This brings back happy memories growing up in my beloved Zambia. These dancers used to chase after us and they did use those whips when they caught up with you. All fun and games otherwise. Long live our culture!
There are so many similarities between your traditional dance/costumes and us in Papua New Guinea,(Melanesians in Pacific). Out of interest type Papua New Guinea, traditional dance and you'll see varieties of traditional dance and one in particular like this dance is (Manus traditional dance).
Just watched and yes very similar esp the drums and rythm. Can you explain the meaning of the Manus Dance? Also can your history trace you back to Africa?

Originally from Chokwe tribe, my mother's side in Katanga region DRCongo. Her father came from Angola long time ago. I have enjoyed it in Central Malawi: Ngule Wamukulu kwa Musakambewa ku Dowa. Zikomo kwabasi.
sure cuban rumba stems and is a modernized style of drumming that comes from these bantu rhythms. Now if you wanna see the stuff that really survived in the new world look up vids on haiti and dominican rep thats the copy of all this things i would say that island is africa in the americas...
Rumba came from africa thats common knowledge - but just not this part of Africa- but traditions has spread from West africa to Southern easter pats as well...Bantu culture
