat out nuts. *Assuming* the car still starts at around 85k (before options and markups).
@Stealth Leopard the c8 does not seem to have as much downforce as the c7 zr1. Maybe chevy's hiding active aero, but if not, the z06 doesn't have as much downforce as the c7z. Look at the wing on the c8z vs the c8z. Also, look at the side skirts. The c8z would have more downforce than the c7z in the front (and it needs it, since it's mid-engined). 6:56 is my bet.
The Pista can do way faster than 7 minutes flat ,the time of the Pista was made by a German who clearly didn't make the most of the car, if he were a factory driver it would certainly be faster, the proof is that in several circuits around the world the Pista is faster than the GT2RS that did a lot under 7 minutes, the Corvette isn't even of the same level don't talk nonsense
Im going off the official lap times list. If Ferrari wanted to show off their Pista time, they would do the same as other manufacturers are doing and set their time on the nurburgring. you nor I don't know what the Z06 will do yet. But it's exciting what we are hearing and seeing
@@BrentRuiz I know what you were referring to, the posted time at the Ring. I will go with the Z06, especially considering it will be more than half the price of the Pista in initial cost, service, and insurance. I have found Ferrari fans and even worse Ferrari drivers so self righteous and indignant. I occasionally ran across them at Road Atlanta. They did not like being out run by corvettes. I did piss off a couple of them. As one Ferrari driver told me before we went on the track, "Corvettes are alright for cheap plastic cars but can never handle this track like my car." He was not a happy camper and walked away from me after we ran the morning event.
@@Pmtd1234 I think there is that kind of person in every car ownership group. I am a big Ferrari fan and owner but I don't think that way at all and love all cars. Glad to hear you track your cars
@@BrentRuiz Typically what I found at the track was a comradely with almost all drivers. Fastest or slowest we appreciated each others effort! I truly miss those times and really looking forward to running the Z06.
My question is how do you expect to get an allocation now ? When people are on the list for 4 and 5 years so unless you pay 50 thousand more for the car then you have no chance to get one for at least 3 years . Plus is not confirmed that it has a flat plane crank engine is all speculation.
I unfortunately would have to pay the market adjustment price on the dealer list that I can get on. Although I'm pretty sure no dealers know what their allocations will be yet. I have no relationship with Chevy dealers at all and have never purchased one so I'm going to have to pay up if I want it at release. We will see what happens
Nah the flat plane crank has been confirmed, if you know anything abiut engine sounds etc. Just listen to the racecar if the Z06 prototypes don't convince you. Also, chevy's first C8 Z06 trailer noted "crank it up".
Worst idea ever. The AMG is the most under appreciated super car on the market. To sell it is a financial and performance mistake. The GTR is a very special car with motor sport royalty history.
One of the best cars I've driven no doubt. But if the z06 is actually going to sound like that and be considerably better on track, I'm interested. I've done everything there is to do with he GTR. 11k miles and many track days
Yes he time stamps it . Or you could go with the guy I just bought my C8 corvette from his name is Gabriel at booming Chevrolet in dadeland Miami there a top 5 dealer in the country . Tell him Aramis told you to call him that just bought the Rapid blue C8 . Call booming and ask for him .
