Another great video. Like how you go through a process and show that things don’t always go to plan with the broken bolt. Do the 4 stainless steel bolts come with the new plate as a kit?

Hi and thanks for the nice comment. Yes, things don't always go to plan unfortunately, especially when working on an old rusty van. I bought my own stainless steel bolts. I don't understand why manufacturers use mild steel bolts on parts of the vehicle that are directly exposed to the elements. I know it is cost saving but won't cost that much more on a brand new vehicle and will make massive difference when you have to do maintenance. I have several old vehicles that I am restoring so I tend to replace all rusty bolts and nuts with stainless steel ones where I can.

Does the mild steel chassis and the stainless steel bolts not react to each other over time and weld themselves together?

I haven't had issues like that before. I would rather use stainless on mild steel rather then mild to mild as they rust so fast here. May be you will be ok with mild steel bolts if you live in a drier and warmer climate

@@TheKeenMechanic that's good to know. I've never used stainless bolts before. I'm really liking your series on the trafic as I have lots of little jobs to do on mine too

Hi thanks for the great video..could I ask what size replacement bolts are needed?
@TheKeenMechanic

Hi If I remember correctly they were M6. I think they were about 30mm long. I went with stainless steel bolts. You can get them on ebay or anywhere online

They are M8 not M6 as I've just found out!

@@samubysz3367 def M8 mate, and 30mm! I'm going to be doing mine in the next couple of weeks, so I'm just spraying the f@@# out of everything with WD and trying to loosen everything up before I start! 2 bolts free so far!
