Maybe the "new knife bug" has bit me, or I'm just finding that carrying a larger/lockback knife is getting too heavy, but I'm starting to look at smaller folders like the Canoe or Trapper style. Steel type--something from Seiki City, Solingen, Sheffield, Taiwan, or the US would be ideal, although the Chinese are putting out some decent blades. Knife origin discussions do tend to start sounding like caliber preference, car manufacturer preference, sports team preference discussions, though. Good to see you back in videos.
I agree, one person may love 1095 while someone else may love cryo-treated D2. It really is preference at this point. These Chinese made Buck folders are really nice little blades. I have my eye on a few at the moment. If I decide to grab them, I'll pop them up here.
