Meatloaf the sheep is a him, but yes he was very calm and well behaved throughout the shearing. But I'm sure that he's a wether, because a ram would definitely not be that calm. A ram will fight anyone trying to hold them down.
🍖 loaf is a good 😊 boy he is a cute sheep 🐑🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊
I know they don't use an electric razor to Shear the Sheep does it hurt to sheep the way they do it so the sheep bleeds or get gets a cut or injured by accident? Also, how was the vet care back then for the livestock?
We use hand shears to shear our sheep that come from the same company from which Washington purchased his. They are still in business in England. The hand shears are actually safer to use on the sheep than electric shears because you can feel if you are about to cut the sheep. They do sometimes get nicked, usually, if they start to fight the shearer, but it’s like cutting yourself when you shave. The top layer of skin on the sheep is loose and does not have a lot of blood vessels or nerves. The lanolin, which sheep naturally secrete, acts as an antiseptic on the wounds. We are always careful and take our time when shearing. It’s actually the shearer who walks away with more injuries! We don’t know a lot about veterinary care in the colonial era, but the animals were cared for and often given home remedies or natural medications for ailments.
Allen Richards no she said it took her over 20-30mins to shear him and a master blade shearer (only one in ireland my cuz) only 2mins to blade shear me myself about 4-7 mins but then again the yanks are slower i guess they arent as hardy as us irish women thr longer it takes the more pressure it puts on the sheep and the the postion is all wrong i dont care that it is a ram ge should be sat in up in the proper way
@@therese514, my fault, I misunderstood your first comment. I deleted the first sentence of my other response to you because that was my misunderstood reply. Ireland is definitely sheep country, and I agree that with sheep you all know what you're doing. Ireland is also where those videos are taken with those wonderful Zwartble sheep and lambs, have you seen them?
Allen Richards yea there lovely we have a few in our flock but there mainly mayo blsckfaces and chevoits on the hill then the lowland are charrolais suffocks belclaires and texels
@@therese514, yes, you got a good variety of sheep. I notice how some sheep and lambs are more affectionate than others In general, I've seen Zwartble sheep as being the most affectionate towards people, and being the most loving and protective mothers to their lambs. I guess that's why I love them the most. But, I love lambs and sheep in general
