I was planning to just make a quick stop in the historic ghost town of Trading Post, Kansas, but luckily I ran into Alison Hamilton who showed me all around and told me more history than I could've hoped for! What an interesting area along the Kansas/Missouri border where many battles were fought before and during the Civil War. It is said that Trading Post is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the state of Kansas, with it's beginnings in 1825 as, you guessed it, a trading post. Check out the video for the rest of the story from Alison and make sure to support Trading Post if you're ever close to the area!

Boy howdy, I've driven past Trading Post lots of times but I sure never saw any of the buildings and museum before. A couple, who were neighbors next to us had an antique store for awhile in Trading Post but I guess it didn't do much business as they didn't have it for long. They moved to Drexel, Mo several years ago. Awhile back I heard that he had died. Thank you for this video it was interesting to see the buildings and inside the museum. I understand and there were parts that weren’t great on the sound because I messed up while recording. I tried to tweak it in editing but wasn’t able to make it as good as I wanted. Also, I think it depends on how you are watching/listening. I notice if you watch on a tv often the sound is much different than on a phone with earphones.
