When i was 6 i was a professional well known Adowa dancer, going to perform at funerals and parties and stuff. My dad put a stop to it. You know how african fathers are, they dont want any type of exposure for their daughters. Now am 33yrs old and dont think i can dance as good as i use to before.Someday when i have a child, i'll make sure they take the lessons.

COS IT MEANS WOR DOR WAA WHEN U ARE LOVED U ARE GIVEN MUCH BLESSING FROM THE SKIES AND U CATCH THEM AS THE DROP. ITS TRUE LOOK AT THEM... YER DOR WAA ADOWAA ADOWA BLESSED WE ARE X X X

This is not Adowa, it is actually Kete, notice the special drums they play with the red and black cloth. The atumpan drums are used for Adowa, they are the two drums leaning on the white stand, which are not played in Kete.

One needn't stop for another to happen. The Ashantis can dance and build temples at the same time.

So what is the meaning behind the dance is it meant for high court or for the people? It seems to be a courtship between lovers but the precision and dexterity looks like it is a dance used to appease the court.

The correct name is Asante! Not Ashanti! Asante is a Hebrew word. Asan', and 'te'.which means 'the smoke is mine' they r descendants of Judea.

No it is "asa" (war) and "nte"(because). It refers to the Asante states joining together against Denkyira to win their independence.
