My mother wouldn't let my father name me after Waylon. He is by far my favorite artist his music taps into something deep inside the soul. You can feel his pain and his love. He's not bullshitting you.
Absolutely agree even after all these years his singing and style is considered by many to be the best country artist of all time, Rest in peace Hoss, your legacy will live forever 🎸
I got the chance to meet my hero. I was doing payroll at gift shop in a hyatt in Albuquerque. He walked in and said "Good morning" I immediately knew who he was, I put my paperwork and told him that he was my hero He smiled and told I was to young to have him as a hero, and I told him my story and we talked for 40 minutes. He wife came to get him he been there so long, as he walked out he asked what my favorite of his songs and I told him "Rainy day women" but the song that fit me has always been "I've always been crazy" its still my song. I called my Mom to tell her who I saw, and she asked if I got his autograph. I hadn't, it never even was a thought. To hear his voice so close and getting to have a conversation was just to damn cool.
We all lost that day. Decades of music that would’ve inspired more decades of music was gone in an instant. It would’ve been interesting to see how Holly and the others adapted to the changing music landscape of the 60s and then the 70s.
I have always loved Waylon Jennings. His unique style voice that no one shall ever be able to duplicate, his voice was so sexy to listen to. Yes l am a true fan of Waylon Jennings. He was @ still is to this day my favourite American Country music singer of all times. I live in Scotland, but l have Waylon on my You Tube , every day or night .l never ever get tired of Waylon. RIP FOREVER WAYLON. KINDEST REGARDS ELIZABETH IN❤❤❤❤❤ SCOTLAND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love Waylon and his awesome singing voice and the man. He did so much to bring back the good old RREAL: Country music. He may have been a rebel , at times but i do think he is one of the greatest, singer, song writer of all time. I am 75 years old & I have seen them all, & he is up there with the BEST of THEM. RIP I have all your music, thank you also your book I loved reading it. You are my hero.
We all go through hard times & low points. Waylon was no different. He was still a well admired man , a hell of an artist , & a pretty fair actor. I haven't read his bk yet but I intend to. I enjoyed his narrating in the Dukes of Hazzard & listening to him talk. He had a very specific , soft raspiness to his voice. He is , was , & always will be ...... " The Balladeer" . Rest peacefully Waylon. You were here for a short time , but your impression is here forever. Thank you for all of your wonderful talent. God Speed 🙏
As a kid I saw him on FOLLOW THAT BIRD, Sesame Street film....classic....but Waylon sang a song with Big Bird and I still remember it...”Ain’t No Road Too Long”
I was a dam builder Across the river deep and wide Where steel and water did collide A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound But I am still around I'll always be around
There was nothing great about lies ...Waylon NEVER ever went to rehab and half of the shit he said in it was lies..and people believe it..i hope they get sued..
When I was barely 12 years old. The first album I ever bought was, Music Man by Waylon. Them good ol Duke boys made it happen. RIP. You never could toe the mark. And you never could walk the line. ✊
No one could or yet can top Waylon, he didn’t care about the spot light or bling , all he ever wanted was to play his music and let his audience hear it. Thus came the name outlaw because he basically told Chet Adkins to kiss his rear
No it wouldn't Chet, it was RCA that Waylon told to kiss his ass, he wouldn't be controlled by no recording company. Remember when they gave him the 25,000 dollar signing bonus, Waylon wanted to take that money and start his own recording company and someone asked him what name he would give his recording company and his reply to them was, WGJ recording company, which stands for, (Waylon Goddamn Jennings) That's just the way he was, he never let the big recording companies push him into doing something he didn't want to, Waylon was the real deal nothing fake, he was all about his fan's not the big time recording companies, if his fan's we're happy then he was happy. I heard Waylon say something once many years ago that I still believe in to this day, He said through life everyone has to have a center post to hold onto when times are bad, without that center post we will fall, his center post was Jessie and later in his life he definitely come to know that.🎸
Waylon did not file bankruptcy he hired an auditor to assess where the money went and then developed a payment schedule to pay off the debt after being advised to file bankruptcy. He worked for almost a year solid and payed off all his debt.
Numb is loosing yourself because his soul loves his country and people the sacrifice to make smiles respect love for humans who want you to feel happiness they need it too amen women and all beautiful genders
Waylon Jennings George Jones merle haggard johnny cas golden treasure of country music legends and willie Nelson and always will be in my books.thay new what country music was not what on county raido to day .nobody' will fill there shoes.that for sure oct 2020
Got turned on to him when a friend took me to a Merle Haggard show at the Carlton in Minneapolis in '84---only they announced Merle "couldnt make it" but his friend Waylon Jennings would be filling in for him....huh? I never looked back after hearing and seeing him in person---Haggard was good, Waylon?---Fricking Great...RIP WJ.
Dion "remembers" that since he was one of the headliners on that tour (he was) that HE was supposed to be on the plane but gave up his seat. But I don't think it plays that way since Waylon and Tommy Allsup were doing duty as Holly's band. This narration sounds more correct than that Holly would have hired the plane for the "headliners".
I used to live in Georgia and my boyfriend at the time was a huge fan of Waylon. Well he had a concert coming to the local fairgrounds and I was gonna take my boyfriend. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get tickets due to being on a fixed income. It wasn’t long after that when Waylon passed away and my boyfriend was devastated that we couldn’t come up with the money to get tickets.
I'm from his home town of Littlefield TX and I every year he would come and have a free concert. The last time I saw him he brought Johnny cash and Willie Nelson. His brother and niece have a liquor store there now. Sorry you didn't get to see him.
Allen Miraval that’s so cool. Thank you for sharing that information. I almost was able to see Shooter in concert in North Carolina but the concert sold out really quick. You’re so fortunate to have seen Waylon, Johnny and Willie. I love all 3 of them and am a major country girl who loves living in the south and classic country music 👍
@@sassykaren7587 I went with my best friend to Waylons brothers gas station and all three were there playing checkers and hanging out. They were really nice and it was awesome to meet the legends.
The narration about his drug bust while in the recording studio is inaccurate. Waylon noticed the warrant the DEA presented him had him listed as the owner of the studio, which is incorrect, therefore making the warrant invalid. While the agents had to wait for a new warrant, Waylon's drummer Ritchie Albright gathered all the drugs in the studio and flushed them down the toilet. The DEA agents knew they had nothing on him, but preceded to arrest Waylon anyway outta spite for a failed bust.. All charges were later dropped during a preliminary hearing. I mean seriously, I know this is made solely for views, but honestly, whoever did the research on this video is terrible. All they had to do was listen to Waylon's song 'Outlaw Sh*t' for a more accurate bit of research material.. Smh....
Waylon wasn't perfect but he was very honest He had a great voice and earned his title as a Country music legend R.I.P. Waylon I know your playing music with buddy Holly in heaven catching up on lost time
waylon on his deathbed with an amputated foot would embarass todays **pop/stadium** country singers. there is absolutely great country music being written and played today, just not on the radio.
He died at 64 not 62. He also did not go to Betty Ford but decided to go to Arizona and go cold turkey with just Jessi and Shooter with him. He did not declare bankruptcy but spent 2 years digging out of debt.
Welling Jennings was the first guy I ever heard sing about the Promised Land. He had a deep influence on my writing. Please listen to my tune. "Iron American Dream" on RU-vid. Take a right across the Promised Land. Thank you Mister Jennings.
Jessie and Waylon did not "live happily ever after" - they had some really rough times until he finally kicked the cocaine. Listen to Sweet Music Man (by anyone) -- written by Kenny Rogers in the late 70s after he sat next to Jessie Coulter on a flight and heard her story. Look for a funny appearance with Waylon and Johnny Cash on The David Letterman Show.
Blockages in the heart to my knowledge is not a direct aresult of cocaine use, I've had a few family and friends who suffered heart blockages and never in their lives done cocaine nor drank. Bring on the know-it-all and Dr's without degrees to put me in my place :) seriously. I suffer from heart disease and I have never ever consumed a drug of cocaine or heroin, meth ,,, smoked a little weed but that's it. Waylon lived a life in between the fast lanes ,took the blame when it was warranted, however dont place the needless blame of off the wall crap ,, he done plenty without making chit up .
@@_Daniel_Plainview no it wasn't..fact Waylon NEVER WENT TO REHAB..stop listening and watching b.s..Waylon went to the Arizona desert and came off from it without doctor's...they said he would probably die but he didn't..he did it by himself and Jessi..
@@_Daniel_Plainview anyone that knows Waylon or is a true follower of him knows ..he Never got busted with cocaine either..they tried but it went down the toilet..watch and listen to his audiobiography and he tells all..listen to his song..he was busted for something that was gone long gone
Waylon never went to the Betty Ford Center for his addiction to cocaine, that's completely false. He went to Arizona and leased a house and he did a month long detox and ended up quitting.
@@eivindgjengstjohansen9625 Yeah, that hard living gave us so much great music. Obviously I wish he hadn’t done it and he still might be with us. But he will always be remembered as a Legend.
They had a search warrant for his apt. not the studio. But the mailman knew where to deliver packages to Waylon. So the search warrant listed the wrong place. As the agents came in to the studio, Waylon threw the envelope figuring what it must be. It went perfectly under the wall that didn't come down flush with the floor. As Waylon was talking to the agents, Richie Albright came out of the bathroom, with the toilet flushing...Not knowing who received the cocaine, or if anyone expected it, no charges were filed.
