Nixie's face lighting up when she heard "Kill it with fire" was priceless. But what really got me was the roast platypus at the end.

And then Nixie and Evandra killed Antriuses parents, burned down his house, and tortured and resurrected him.

"Both my parents are alive and they love me" I don't know why that tickled me so much, but it did

Waiting to hear Lumi's tragic backstory. "My humans forgot to feed me one time so I swore a vow to knock as many things off the table as possible."

I love archius' backstory the most, life isnt always gritty.

Towards the end, during the frame change, Nixie looks thoughtfully out of nowhere, then eats glue. And this is very striking. My English is sponsored by Google Translator.

Love that It's not so weird to not have a tragic backstory. I started playing in my first ever campaign and everyone in the party already lost their parents, land or had none to begin with and I just joined the ride with both of my parents safe at home and a little brother that I haven't seen since my pc was a child.

This is perfect because I actually made a Bard with this this same thing. Loving mother and father, youngest of 6 children, decided to become a Bard and adventure the world spreading joy with music, with his family's support. And my friends at the table all have massively horrible backstories.

Please make Killit a recurring character every once in a while. Absolutely love him. And the makeup and prosthetic work is fantastic!

0:46 Them are some fighting words coming from a human in D&D. Unless the campaign specify that you are in a world which humans are pretty much slaves to other races. Humans are almost never persecuted in D&D, they are the most superior race in numbers(if you do not count Goblins, but they often get eaten or killed by each other or other races), Can use magic, has the most land under their control and conquest the most of all the races(while there are some races that had empires, they often do not last and are eventually taken over by humans) in D&D lore

Y’know, looking at Nixie’s character sheet, the fact that it’s so chaotic and disorganized while still actually depicting her backstory makes me kinda sad about her mental state.

thank you for allowing the backstory into the videos. some don't realize how wonderful the backstory is so the DM can take into consideration the game ahead and allow each character's backstory to profoundly shape the game! Kudos!

In the party I'm currently running, two players died in their backstory and came back. They were sacrificed, coincidentally, by two separate cults (one for Myrkul, one for Zariel). The first one was brought back by another god to destroy the Myrkul cult and the second was sacrificed willingly as a part of a ritual to be reincarnated as a tiefling.

Writing has improved significantly, acting is up a notch, and the musical soundtrack is out of this world.

I like how killit is still optimistic, and enjoys others back story.. despite literally having one of the worse lives.

1:28 Tieflings are not "possessed" by any evil entity. The curse merely affects their appearance. But many people believe otherwise. Nixie might be living up to people's expectations with her cruel and destructive personality.

I know what it's like to play the one character with a stable home life, it can be fun when everyones getting all depressed and you can be like "I feel fine reminiscing about my home."

I once made a character who was a war veteran, the war was over and so his only skills was fighting, lifting boxes at the harbor didn't pay that well. Him and his sister had run away from said war when they were very young and lost their parents, but he became a soldier and she ended up getting married and had kids. He sometimes wondered what his nephew and niece would grow up to be like and share a mug with his sisters husband, he would also send some gold home when the chance arose. A part of him knew it would be even harder to go back than before though, due to all the messed up stuff he had seen and been involved in. And that was my attempt to make a somewhat believable and slightly tragic backstory that weren't just "everyone is dead".

My D&D backstory was just one word... amnesia. That way it doesn't matter what world I put her in, she'll fit right in! My character has enough personality to not really need a backstory to anchor her into a fantasy world.

The worst part about this is when it is over and I have to wait for another episode. I haven't been this impatient for a series since DBZ Abridged. Keep up the good work!

I did that in one of my last DnD groups, we were all asked to make elaborate (or attempt to do so) backstories, and everyone except me had horrible experiences, while my PC had a happy home life. Made my character much more grounded (vs being a murder hobo).

"My parents are alive and they love me!" reminded me of the backstory of my character in the campaing i play world of medium fantasy campaing where racism is...pretty strong (cities are divided in sectors for each race for example and some races barely want to work with others) i decided to play a human fighter (2 weapon archetype), backstory is not exactly the most original...but goes like this.. my character spent his childhood in a town in the woods were seing an orc, an elf and a dwarf driking beer together was pretty common (unlike in the rest of the world) loving parents, father is an adventurer (he is never home but he always sends letters telling how he is going and always reminding his son and wife that he loves them) sweet and lovable mother, mother goes sick, my character (who was still a kid back then) decides to work in the adventurers guild on town (cleaning and stuff like that) to buy the medicine, he buys it, mother recovers...the kid still decides to stay in the guild working mostly because he loves hearing the stories of the guild members about their adventures and how (the joy of travel, meeting new people,discovering new places, living new experirnces, is all worth it), so...with the money he gets, he uses a part of it to pay for sword fighting lessons, and later on joins the guild, once he reaches the age of 18 (adulthood), he desides to travel, so he can live the life of an adventurer and return with tons of stories to tell to all his friends on the guild... i loved telling the life on that little town, and even told my party members (who were all from diferent races) "it may be a little on the country side and there is not much to do, but i think my hometown is a really lovable place...i'm pretty sure if any of you wants to find a new place to live..you would be welcome with open arms" the rest of the party had typical backstories of "i lost everything and i have no place to go"...so must of them liked the idea.... next session asshole master decides that my backstory is not "tragic" enough so he sends my character a letter from his father telling him that some racist asshole with a "crimson sword" came and slaughtered the entire vllage (mother and guild members included), turning my backstory of a boy wanting to experience a life of travel and learn new live lessons into a shitty story of vengance

Honestly, both of the parties in the games I run kinda run the gambit on this, it's the best. Half of them have varying degrees of tragic backstories and the other half are either relatively pedestrian or hilariously ridiculous. I think my personal favorites in that category are the half-elf bard who spent like 21 or 22 years alone in a basement in order to hone his flute-playing skills, and the tiefling sorceress who kept burning down the prisons she was held in for like 60 counts of arson. xD

Well we had it tough. We used to have to get up out of the shoebox at twelve o'clock at night, and LICK the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife Seems very similar to Monty Python and I love it!

I've been the only one with happy back-story, just following in my alive sisters foot-steps to become an adventurer and paladin

I made my main D&D character backstory basically my life story and so in the process accidently realised it's almost like the first story the joker tells about his scars and I have shared it with three people one who said it was very dark, a second who said "you write what you know", and a third who said "geez" My D&D games never touch on anyone's which is disappointing because I would actually like to see other peoples stories and see how drastically different they are from the usual tragic backstory. I think that this video is a great one by the way just because they are sharing their stories prompted by a NPC who basically just keeps going

I played a firbolg with a happy home life once, but after we solved the desecration happening to nature, I realized that the character would have gone back home. I made sure my next character had lost everyone she cared about and had no life to run back to. She’s been with the party ever since.

I thankfully went around the tragic backstory with my half elf. Lets make a scenario, an elven queen goes for negociations with a human king. One thing leads to another, and you get Elthenor. A half elf in the elven kingdom. Due to this, he was largely supported. Having two royal bloodlines. Now all he wants is the crown. All needy greedy surrounding himself by loyal followers. Knowing that when his parents kick the bucket, he would be the most powerfull ruler and capable to create an empire.

The way she said brussel sprouts made me want to cryyyy.

One of my characters has the stereotypical rogue backstory (orphan, street urchin, etc.). The thing is, he doesn't actually mind. He made the best of a bad situation. As a child, he started a pickpocketing guild. He had incredibly weak wild magic, and could do some very, very minor things. He would use this to distract targets while his allies robbed them. Now he leads a full thieves' guild, lives in a mansion, is famous as a philanthropist, and is a skilled divine soul sorcerer because of his divine soul sorcerer familiar who he shares his soul with now.

KILLIT IS SO WHOLESOME!!

Killit is a great character name! I'm putting that into my idea hamper.
