Tragedy Strikes Stops us Cold

now if you know me I am a hard working fool at times. I hate when stuff happens that is out of my control. Christmas is coming and I want to be done before that but this one thing is going to put us behind! way behind and I will be out picking while Santa is flying over my house. the weather can be the best thing in the world and it can be the worst thing in the world. the weather is the tragedy I am speaking about. but when we need it we need it. I don't need it right now.

I’ve got 3 acres of corn , a two row new idea picker , back to back best corn we’ve grown ever. Just cultivated once. No spray no top dressing. 30 years of hay plowed under and triple 15 at planting 95 day corn. I’ve got half acre with picker before mud was 3’ deep rain for two months even the big rotation guys are bouncing all over trying to get corn in. I’ve hand picked an acre to feed daily or cut stalks to feed . Pasturing as I go. Lake effect snow belt. Tossup if we get froze enough to pick before the deep snows insulate it.

Glad to hear your fields were churning out the corn! Wet fall is my LEAST favorite season too. I'm surprised you don't have an autosteer on that thing! I had been trying to convince Erik that planting diakon radish late summer early fall would be good t break up both the hayfield ground and the christmas tree ground. he thought I was nuts, lol. We have hardpan clay and even though the orchard grass and trees do ok in it, I think they'd flourish more if they had direct organic matter available to the root system ;)
@onelonleyfarmer
@onelonleyfarmer 8 месяцев назад
you are right. even though I have not used them yet in my operation partly because I didn't have time in the year to establish them before frost. lime would be a big improvement as well if your PH is low it will make it hard as well. the hay will do much better if the PH is good.

@@onelonleyfarmer the orchard variety spec sheet suggested pH between 5.8 and 7.2, and my pH tested at 5.6-5.8 among the fields. It could certainly use a bit of lime. The trees though like very acidic soil, 5.5-6.0. Each variety is a bit different too, making it lots of fun trying to keep everyone happy 😂

@onelonleyfarmer 8 месяцев назад
@@This1LifeWeLive you can’t make people happy when they are miserable. Trees do like it acid. Grass would like it 7 but can be good at 6

If you bought a used grain cart that could hold 2-3 combine hopper loads, you could fill the cart and then stop and go unload onto trucks/wagons then start combining again without having to drive the combine back and forth all the time. I'd think that would be especially handy in those smaller field where it's harder to get trucks and wagons to.

Former farmer being Frank Koscis put enough mushroom soil on there to make a moldy kernel grow, and you can continue to bad mouth your neighbors, however I spread that mushroom soil for him, we also rotated beans and wheat, whilst the remainder of the farm was in hay. I thoroughly enjoy you lying to your fans to better your psyche. Tell them how much you paid for it, and then learn to be honest.
@onelonleyfarmer
@onelonleyfarmer 8 месяцев назад
So to entertain your stupidity I didn’t use franks name. Thank you. Now if you and your hero would have watched the video you would have understood what I said. Lying to whoever is watching was not at all what I did but since you are here to say that I was. I will make a video of the soil tests that I took on every field there. And I paid $70.00 per acre. It cost me that much more in soil improvements to get the ground to a point where I was confident that it would produce a fairly decent crop. Splattering compost on the ground doesn’t mean it makes it better. There is much more involved than that. But I wouldn’t expect you to understand it. And what lie have I told? I’ve been called a liar now for some time but nobody that calls me a liar can tell me what I lied about. I’ll wait

Making money on corn fodder in south Carolina

@onelonleyfarmer
@onelonleyfarmer 8 месяцев назад
@@ericbloss7032 now if you meant North Carolina I never made corn fodder there ether but I did bale a lot of straw in North Carolina and yes when I was done with the job and everything and everybody was paid I made an average of about $90k. Not that it’s anybody’s business but that’s what it was. Each year we made between 14-16000 bales of wheat straw we where paid by the bale. I paid my guys .75 per bale. You can do the math. All food and laundry was paid for by me Plus housing. So to make about $90k in 5 weeks was pretty good. Where is the lie in that
@onelonleyfarmer
@onelonleyfarmer 8 месяцев назад
@@ericbloss7032 in 2019 I bales fodder on the eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia all the way to the bay. We where there for two months and that job was good as well. Did just shy of $190k walked away with just short of $100k. After expenses because the equipment was hauled home by me and food and fuel was cheaper there. I still don’t see any lie in that. So if you think I’m lying I can show you the expense sheet for the three years I did those jobs. But I’m sure it would not interest you because it would not fit your accusations.
