clay my friend , your videos take me back to a time when the night before the hunt we sat across the campfire,no phone no yifi, just the hiss of old lantern a cup of coffee sharpening broad heads on cedar shafts in anticipation of the morning hunt , well done friend well done!

Outstanding Mr. Hayes! As someone new to this (less than a two months with a bow in my hands) I keep coming back to your other videos to help keep me in tune with what it means to be a bow hunter a conservationist and a caretaker of the land and wildlife. It's not the kill. It's being outdoors and one with nature. Videos like this reinforce the relationship between bow hunters and the land they walk, the journeys they take, the miles and hours spent preparing for the hunt and being prepared to bring nothing home other than memories of the trek. And being happy with either outcome. I'll be watching this one over and over. Thank you. Richard.

@Clay Hayes Holy Moses at that ram at the end 13:33 ...beautiful sheep. Clay, you and I are from the same neck of the woods. I grew up in central FL hunting and fishing Green Swamp, Richloam, Croom, Citrus WMAs, Withlacoochee River. I've spent some time recently in Apalachicola National Forest around Sopchoppy looking for a place to move to. We've been overrun here in Zephyrhills by "progress".Oddly enough I lived in Idaho as well for about 6 years. Volunteered with Idaho Fish & Game and Hunted around the Boise basin as well as North Idaho based out of CDA. Your content and the parts of your life you've shared with the public caught my attention instantly for obvious reasons. So many wonderful memories of Idaho. Your videos are the next best thing to still being there and I thank you for them.

This was incredible. I've been shooting trad bows for 34 years. Dad started me when I was 4, I'll be 38 in Oct. Point is I'm still learning and every years something different happens that teaches me something new. 2 years ago it was a miss on a massive whitetail spot and stalk that put me down wind with in 10 yards "soft ground". I blew the shot. Now I shoot 3 under which has helped my accuracy but I have added your lessons "tips" to my shooting routine. Just tonight I was "blind bailing" in the back yard with one arrow over and over and over getting to anchor, holding, head to arrow, then "push the hand away". I even was going through the motions in the shower like you did in the beginning of this video. I've been mostly instinctive with bad form....not any more...my goal for this fall.....shoot like you.

Wow what a wonderful video. A year ago, your videos inspired me to give archery a try. My family is very disconnected from skills like archery or shooting or even camping so I never knew anything about archery until I was in my 20's. I fell in love with it. 3 months ago I started making my own arrows per your instructional videos. A month ago I made a bow vise and set a few staves up to season. I just want to say thank you. Inadvertently you introduced me to something I thought would be a fun hobby but has become a passion.

Another excellent video. As a traditional archer who constantly questions why I use traditional tackle when I could pick off deer with a compound bow at 50 yards, it's good to be reminded that it isn't about fast results in a technology driven world it's about doing the work to get there. That means working on your shooting, tuning your bow, building your own arrows, getting closer, hiding better, reading the wind and making that final shot.

Great video, love your stuff. Real inspiration for us traditional archers who want to hunt trad. Think hanging around compound guys you get a real complex about how much you should draw back, the speed of your arrow, etc. I'm new to archery in general and started with a traditional longbow. Never saw the appeal in a compound, never shot one, never intend to. Thanks for the inspiration and reminding us trad guys about the meaning of "hunt" and the connection to mother Earth.
