After hearing this great production, I saw pictures as the lyrics were sung. So this is a video of what I saw. Long Live Waylon. www.paypal.com/donate?busines...
I'm a 16 year old kid getting raised by a man in his 70s(long time family friend) bc my parent's aren't around, he preaches the lessons he was taught, shows me how to be a man and to defend myself by whatever means I need to, but never start a fight, thank you Wes!
Respect to you and wes kid my grandad raised me I went to prison a few times and never really listened to the man u till he past away and now every thing he ever said to makes sense keep listening to the old man and you will do well in life good luck brother
As long as you do your best and stand firm on what you believe, and never let anyone break you down you will make it man. That’s all outlaws really chased, was the fleeting freedom on the horizon of their youth and sense of wonder
My Dad died two days ago, he served his country with honors in Korea. He never was an outlaw type but he raised one, this song plays along with a shot of the finest in his memory. RIP VHP -Staff Srgt US Army Born1936-Died2020
Im sorry for your loss. My papa the man that raised me passed away on the 12th of june last month he was a veteran & a real good man. So i feel your pain.
It's 2022 and there's still real outlaws out here, riding solo, no family, looking for their families, making music and raising hell, Rest in peace Waylon
I traveled 300 miles, left home to get to Kentucky mountains. Got here got arrested for a fireball, got spend next 5 days in jail again. Some men like me just ain't built to stay in one place to long. 40 years old still can't settle down.
This reminds me of my dad. He died at 46 living the life of an OUTLAW. And He Worshiped Waylon. And I closed my eyes and caught a glimpse of my dad in prison singing this song. I wished I could of saved my father. I'm 35 now and after 8 yrs of in and out of prison before I was 22. I can say I broke the cycle. Love you Pops
The older I get the more I realize my grandpa lived the outlaw life and he seen it in me and at 36 I've been living the outlaw life my whole life from running shine to running drugs and it'll cat h up with me eventually but until then this is my destiny
From a young wild kid with a broken home to hangin with all the wrong crowds and ending up with permanent repercussions and then going to a working man starting with nothing but a nickel and a dream that one day I can change.. this song hits hard. I wish I had payed attention to pops and his music more as a kid, maybe then I’d be a different man.. but here’s to the change. Never forget where you come from on the journey.. it’ll help shape you.
Damn right! I been thru some tough times when I was young but as you get older you realize there is more to life than prison. You got to live in the moment and seize it for what it is!
@@therealgingerviking86seuse49 yeah. I been thru lots a hard times. I'm 55 now. Stood before the man yesterday get sentenced again. I'm too old for this shit. When will I ever learn? Livin that outlaw life ..... shit
I recently moved my wife and 3 children to Lubbock Texas, from a long shitty life in ohio. We now live in a town outside of lubbock just about 7 miles away from Littlefield Texas where Waylon was born and raised. Thanks to my grandfather i grew up on the old/real country music. Now when i walk out into this wide open west texas field, with a cold beer in my hand and waylon singing in the background... I totally get i. Every last word!
By the time you realize the shit is out of hand it’s damn tough to stop and if you do it’s always calling you back. Here’s to everyone looking down the barrel of both.
I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma ( Porter Oklahoma ) I'm black my uncle's listened to this baling hay, plowing the fields, sitting outside watching the bon fire life was a simpler time back then
I got to see Waylon's grave. I traveled back to Mesa Az where I was born. While drinking hard I always went to this gas station.. saw this old man who plays guitar .named Richard. I always through him some bucks for buskin. I drove him around a couple times to help him out. We jammed together as well. Anyway he told me Waylon's grave was up the street ..was hard to believe until we went and he found it . Richard played with Waylon a time or 2 . Amazing story alot I'm leaving out but good lord. What a wild world. Country legend .
It's time ladies and Gentlemen to turn into outlaws! Let's Bring Our Beautiful Country America Back! I know I am not the only one feeling this way! God bless you Waylon!
I grew up my whole life looking at pictures of my dad who played a banjo and sang in a band. I never met him. He died a little bit after I was born in a plane crash while smuggling grass out of Colombia in the 70s. His body was never recovered and all I got growing up were stories and my pictures my mom had. He was from the south and for some reason I always thought of him when I ever heard Waylon, even though I never met him. Thank you Waylon. R.I.P. Carl V Harris
With all thats bedn coming out 8 would look into that ..the sr.busch had business in bogota colombia involved smuggling .....its a known fact WHO the actual cartels were ...jed busch married a columbian no one knows anything about her Family ....BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FATHERS SPIRIT &SOUL DOES REMAIN🌦💝🌠
You know Waylon is the greatest of all time! And he said And I quote "Garth Brooks done for country music what pantyhose done for finger f:)ckin" unquote! RIP MY HERO!
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN LOL ...REAL MEN LIKE TO SHIT WITH THE DOOR OPEN TALK ABOUT PUSSY AT THE DINER TABLE MAKE THERE OWN BEEF JERKY GO ON RIVERBOAT GAMBLING TRIPS AND LISTEN TO WAYLON FUCKING JENNINGS ....now all you ponty tail headed boys please sit the fuck down and let the real men do this shit
No Edith, real men love and respect their wives and work hard to support their families. They don't gamble away their hard earned money and talk about "pussy" at the dinner table. If that is the conversation at your dinner table you had better set a place for Donald Trump.
This was my dad's song. He was a great man. Served his country and lived an honorable life but was always misunderstood. God bless his soul. I miss him.
That's why many of us don't tell our stories... Don't want to be judged by those who have no fucking clue. Our wars are our own. Our own reasons, our feelings, our decisions.
rando commando Yes but not as much money as they ask for now a days and music back then had a meaning and was to get their opinion out like this song here.
rando commando money was the goal even during their days BUT most had a story to tell, truth to speak and it costed them lots of money they could've had. Waylon left music row coz they wanted to censor the truth he was singing and he made his own records then. Lots of artist done same. You take someone like Luke Bryan (who's music I actually like) he sings about girls shaking their tails etc...there's no real deep meaning to his music, it doesn't make you THINK like some lyrics can. His music is for fame and money. Then someone like Chris Stapleton, Hank 3 and others come along...their songs force you to sit up and take notice, all while they are earning money.
+Momma B3ar I totally agree with you, and I own some Waylon and some Chris Stapleton CDs. I think though that the ones like Waylon Johnny Kris and all of em would be depressed to see what the new "country" music is, I know I am, but Chris Stapleton and the few others like him give me a bit of hope again.
For you dad I do forgive you I'm a man now with his own demons and I understand now the toll it takes on you. Love you pops. Can't leave my kid's yet but I look forward to seeing you happy and healthy. R.I.P Stanley Seavers my father
Damn man, that's some strong words. Keep those demons in your dust and give it hell moving forward, when you feel like life is getting tough tie another knot in that rope and hold on like hell...
QUICKIRONS I agree, Country certainly isn't what it use to be. I would like to think there is hope for us though. I have been very impressed with Chris Stapleton.
Music Row is being torched to the ground by Plastic Country. BUT there is some good folks coming up quietly but steadily. East Nashville is rising. Margo Price. Sturgil Simpson, Jayme Johnson are relatively "old style" Country. And of course Chris Stapleton.
Thanks for listing Margo Price, I haven't heard of her before but I am now a fan. Keep spreading the word getting these people heard is the only way we can save country music.
Mike Honcho I haven't really ever been a Country fan since most of what I heard was radio garbage. I did keep up with Americana music. Then I heard her on KEXP sessions and was blown away. Country can touch your soul when it is REAL.
I grew up with a hard-working father who worked in the oilfield since I was a baby. My mother became an aggressive alcoholic narcissist and had mentally abused me for years. Now I am a married man to a woman that I've been with for 12 years now and has a beautiful daughter. if it wasn't for my 4 best friends growing up with and working with I wouldn't be leaving this comment to show and express on how much this song means to me... brotherhood. Thank you Tyler, Tanner, Lonnie, Casey. I owe you guys my life.
Hello, I am writing from Turkey. Waylon is truly incredible. I am a big fan of him and his music. He has a voice that truly touches the heart. Every time I listen to Waylon, I feel like going on a long journey leaving everyone and everything behind. I hope one day I have the courage to do this... Endless love to all true outlaws. 🖤🖤🖤
Personally I feel as an African-American musician bass player who has been familiar with country music and soul music and the Beatles my entire life I do my musical journey I personally feel that Waylon Jennings is simply the most honest righteous songwriter since the Beatles him Bill withers it you know there's certain people that stand in a different class he is there I mean you know I mean you know you get Bob Dylan you know you got Hendrix great poets and great song structures but this song is a masterpiece you can interpret it so many ways with a band this incredible the foundation is so righteous I bow down to Waylon Jennings truly added utter respect for his spirit and God bless him and his music man
I named my son River Waylon in honor of a man that's music has always been heavily influential on my life. Love all of his music but this song always spoke so many different meanings in my life.
I'm not a fan of most country music, I normally just stick to heavy metal. There's just something about this older country music that I absolutely love and find some relatable. This is one of my favorite songs in the world, it just hits me down to my very core. Amazing....
It resonates with you because you're growing up.it doesn't matter if your 16 or 60 we all have growing up to do.theres so many of us out there who, when we were young men,got into all sorta outlaw shit and it DID get outta hand.this song has substance and wisdom and above all else it has soul.
Such a shame where country music is today, real country like this is what should be on our radios. Rest easy waylon, your music will never be forgotten and will remain the definition of country music for all eternity.
I grew up on Waylon,,,mama would play your music every weekend as she did the cleaning and ironing,,,thank you for your grandson struggle Jennings he is following in your footsteps... May you and mama rest easy .. gonna listen to your music 4ever!!❤🎧🎶🎶🎶
Sometimes you gotta hit or get near the bottom to realize how good things are. Be glad you made it through. Don't regret those life lessons. Hope you found God in the process.
No one cares. But this is the first time I have heard this. I listen to an insane amount of music. From Different times & walks of life. As well as a few different languages. I must say this man has entered my Top 100 Artists. Maybe one day when I'm gone some one will read. Take all & be safe.
When a song haunts you to ur very soul, you realize the words are a reflection of ur life. Waylon even tho ur gone ur poetic words live on thru ur fans. May you and the Man in Black make heaven a more interesting place.
@@johnelljohnson9374 Being Black has nothing to do with the music that you feel compelled by, There are many Black country & western singers you can look up, and alot of mashups and musicians working together and making new genres over the years. I love Classic R & B and There are white singers that you'd swear we're black, or vice versa, it doesn't matter really, we choose what we like and live, and we should all learn about our past and music, and enjoy it all, please listen to Struggle Jennings and Caitlin song "God we need you now", he is the grandson of The late great Waylon Jennings, but sings in the genre of rap, with country )& r/b flare, It's PHENOMENAL!
Yeah I hear ya there.i cried my eyes out when I heard this song because 8d never heard my life summed up so accurately in a song meant to summ up someone else's life.i can relate to waylon Jennings.excess, misunderstood, anger, pride, ego, sorrow and finally realization. I'd give anything just to be able to sit with waylon Jennings for an hour and just chat.
I'll tell you a story. We were sitting around 1 night at my buddies house and I was telling someone how a fight started in a bar once. My buddies 16 year old brother looks at me and says "you're a bit older than me. Don't you think you should be a good role model and not talk about what happens in the bar?" I looked at him and was serious when I said it, but I said "I think I'm being a pretty good role model. When have you ever heard any of my stories from the bar that ended good?" he laughed and said point taken. Moral of the story is that with this old country music, they tell a story. Not all stories have happy endings but there's a lesson to be learned. Sometimes it's, don't follow in my footsteps
My God I love this version. The original will never be duplicated but there's something about this one. It's pure haunting. How I miss real country music made by real outlaws. Long live Waylon and the rest of them that made it the best music in the world.🤘
My dad told me my grandpa was a big Waylon guy. I was around 7 when he passed but i can oddly still remember his outfit he wore every day. Black cowboy boots, polyester pants, button up shirt, leather jacket and a cowboy hat. The stories my dad tells of when he was younger my grandpa would definitely be an outlaw. Wish i had more time with him love you Grampa Floyd.
I'm from Lubbock Texas and that is very true I have got to set down with buddy brother and talk to him when I was a young boy. Something not a lot of people can say.
Douglas Steele ikr goddam I always felt bad for him after hearing him tell how the whole shit went down an offhand comment...I hope your damned old plane crashes...turns into a tragic prophesy he carried the guilt of that til the day he died...gods can you begin to imagine the kind of agony he suffered the rest of his life blaming himself for the death of his friend...not his fault but noonebcould convince him of that...rip Waylon we forgive you as has buddy and Ritchie and no have now sleep long and well sir you earned it
this was the real Heroes damn shame everyone's gone now . I'm a Cherokee Indian an when I was comen up this was the real country now it's lost I miss the old ways of life
This native has outlaw in his blood. God it ain't always been easy especially this day in age. Just because you're an outlaw doesn't mean you're a bad person. Just because you're law doesn't mean you're a good person. To all my outlaws, standing for what you believe in. This outlaw shit
Bonnie's are damn hard to find. It won't take long for another Clyde to come around. not that it will replace the original, but I know how us dirtbags often find temporary comfort in fleeting pleasures
I know what you mean before I joined the Army me and my ex wife were ride and together. When I went to the 3rd time she got pregnant by another man, took $70,000, the brand new car I just bought her before I left. When I came home I had nothing. I wish to God that I can find an honest, loyal woman willing to jump on the back our Harley and just ride.
Just lost a good buddy of 20 years. Met him around 15. We were both already troubled, and acted like it. We raised hell through our teens, 20s but my buddy never gave it up. The outlaw shit never got old to him. He fit 3 lives into 35 years. I’ll never forget him. I’ll always love him. He was a brother. I just wish I could have gotten through to him.
Damn what a gorgeous version and vocal.....the man could flat out sing anything. Such a great baritone filled with danger, honesty, vulnerability, the whole smash.
Little brotha that 70 year old man sounds like the right kind of man u need to learn as much as u can from because once there gone man there gone , there will all ways be a little bit of wisdom in his words, and u keep showing respect by shutting up and hear what he says ,, my grandpa's was a hell of a man didn't say much about WW2 only he cut genrald Patton's hair in a fox hole 4 times and that a German was a hard man to kill , To u Old guys y'all are the best thanks for helping us be free , Jayjayphatts
I miss my dad. This was his song. Ive been feelin lost and like im doin this on my own lately. Listening to this make me feel like my dad is lookin down on me with a smirk to get back up from this. R.i.p Wilson Atkins I love and miss you dad :'(
P3y0t3 49 oh honey, so sorry to hear that. Life can really suck when it looks at you hard like that. We all have a time and place babe, now it’s just your turn smirk right back, and let dad know you got this. He did right by you and you’ll land on your feet.
Still getting me every time i listen to it and remember all my friends long and gone because of booze, drugs and Gear. You always saw the little guys Waylon, rest in peace brother✊
Once again I want to say thank you to country music they're giving me some of the best times of my life that's where I listen to my country music at as a teenager for their memories I'll never forget from Southern Indiana we still set around the parking lots and listen to the good old country music thank God for The Highwaymen were they are number one on our list for they are true heroes and we all love them so thank you for listening to me I might not say it good enough but I say it God Bless The Highwaymen
I'm a mother of a sixteen year old daughter. It is true to form to learn the blessings of our elders in good stead. The greatest gifts given is their wisdom to us. To pay it properly forward. Beautiful feeling to see that in our and theirs actions ! Seeing that positivity, nothing but golden! Keep smiling. Open doors in life.
Outlaw $##t catches up to a person. Busted up bones, a tatted and scarred up body and mind. A criminal record and a lot of sorrow and heartbreak! I have over one year sober now and have been off parole for almost a year! I thank Jesus everyday for not letting me die like that!
As a kid I grew up in Foster homes and boys homes i would run away never fitting in..never wanting to follow the rules or obey law always considered myself an outlaw Those outlaw ways got me 10 years in prison.. now I'm a law abiding citizen and how I missed those old days
I think Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings are probably my MOST FAVORITE Country Western singers of all time!! I love Waylon Jennings' voice, so DEEP and RICH!!
its really hard to not look over your shoulder if you have ever lived a life like this song . . . this world just keeps repeating itself over and over again. i wouldnt change anything ive ever done. it has made me who i am. most will never understand
Waylon to me is more than just a great artist. He is an icon. His voice is haunting and you feel eveything he felt when he sang his songs. The greatest troubadour in music history
A musician makes music that might get airplay and stick in ppls heads but an artist makes music that will make ppl feel they wrote the music about them and their lives.
I know folks will argue this next statement but for my money and my point of view salute to waylon jennings the greatest country musician to ever grace a stage
My Dad raised me on a Harley, Outlaw shit! The late 70's,80's,early 90's, when Outlaws would ride, live, party, fight, fuck, and live to ride some more. Dad was My Dad, friend, teacher, protector, and my Hero !!! When he passed/was killed in Terre Haute Regional Hospital (medical malpractice),he/we was shit on by all. He listened to the good'ole country. Before I Die,I must do a Pocket Run in his memory, playing his music,"Outlaw Shit," The days of simple, enjoyable, times! R.I.P. Super Scooter Bill, love You and miss You !!!
For those of you making rude comments about Struggle, let me get this straight. Struggle takes parts of Waylon's songs is because first of all, Waylon was Struggle's grandpa. Second of all, before Struggle started his career, he wanted to make songs with Waylon but when Waylon died, Struggle was heartbroken because he never got his wish so when Struggle started his career, he took some parts of Waylon's songs and put them in his songs and let me tell you, the version of the song Outlaw S*** that has Struggle and Yelawolf in it, I like that version a lot and the part when Struggle says,"Alright, grandpa, it's your turn," that made me think about when my great grandma died or when a friend of mine from my high school died. I mean yes, I do like this version of this song a lot but the version with Struggle, Struggle explains a quite a few things in that song. And I'm sure if you were famous and somebody in your family was famous, you'd feel like taking part of that person's song and putting it in your. Heck, I'd do the same thing if I was a rapper and somebody in my family died and was famous. So before you go making rude comments about Struggle, how about you think first before you say.
***** I get that, but still, if Struggle wants to take parts of Waylon's songs and put it in his song, then he can. I mean, I don't to a whole lot of songs from Struggle but when I do, I listen to songs that he makes that has Waylon's voice in the song. If Waylon was still alive and if he actually did make a song with Struggle, I would think that they make a great collaboration.
Actually Waylon was his step dad not his grandpa. Look it up. He was with struggles mom and eventually married her. His father's name was William harness. No relation to the Jennings family at all.
Just think guys this guy was one hell of a legend... in this world we only live for 2 things. Live and die. Now we can’t take nothing when we go but we can damn sure leave our legacys.
Musical Superhero.. right here hit rock bottom more than a couple times. Had a saint of a wife who stood behind him. In my eyes one of the greatest I ever seen.
Rip daddy, Vietnam marine from Tennessee and best daddy a girl can have. Outlaw shit, I get it from you an thru the pain ya taught me to keep a smile. Love ya dad.
Thank your daddy for his service my daddy was over there in vietnam and he raise a out law too even though I am black I love my country because my daddy fought over there in hell what they call nam and he was the only black in platoon I like this song because this how feel
+baler johnson Check out Yelawolf, Struggle Jennings, and the Slumerican guys....its probably not your cup of tea if this style is what youre after, but they are living along the same lines and talking a lot about the same stuff...Yelawolf has a song called "Devil in my Veins" thats pretty raw. Struggle Jennings is Waylons grandson.
Man, I've loved many a different kind of music since I showed up in '58...but Waylon and a few of his friends are top of the list on my solid gold list.
