Namaskar, my name is Samantha Limbu. In this exciting video, I take you on a journey to my two cousin sisters' wedding in my own village called Hattikharka, located in the beautiful Dhankuta district of Nepal. The wedding took place at my own home, and it was a grand celebration that brought together friends, family, and villagers alike.
The wedding was a Limbu cultural affair, with traditional customs and rituals that were steeped in meaning and symbolism. From the intricate wedding attire to the beautiful decorations, everything was done in the traditional Limbu style.
A day before the wedding, as we gather around in our home, I surprise my family and friends with a box of chocolates to delight their taste buds and bring a smile to their faces.
During the evening, the bride and groom's friends, and family come together to celebrate and had fun. One of the highlights was the playful teasing between the Soltis and Soltinis. In a cultural way, the Soltis tease the Soltinis by making fun of them, cracking jokes, and playing pranks. Despite the teasing, everyone is in good spirits, and the atmosphere is filled with laughter and joy.
The next day, as the grooms and their families arrived, we greeted them with warmth and kindness, and immediately set about preparing a delicious meal for them. We served them Tongba, a traditional Nepali drink made from fermented millet, along with a spicy buffalo curry that was sure to delight their taste buds.
As they enjoyed their meal, we sat down with them and engaged in lively conversation. It was a beautiful moment of connection, as we shared our cultures and traditions, and learned from one another.
But what really made the wedding special was the people. Everyone was there, from young to old, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement. We enjoyed delicious Nepali food, including buff meat, pork meat, dal bhat, tongba, xyang, and a range of other traditional dishes.
One of the highlights of the wedding was the Dhan Nach, a traditional Limbu dance that was performed by the bride and groom, as well as other family members and friends. The dance was a beautiful expression of love and celebration, and it brought tears to many eyes.
Throughout the day, we continued to offer our guests the very best of Nepali hospitality, sharing with them our customs and traditions, and showing them the beauty of our tradition and our way of life. There was laughter, singing, and dancing, as we celebrated the union of four beautiful souls. It was a day that I will never forget, filled with love, joy, and community.
So join me as I take you on a journey to Hattikharga, where we celebrate the Limbu Tradition and witness the beauty of a Nepali wedding.
