Traditional Arkansas Food - What to Eat in Arkansas 

I can't express how grateful I am for my family being in Arkansas now where my wife's family is from rather than Canada where I'm from. It's so much better and more sane here. Gas station fried fish may sound sketchy but it's INCREDIBLE!

Great video! But I have to say that Arkansas is more southern than mid-western. Fried food such as catfish or chicken or anything else is almost exclusively southern. Arkansas bbq is a mix of Memphis and Texas, since our state is caught in the middle. But you are right…. The HOGS are loved and you can’t go anywhere without someone wearing a Razorback something. But at the same time: Go Red Wolves! Go UCA Bears! And Harding Bisons and every other college mascot in my great state!!

@2:00 Let Caleb know not to expect bones to always pull clean like that. It means the ribs were pre-boiled too long or the ribs are simply over-cooked. Ribs have to have some pull and bite. I know “fall off the bone” is promoted but you can get disqualified from BBQ competitions if the bone pulls out clean. 😀 The more you know. Aw, shoot. The only shots I wanted to see were the chocolate biscuits, fried hand pies and possum pie. Dangit. *Fun fried food video, y’all.* 👍

You’ll have to educate me on where to find bbq. We moved to the hot springs area from San Antonio and have eaten all over from hot springs to Little Rock and every single place has been trash. Really bad. Saw that brisket in the video and not 100% certain but looks like they sliced it with the grain. I have found excellent catfish and steaks and some mediocre Mexican food though.
